this story began about 2 and a half years ago...
i know that this might be a huge shock but if we go all the way back to the roots of this whole thing we will end up at me being the age 15 and pretty much a senior in the undertale fandom/community. yes. my sona originated from undertale. lemme explain! i was in the undertale community for a long time [with a break] at that point, and as every person, i was also making lots of fanart. one day i was sitting in some class [i think it was a math class] and i was super bored like every person would be honestly...so i was doodling! i doodled alot of sanses as well was the different versions [mostly the more popular ones] and i also doodled frisk. I wasn't able to find the original sketch though but it looked somewhat like this:
i found the design very nice and simple and i would just draw that fucker EVERYWHERE: next to all my drawings, on every handout from the teacher, on my friends stuff, ect.
at some point though i was thinking about a sona, a character i could show myself with in drawings. i was an artist for a long time and the fact that i didnt have a sona kinda pressured on me. I hate myself i wont lie, i hate my body my voice my skin and well...pretty much everything untill now still so i wanted to make something that would still represent me but not be the human me so i just took that little frisk doodle and just started drawing it with horns. i thought that horns were very badass and i always wanted to have some so then as time progressed the little fisk doodle turned into something like this:
i still didnt have my current name back then for the character so i kept assossiating it with frisk and once i looked at it and remembered that asriel was charas brother so i decidet to draw frisk as a demon thing which i sadly couldnt find the original drawing of.
i have always loved sheep and i have always thought that they were cute
anyways...
time progressed again and i started drawing that frisk demon version many many times always altering the design untill this guy popped up:
now you can already tell that i have aquired my name! yayyy!
[story of name: my friends took my deadname and spun it through google translate a couple thousand times and at some point "marlon" just popped up and we all were like 'aight! marlon it is!!' so now today this is my name and i will not be changing it!!!!!]

a some point i must've been really annoyed of drawing marlon with only the upper body so i was working on a full sized version and it took me a while to pick the clothes and the overally style but i decidet to make it a very small creature:
also a huge shoutout to my frient jay-elyon on tumblr who helped me alot with the overall design and kept helping me perfect the design and he himself came up with lost of things i still use till today. at first we both gave marlon an ear tag with the text "MRLN" which stands for marlon. i wasnt sure if i wanted it to be more sheep-demon or goat-demon aligned [yes marlon couldve turned out to be a goat lmao] so this was the design for a long time. as you can tell i still have that striped sweater till today though i kept changing the design of the sleeves. as you can see here it looks pretty similar to the ones i have today too.

because the initial thought was to make marlon a goat, elyon also made the markings on the body and well yeah the rest is visible enough
also marlon used to have a sythe as a weapon bc i also thought it was badass
you can also see that ear tag on the left side of the page that we used for a while
only way later i decided that i didnt want it to be a goat demon bc i found myself not really liking goats in general and sheep were just so cute and fluffy [>pun intended] also i liked the sounds that sheep made more adorable and also more comforting
goat sounds are too sharp and agressive to me tbh

you can also see that i have always been drawing marlon with the eyes closed just like frisks [>bc they were the base] bc it was easier for me than to draw alcual eyes with an iris n stuff...
you can also see that past marlon always had shoes on and that bc i didnt know that i could just use the hoove design and well...i also didnt really know how to draw them :']
so i've been drawing marlon with horns and tail at that point but i kept refusing to add wings for some unknown reason but maybe also because i didnt want it to look 100 like a demon and still keep it 'tamed'
eventually i gave in and this was the very first drawing i made for the wings:
i made them small in the beginning still kind of wanting to hide them. i also just sometimes left them out in drawings bc i was too lazy to draw them [and well...i still do that] or i just forgot their existence
so yeah there we pretty much have the base of marlon! it lacked alot of personality and the first lore thing that we made was not untill almost the end of the sketchbook so yeah it took alot of time and it wasnt even that big of a thing [but yall didnt vote for it so none of that here >:] ]
lets see...i think the next thing that was bothering us is the colour of marlon. at first i used to just give it the same colours that i have so red hair and beige skin. i know you think its cursed and it was believe me bc this is how it looked:
yeah...no...go wash your eyes out now please preferably with bleach
though...maybe it was just my shit art back then so maybe i can make it work...
yeah it was actually another friend that picked the colours. they drew marlon with braids and a flowercrown and probably just picked random colors but i really liked it so i took those colours also altering them in the process [i used to do the hair pink!!!]
so now that i had all the things needet it really just needed time to develop more with more time so i was tinkering with different art styles bc i had a little breakdown and i also couldnt really find my own art style at that time so i just kind of started trying out different ones

and also yeah at first i gave marlon cat eyes [i dont really have a story for that i was just "oh yeah its a demon so ig it fits"]
also at some point i decided to give marlon like a sally face type mask that you may find in some of my old drawings mainly bc sometimes i have my face and i cover it up to feel better
so yeah marlon canonically has a mask! and no the design is way different than from sally face so please dont associate those! <33
and then i decidet the thing with the horn prosthetic: at some point elyon decided to make god versions of all my friends characters including me and i got so inspired by that idea that i wrote a whole story about it starting with how we came to existence and then got our powers all the way to becoming gods and the horn prosthetic is actually part of that story! i lost a horn during a fight and it also have me that scar on my right eye! heres a recent drawing i did of it [TW: BLOOD]
now here we have a little empty space bc my friend wasnt able to find the original drawing i gifted them to i will just try and tell you as best as i can
so the whole thing with with me wearing a gold-horn prosthetic with gems on it was originally made with a completely different intent:
that doodle i made [that sadly doesnt seem to exist anymore] was actually inspired by some of this demonic horns ornament stuff like for example these:

i just wanted the horns to look fancy but then my brain decided to write a shitton of lore to it and how i lost my horn and the prosthetic and all that
i had a few designs that i went through and maybe pairing gold with my blue skin was not such a clever idea color wise but i will be keeping it that way now
and then at some point

after this it was just some art improvements and not really anything changed since
i think thats really it tbh im not sure if i can find anything more on the creation of my sona
so.....
