Chapter Text
Felicity sat nervously on her couch, hoping everything was perfect. She didn’t know who would walk through her door, only that she’d do her best to be kind, fun, and empathetic — and hopefully not too awkward.
A large man stepped into the office, his face hidden beneath a hood. He wore a black-and-white suit, something out of the 1950s. The strange aura around him made her skin crawl.
As soon as she saw him, she wanted to be professional about this, but the flesh was weak, her life was a hell of a lot more important. She ran to the door, however, she heard the sickening sounds of the door clicking, locking the poor woman out as the creepy man walked towards her. It was clear he was sentient. "Wha-what do you want with me?" she asked, her back pressed against the door, her shaking hand on the cold knob.
Before she could speak, the lights flickered. When he finally spoke, the sound echoed as if from a cavern…"In three days time, three characters from different fictional worlds will come to you. Each time, at 8:00 AM!"
Felicity put a hand on her heart, trying to calm it down. "Who are you?"
"I am a being you humans have no name for," the being replied. "Still, since you have not done real psychological work yet, I want you to treat the characters that will meet you. Treat them well, and you’ll be rewarded. Fail… and you’ll die.”
The blood drained from Felicity's face, her heart beating rapidly, both from fear and shock. She closed her eyes, as if her entire world was going upside down.
When she looked at the being again, he had faded away, with the smell of morning grass left behind. And she heard the front door unlock. Her body relaxed, and she slid down to the carpet floor, her legs laying on top of each other. Felicity tried to collect her thoughts, trying to make sense of what had just happened. Suddenly, she heard a knock at the door.
It was her friend, Ashley, an African American woman who worked next door to her office. “Hello, Felicity? Are you okay in there?”
Felicity took a moment to gather herself before she replied, "Y-yeah, I'm okay, Just a little jumpy before my first therapy session, that's all. Everything's fine!"
Ashley was not at all convinced, but didn't press the issue, and with a nod, closed the door behind her.
For the rest of the day, Felicity tried to forget about the odd supernatural experience. She even pinched herself to see if she was dreaming. But she unfortunately was not, judging by the pain from the pinches. Instead of going home, the first time psychotherapist, stayed the night in her office. Even though her boss thought it strange, this is what she needed.
That night, Felicity remembered what her mother had once told her. How she should have been a ballet dancer instead of a therapist. But she had said she had wanted to help people, but it seemed that dream was quickly fading. The next day, Felicity heard an alarm clock. She looked at the green numbers, and her eyes widened. 8.00. She jumped as she heard a knocking at the office door.
