Bright lights blinded Kokona’s eyes, she awoke to be in a hospital bed... Again. Like always. She had nothing fun to do. Just lay there. The TV was broken, it was too early to ask for breakfast, and it was too bright to even see the room she was in, well, barely at least. It's all so boring. Kokona sat up, grabbed her phone, and checked her notifications, nothing, nobody even texted her.
“Sigh.. like always huh..?” She giggled, trying not to sound pessimistic. “I suppose I can go back to bed, haha..” just as she was about to put her phone down, she could hear light footsteps. At first, she thought she was hallucinating.. But with her own eyes, she saw a white fluffy fox-like creature jump up onto her hospital bed.

“HUH!?” Kokona exclaimed, but then she covered her mouth hoping she didn't wake anyone up. “Hello, Kokona Sayuki. My name is Kyuubey.” The creature spoke, its mouth didn't move but.. It spoke.. “It seems you are in quite the predicament, hm? A truck crashed into you while your mother was driving, unfortunately, you were in the backseat.. So, i guess you got struck, huh?” Kyuubey said with a neutral tone, no sort of expression whatsoever. “..Yeah.. my mom.. She.. ah, never mind, what do you.. want? Why are you here? AM I DREAMING!?”
“First, no, you are not dreaming. I am real! And I'll answer those two questions in one.. I'm here because I want you to sign a contract and become a magical girl!” Complete silence filled the room before Kokona spoke.. “Huh..?” “That's right! I want you to become a magical girl! And, ill let you make any wish! Any wish at all!” After Kyuubey said that, Kokona had a confused expression on her face.. “Any wish? Okayy.. What's the catch..?”
“Well, you have to exchange your soul, but don't worry! You won't be killed by this, it will be placed into a gem. And you'll have to replenish the gem using grief seeds, by fighting witches. They feed off despair.”
“You expect me know know what witches are..?”
“ Witches are evil monsters, They cause a lot of trouble in the world, so we need magical girls to stop them. Magical girls use their soul gems to fight, but they get dirty over time. If they don’t clean them with grief seeds, which are dropped by witches, they will turn into witches themselves. That’s why I always tell them to be careful and not to waste their magic. It’s a fair trade, don’t you think? You get your wish, and I get energy to save the universe from entropy. It’s a win-win situation.”
“OK.. that makes more sense. So like, you can save the world from despair if i become a magical girl!?”
" Yes, basically. Thats how it goes.”
“ Hmm.. only one wish..”
“You can take your time. And if you don't want to, ill just find another girl.”
“ I know!! I want to get out of the hospital!! I wanna be able to see my friends and family again! I hate being here!!”
“Are you sure?”
“Yea! If it's for the universe.”
“But.. i want so many more things.. But, ok! Thats my final decision!”
“Alright.”
Kyuubey’s ear flaps start to blow, the red circles on them start to glow. Kokona feels a sharp pain in her chest, the pain is almost unbearable. It hurts. IT- its over. A soul gem appears in Kokona’s hands. Its a light pink, its very sparkly..
“That. Hurt..”
“ Can you stand, Kokona?”
Kokona trembles out of bed, he holds onto the railing of her bed. She takes a step while gripping her soul gem tightly..
“ I-i can walk! I.. you.. I can do it!”
“Then my job here is done.”
“Wait- how do i find the witches..?”
“ Your soul gem can locate the labyrinths they hide in. Then, when you beat a witch, you get a grief seed! Pretty easy.”
“Okay.. thank you!”
Kyuubey walks away and jumps out the cracked opened window. Kokona just stood there.
