Chapter Text
Sonic the Hedgehog was a world renown hero by now. He has festivals dedicated to him, books written about him, conventions for him, and even a statue in his name. He was 20 years old by now; he divorced Amy Rose and he had settled down with Shadow. Despite settling down, he still fights robots that his arch nemesis puts out. In fact, his arch nemesis continued to be Eggman. The doctor had made many creations throughout the years, but when he teamed up with a mysterious woman around 4 years ago they created his most underestimated creation yet: a mutant child named Silly.
Silly was a silk moth. Regardless of being born 3 years ago, her body was 14 years old. She lived with Eggman, moving around every time her dad needed to plot some more schemes. She was always sneaking out, saying that she was, “wreaking havoc on the world,” or, “getting more materials,” even though she was just trying to live a normal life.
“Silly, if you ever go out on a wacky adventure with anyone ‘good’, I will turn you into a robot slave,” Eggman explained to her in a deadpan voice.
Button the Bat and Ari the Arctic Fox were Silly’s best friends. They had known each other since Silly was 12, about a year after her creation. Silly thought that it would be cool to call themselves, “The Silly Squad,” and at first the other two didn't really like it. It grew on them, however, on an adventure that would turn their world upside down.
“Dad! I’m going out to get those metal scraps that you asked for!” Silly lied through the base. She unlocked the metal sliding door, and flew outside. The Silly Squad had decided to go out on a hike to the Ice Cap, instead of Silly going to get the scraps her dad wanted. Ari was extremely excited, he hadn't been in freezing weather like this for years. On the other hand, Button was dreading the fact that they had to walk in the cold snow. Silly could feel the cold, but it wasn't as detrimental to her as it was to a normal mobian. She was ecstatic to hang out with her friends today. First, she flew over to Ari’s home. Silly was unusually strong, so she could lift someone while flying with no issue. Silly and Ari flew to Button’s bat cave, where he struggled to get out the door.
“I'm ready,” Button muffled while walking out the door. He had on at least 3 jackets and a puffy blue coat, gloves over his gloves, two pairs of pants, earmuffs, and big snow boots. The pair stared at him in disappointment and awe.
“What.” Silly said finally.
“It'll be cold! What do you want me to do about that? Suffer?” His other two friends gave him the exact same look: a stern disappointment, with a hint of confusion. “Fine, I'll take off some layers. But I am not going to take off the pants… those took too long to get on.” Silly and Ari sat until Button was ready. He walked outside with lots of layers taken off, and they started heading towards their hiking spot.
As fast as they were, it took Silly and Button almost an hour to fly up to where they started their hike, Ari holding on. They finally stopped and landed at the entrance to the mountain.
“We’re here!” Silly sang. She dropped Ari in the snow, and he wasn’t mad at her for it. He was grateful that she did, because his head landed in the cold blanket. It cooled him off and he even started to play in it. Silly laughed at him, and then looked over to see Button. He was in absolute peril. He was shivering hard, and it was like he was growing icicles on his wings. “Are you ok, Button?” Silly asked.
“Y-yeah, I’m f-fine,” Button shakily replied. They started their hike up the mountain. Along with them they had brought some skiing gear, snacks, an axe, and an electric fire-starter made by Button. Thanks to Ari, they had packed the snack, axe, and fire-starter. Ari was smart when it came to survival. Each of them looked up as the spot they wanted to ski on became closer and closer. With each step they became even more excited. Ari was the only one who had been skiing before, or hiking. He had shown the others how to put the skis on, and how to hold the ski poles. They had been hiking for half an hour now, and snow had started to fall.
“We should make a fire, Button might be an ice cube,” Ari said. They found a nearby cave. When they got close to it, Silly was scratching her head.
Suddenly, the ground started to shake. Silly ran to the cave entrance, and her eyes grew wide and terrified. The snow had started to slide off of the mountain and towards the cave entrance. Button and Ari joined her.
“Run!” Button yelled, but the only thing they could do was go deeper into the cave.
“Is everyone ok?” Ari asked quietly. There was a dim light that came from one of the holes in the top of the cave. The entrance, however, was completely covered and no light shone through. Silly sat up, her headache was a little stronger, but it didn’t hurt. This feeling was different, instead of pain she felt like something was there.
“Yeah, I’m alright,” Button sighed. “What about you, Silly?”
Silly sat up and started to walk towards the back of the cave. Button and Ari looked at each other with concern. Her friends followed behind. Since they were all able to see in the dark, they had no trouble getting over rocks and small cracks in the ground. It was treacherous for any normal mobian, but something about this group was different.
“Hey, Silly? Where are we going?” Ari asked politely. They were both worried for her. She continued to walk, ignoring what her friends were saying. They kept walking, deeper and deeper into the cave.
Crash!
Silly looked behind her in shock of the loud noise. Badniks were surrounding her friends, and sharp metal fingers attempted to grab the fox and bat.
“Silly! Help!” Button yelled. Silly froze, thinking of what to do. She had never fought her dad’s creations before, let alone fight at all. She was scared, but her friends were more important than her fear. She flew up and dove into one of the bots, smashing it with her hand. New sensations flowed throughout her body, she was powerful. Silly grabbed one of the arms that held onto Ari, and began to swing it in circles. She threw it at a wall, and nodded at Ari to continue the fight. Ari grabbed the axe from the bag, running to chop the arms off of some of the bots. Silly then ran to Button, where he was about to be stabbed by one of them. She smashed the bot to bits with both her fists, freeing the young bat. “Thanks, Sil.” They continued to fight the Badniks, until one remained. It was a lot bigger than the rest, egg shaped with thick robotic legs that had wires sticking out the side. Its arms moved around its torso, spinning faster until it seemed to be a spinning blade.
“Oh no… Button, Ari, we need to run,” Silly stated. She grabbed her friends’ hands and yelled, “Now!” They headed towards a small tunnel, where another part of the cave was. The tingling in Silly’s head was getting more apparent. The bot was hitting against the wall. The trio shook and gasped in fear and shock. “I’m so sorry guys. I should have listened when you asked why we were going in deeper,” Silly whispered. “I started getting this weird tingle in the back of my head. It got stronger as we were going into the cave, and now I can hear static.” Ari ran to her side.
“Silly, why didn’t you tell us? We could have helped! You know that, right?” Ari questioned. Just as she was about to answer, Button intervened.
“Guys, what’s that?” A soft light blue glow laid across the edge of the cave’s wall. The Silly Squad ran to it, interested as to what it could be. Silly could feel the tingling get even stronger, to the point where it hurt a little. She dug through the dirt, until she saw the end of a crystal poking out.
“A Chaos Emerald? What’s that doing here?” Silly said. The others looked at her in disbelief. How did she know what a Chaos Emerald was? Why wasn’t she in shock?
“Hey, Ari!” Button blurted, “Remember that time that Sonic the Hedgehog used Chaos Control on the Ark? Maybe we can try it!” As the two started discussing, Silly tuned them out. The tingling had stopped when she picked up the emerald. Was this what was causing the sensation? She held it up, thinking about what her friends had said.
“Uh, Chaos Control!” Silly called out. She teleported a few feet away, before the boys noticed her.
“What.” Button said flatly. “Let me try!” Silly gave the emerald to Button, but when he called out he didn’t move an inch.
“Ok… I guess I’ll try.” Ari took the emerald out of Button’s hand. He called out, but just like Button nothing happened.
“How did you do it, Silly?” Button quizzed.
“Yeah, I’m with Button,” Ari suspectedly asked, “how?”
“I’m not sure, I picked up the emerald, said the stuff, and it just happened! Regardless, I think we should use this to get out of here. First though, I have to pick up some scrap.” They slowly picked up some of the bot scrap for Silly, avoiding the blades of the horrible bot. When they got enough, they stood together. “Ready?” Silly asked. The two nodded. Ari was holding onto Silly’s hand, and Button was holding Ari’s. Silly held up the cyan gem, and yelled, “Chaos Control!”
When the trio opened their eyes, they found themselves in the middle of Green Hill. Ari saw his Uncle looking out in surprise.
“Hi Uncle!” Ari yelled. He turned to look at Silly and Button, and laughed. “It worked! We’re out of the cave! And safe in the sunny meadows of Green Hill, where I live!”
“Thank Gaia. I was beginning to think we were doomed,” Button stammered. Ari and Button talked for a while, not noticing that Silly had left. “Hey, where did Silly go?”
“She probably got that scrap home. Do you want to come hang out at my place with my Uncle?”
“Sure!”

“Silica! Where have you been- I told you to bring me that scrap before dark!” Eggman screeched. Silly put down all of the scrap.
“I found some broken bots in the ice cap. I figured you’d want to recycle them,” Silly grunted. The doctor took the scrap from the table, and examined it. Silly had pulled the wool over Eggman’s eyes. She was great at lying, as she had done it for almost all of her life. She flew to her room, ignoring the grumbles that Eggy gave when he sifted through the scraps and found a ton of cold, wet snow. Silly sat in her decorated room, fondling the cyan chaos emerald. She didn’t know what it would do, or what power it held. She knew one thing though: Keep it away from her father. She laid in bed, pondering what she should do with the gem. Then she remembered a familiar name. "Sonic, that’s it! I’ll talk to Sonic the Hedgehog!" She packed her things, hid the chaos emerald in her chest fluff, set an alarm to go off at 5 o’ clock, and drifted to sleep. The next morning, she would leave the wretched place. Silly would finally run from Eggman.
