Work Text:

it’s colet’s first time attending a college party, (mikha and sheena were persistent she’d come) so she doesn’t really know what to do other than awkwardly stand in a corner and observe people. i’d rather stay at home and read my books than do this. she tells herself. it’s not that she’s a lightweight or lacks the social skills, colet would just rather have her close friends in her dorm room and enjoy themselves than be in a room full of sweaty, smelly people.

colet continues to observe people from her corner; on the other side of the room are people playing beer pong, (they’ve been playing for over 20 minutes and colet’s gotten tired of watching them play terribly) while the living room are full of people making out on the couch, hardly leaving any space for jesus christ himself, and the foyer is full of drunk people dancing amongst each other. colet takes a sip of her now warm can of pale pilsen and sighs to herself.

bored with her hands, colet attempts to remove the pop tab of her beer. the tip of her tongue sticks out a little on the corner of her mouth as she focuses on removing the tab and with ease, she succeeds. colet inspects the pop tab and sees that she has been successful in removing the metal circle in the middle as well. she pays no mind to it and plays with the tab using her hands when suddenly, a seemingly drunk aiah comes into view and grabs the tab from colet’s hand.

a hiccup.

“is this for me?” aiah asks colet with a drunken smile on her face, her voice a little slurred.

colet is a little confused from the interaction, unable to reply. since when did aiah become a party-goer?

“oh?” aiah says with a suggestive smile as she examines the tab. “colet, do you even know what these pop tabs mean?”

and since when did she know my name?!

before colet could process a reply, aiah is already pulling her by the hand across the foyer, up to the stairs, and into a room.

a bedroom.

with just the two of them.

colet, even more confused than she already is, turns around and tries to leave the room but aiah is quick to grab her and kisses her. truthfully, the older is kissing her kind of sloppily but before it could go any further, colet comes back to her senses and pulls away.

“i– what are you doing?!” colet asks in complete panic and in embarrassment.

“i thought you wanted to sleep with me? you offered me the pop tab.” aiah answers simply, a pout on her mouth evident.

“what? no!” colet answers quickly, her face red and embarrassed.

“so you don’t want to sleep with me?” aiah asks once more, genuinely confused as well with what’s happening.

the girl reeks of alcohol and sweat from the night’s events, her hair sticking everywhere, and her eyes a little red.

“no, of course not! we barely know each other and you’re drunk. i’m not going to take advantage of that.” colet answers her honestly. “plus, i wasn’t offering you the pop tab, i don’t even know what it means.” colet explains further but aiah, dazed as she already is, slowly leans her forehead over colet’s shoulder and before colet knows it, aiah has fallen asleep on her.

she tries to shake her awake but comes no response.

“jesus, fine!” colet mutters to herself. “i’m taking you home.” she says to the already sleeping girl as if she would hear her. “but only because i can’t leave you here and i don’t know who you came with and i don’t want to be responsible if suddenly you’re on the news the next day because of murder!” colet explains to no one in particular as she tries to carry aiah bridal style.

colet gently places aiah into the backseat of her car, almost out of breath. after sending a quick text to the two friends she came with, colet takes off into the direction of her dorm.

sunlight seeps into the room, shining directly on aiah’s face causing her to wake from her slumber. she greets the morning with a pounding head and… a darlentina poster on the wall? aiah quickly realizes she’s not in her room or any of her friends’ rooms; however, after noticing she’s still wearing the same clothes from last night, she deems herself safe. the rack of books by the window didn’t go unnoticed as well as the sweet smell of a lit up scented candle. aiah looks to her right to see a note, a glass of water, and what she assumes is tylenol for her headache.

“i hope you don’t mind me taking you home last night, i wasn’t sure who to leave you with. drink this when you wake up. -c”

aiah did as she’s told and got up to tidy up the bed, blew the candle off, and left the room. as she enters the living room, she’s greeted with the smell of soup. upon entering the kitchen, aiah sees colet prepare their meal with her back facing her.

“hi.” aiah speaks up, voice deep and raspy.

colet startles from where she stood and turns around to greet her guest.

“hey, you’re awake.” colet states the obvious. “how are you feeling? did you see the medicine on the bedside table?”

“yes, thank you for that and also for taking me home.” aiah replies rather awkwardly.

“i’m almost done with the soup. i prepared some clothes for you in the bathroom if you want to change, it must be annoying having to still wear your clothes from last night.”

-

the meal between the two went by quietly, both of them refusing to talk, nonetheless it was still comfortable rather than awkward. aiah was able to shower and change into a fresh set of clothes (colet’s clothes) (colet made sure to pick her comfiest pair of hoodie and sweatpants for aiah) before their brunch and after eating, she collects her stuff and prepares to leave. she didn’t want to stay any longer than she should as she was starting to feel embarrassed.

colet walks aiah to her door, but before aiah could step outside, she turns to colet and says, “i’m sorry about last night. about the pop tab and everything after that.” aiah bites her lips in nervousness. “could i possibly take you out for some coffee some time this week to make it up to you?”
