Summary:

You decide that you want some self-defense lessons, and you know just who to ask for the favor.

Hi! This work is fairly old now, so it's not representative of my best writing. If you want to see that, check out my page and read some newer stuff!

Work Text:

“So, you don’t want to just be the support member of the group anymore?” Jotaro asked.

“No, I don’t,” (Y/N) responded. “I want to somehow fight, even if my Stand can’t pack a punch. Even if I can’t engage in Stand battles, I want to be able to defend myself against guys who want to pick a fight with me.”

“Alright,” Jotaro huffed. “I’ll teach you some basic self-defense. First lesson!”

Without warning, (Y/N) revived a hard blow to the face, one Jotaro personally took care of.

“Ow! Why did you do that?” (Y/N) didn’t want to show it, but it couldn’t be helped. The tears started flowing down. “That hurt a lot.”

“I’m sorry, that was an accident!” Jotaro was showing an overwhelmingly larger amount of remorse as he quickly ran to her side. “Well, not the punch part of it, but just the amount of force. I’m used to having to beat up thugs who think they’re better than me. I only meant to punch enough to throw you off guard, not make you cry.”

“Why did you want to punch me in the first place?!” (Y/N) wailed.

“It was to get a reaction out of you. Just a simple, ‘Hey! What was that for?’ or something like that. To tell you that it was the wrong answer. I know I look like a horrible person for saying this now, when you’re really hurt, but you can’t let the enemy see a reaction. You’ve gotta say, ‘I barely felt anything,’ ‘You call that a punch?’ ‘What, you think that would hurt me?’ or something along those lines. I promise you, that punch was meant to be lighter. I didn’t mean to hit you that hard.”

“It’s okay,” (Y/N) sniffled. “I think I’m ready to try again.”

“You’re tougher than you look,” Jotaro complimented. “Alright, this time, just pretend I hit you really hard.” He lightly tapped her cheek.

“Hah, that barely even hurt!” she exclaimed.

“No, no, no,” Jotaro corrected. “Even if it’s barely, they’ll use that against you. Replace barely with didn’t, it’ll work a lot better.”

“So, that didn’t even hurt? Is that what I need to say?” (Y/N) asked.

“Perfect,” Jotaro nodded. “Now, add some oomph to it.”

“Hah, that didn’t even hurt!”

“Good, good,” Jotaro nodded. “Now, For the tough part. The actual self-defense.”

That day, the two practiced blocking techniques and counter punches until the sun set.

“Hay, you two!” Joseph called. “It’s dinnertime!”

“We’re coming, old man!” Jotaro replied. “Just a few more minutes!” He turned back to (Y/N). “Now, show me what you’ve learned.”

Jotaro went for another strong blow to the face, but was blocked by (Y/N), who quickly returned that punch to his face instead. He tried dropkicking her, but she grabbed his leg and kicked him in the stomach.

“Good,” Jotaro said. “Really good. Now, let’s go get some food.”

“Okay,” (Y/N) beamed. As the two walked back, Jotaro made a surprise attack with Star Platinum’s elbow. But, with quick reflexes, (Y/N) summoned Ace of Pentacles and grabbed Star’s elbow.

“I can’t attack you even if I tried,” she chuckled.

“Well, if you’ve gotten stronger, chances are that Ace is stronger, too. Just try.”

Ace of Pentacles punched Star Platinum, and was surprised to see Jotaro have a reaction, as well. “Huh. It’s actually just as strong as you are. I guess since its powers don’t consist of strength, it’s not going to be stronger than you.”

“Hey, quit dawdling!” Joseph shouted. “We’re hungry!”

“I said, we’re coming!” Jotaro shot back. “Good grief, old man!” He sighed, then turned his head to look at (Y/N). “Come on, we don’t want to anger them any more.”

And with that, the two went back, one of them feeling on top of the world.
