Protector

Summary:

Star Platinum has started acting weird. It's acting strangely affectionate and protective towards you. Surely this means absolutely nothing for Jotaro.

Work Text:

“I can’t believe it’s come to this,” Jotaro said to Star Platinum. “I can’t believe you’ve made me resort to this. Well, if it’s what’ll get you back in check, then I’ll do it.”

Standing at the doorway, Jotaro let out one last groan before he opened it.

“Avdol,” Jotaro confronted the older man, who was sitting down on his bed. “I have a question.”

“I can’t guarantee an answer, but I will try,” Avdol replied.

Jotaro nodded, and did his best to recall the memory. “I think it was eight days ago now, when we were fighting what’s-his-face. I had summoned Star Platinum to fight this guy off, but right before (Y/N) was about to be attacked, he leaped away, without my say so, and blocked the attack for her, heavily injuring me in the process. Ever since then, Star has been going out of his way to care for (Y/N), even when she’s perfectly fine, and it’s starting to get on my nerves. He even insisted we two share a room. What can I do to regain control of my Stand?”

Avdol let out a little giggle, then answered the young man’s question. “There’s no need to regain control of it, Jotaro.”

“What do you mean? Did you not just listen to what I said?”

“I listened to every word you said,” Avdol responded. “The question is never ‘how do I regain control?’ The question is always, ‘what is my Stand trying to tell me?’”

“That makes no sense at all,” Jotaro grumbled.

“You already know that the Stand is a manifestation of one’s mental energy,” Avdol said, “which means that whatever Star Platinum is doing is what your heart wants to do. And if he’s giving extra special attention to (Y/N)...”

Jotaro thought about what he meant for a little while, then the lightbulb clicked. “You’re not suggesting what I think you’re suggesting, are you?”

“Jotaro Kujo,” Avdol chuckled, “I think you might be in love.”

As Jotaro walked back to his and (Y/N)’s shared room, he groaned into his shirt. “How did I not realize this?” he asked himself. “How am I going to deal with it? I can’t just… tell her, can I? No way. I can’t just tell her the day I figure out I’m in love. I’m in love! How did this happen? When did it happen? And why (Y/N), of all people? Why a Stand user, who can see my literal mental energy swooning over her?”

Once he got to his doorway, he took a deep breath in and out. Hide the feelings, that’s all he needed to do.

“Hey, there you are!” (Y/N) said happily as soon as he opened the door.

Nevermind. Hiding the feelings were completely out of the question.

“Hey, Star!” she greeted as the Stand picked her up and spun her around, then held her close to his body. Jotaro hadn’t even noticed that he’d emerged. “He’s extra affectionate today.”

“I gave up on trying to stop him,” Jotaro shrugged. “Whatever. So long as I don’t lose my life.” He knew part of that was a lie, since he was fully controlling Star Platinum, but he wasn’t ready to confess his feelings to (Y/N) quite yet. Plus, seeing that precious smile of hers made him almost lose it.

“I like it,” (Y/N) giggled while Star played with her hair. “I really like it.”

Maybe Jotaro wasn’t ready, yet. Maybe he still needed to muster up some courage before he could tell (Y/N) how he truly feels. But for now, this was a good way to show her he cared.
