Chapter Text
You will always be weak-
My blood is on your hands, apprentice-
Jaro almost puts his lightsaber through someone before he even knows they're there, still reeling from... whatever he just saw. He stops before it touches, recognizing the presence. No, there is no threat here.
"General?" Commander Runi questions, voice cracking at the presence of the blue blade illuminating his throat.
He deactivates the saber, and takes a deep breath. He tries to steady himself within the Force, letting the ice within his mind go with it. That vision- it was Darker than any he has experienced in the past, all cold mockery and rage like frostbite. "My apologies, Commander. I was... not expecting visitors."
"Uh- yes, General. I did not mean to interrupt anything."
"Is there something you need, Commander?" Jaro asks. Runi looks ready to bolt out of the room at any moment. A fair response, given what Jaro almost did. Perhaps it is clearer to him than ever, just what this war is doing to the Jedi. So ready to take up arms at a glance, even when there is no threat in the Force.
He needs to clear his mind.
The commander clears his throat. "Yessir. You have training Cal in your schedule, and a meeting tonight, but no one has seen you today."
"...What time is it currently?" Jaro asks. Both of those things are meant to be in the afternoon, from what he remembers of this week's schedule.
"About eighteen-hundred ship-time. Were you... sleeping?"
Kriff, training was supposed to be at noon. Just how long had he been caught up in that vision? He knows that time is irrelevant in the Force, but the vision had been a short one. Only a handful of minutes, which have apparently turned into hours instead.
"Today's training is canceled," Jaro tells him, even if it must already be obvious. He doesn't think he can handle training Cal right now, not after that vision.
It is time for instruction-
You are no Jedi-
No, he can't train anyone right now. Not as he is. Not before he can properly sort through what he has Seen. It all feels like nonsense, what he saw, but it is buried within the Force. It was a Vision, no matter how surreal.
Jaro has never particularly wondered what Cal will look like in the future, when the boy is ready to take on the galaxy without him. He takes the days as they come, instead of wondering such pointless things. But the one in his Vision- so young and scarred, with tragedies marked on his skin and a horror dawning in his soul- is a Cal that he hopes he never has to see come into being.
You are a failure-
A weakling-
He needs Cal to know just how proud he is to have him for a Padawan.
