Or: The Cherry Magic! AU nobody asked for but you are getting anyway

Notes:

So, I got a sickness called "I can't watch any piece of media without feeling the need to make a SukuFushi fic out of it" and after watching three episodes of Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! last night I got this huge ass brainrot and decided to indulge.

I tried to look if anyone had made this with skfs already but couldn't find any. As for now I have literally no idea how long this will turn out to be, it's just a silly little self-indulgent thing I'll be writing to take small breaks from my other projects. I hope you enjoy!

Chapter Text

”He’s so handsome.”

“I wonder if he has a girlfriend.”

“Of course he does.”

Megumi listened to the hushed whispers coming from his left. The women in question weren’t talking about him. No, the object of their affection stood in front of Megumi, waiting for the elevator to arrive. Although he didn’t have much interest in men, nor in women for that matter, it was not hard to understand how it came to be that they were smitten. Gorgeous, tall, and with the body of an action figure.

Ryomen Sukuna was a man if Megumi ever saw one.

A hard worker too, he knew, since they worked in the same department. Always arriving in time, his hair flawless no matter the weather, polite. No wonder the women whispered about him.

Nobody whispered about Megumi. Not that he cared much. Being a thirty-year-old virgin didn’t bother him. It wasn’t that big of a mystery that he ended up that way. To meet someone, one had to go out, socialize, or make any other type of effort to make it happen.

Megumi did not do any of those things. His life happened in either his apartment or at the office, and that was about it. His virginity, therefore, was self-explanatory. Glancing at Sukuna’s broad shoulders and the short, dark hair in his neck, Megumi concluded that he probably lost his virginity in his teens.

The elevator dinged. Megumi usually placed himself in the corner. Now, Sukuna took that space, so Megumi ended up standing in front of him. The doors slid closed. No one spoke, as to be expected. A mild scent of something citrusy tickled his nose.

The elevator stopped about halfway up. Some people got off, and more people got on. A man that for some unknown reason was in a great hurry tripped over his own feet, bumped into another man, who then bumped into Megumi. He stumbled, his back colliding with a solid chest. An arm swiftly wrapped around his waist from behind.

Murmurs spread in the elevator, the man stuttered apologies. Megumi was far too busy with his own embarrassment, however, frozen solid in Sukuna’s embrace.

“Are you okay?” a deep voice spoke close to his ear. The hair in Megumi’s neck rose straight up.

Adding a terribly smooth and rich voice to the list of what made Ryomen Sukuna desirable.

“I’m so sorry,” Megumi said. He didn’t dare look up. It was enough to see the shape of Sukuna’s nose in the corner of his eye.

Holy shit, he’s so lithe. I don't want to let go.

Megumi blinked. That had been Sukuna’s voice, no doubt about it, but he had not spoken in his ear this time. It had felt like a vibration in his head, deeper, somehow. Eyes darting all around, he tried to see if there by any chance could be someone else had heard it too.

He must have imagined it. There was no way.

Sukuna’s arm slid off his waist. “Don’t be.”

The elevator reached their floor, and Megumi’s legs moved automatically when the people in front of him got off. He couldn’t stop thinking about it. It played over and over in his head. The way Sukuna’s voice had sounded. It had been filled with softness and… adoration.

There was no way. It must have been some sort of weird hallucination. The air in the elevator, or simply from not being fully awake yet. He simply could not have heard Sukuna’s voice in his head, like some form of telepathy.

What kind of manga-world did he think he lived in?

*

Under any other circumstances, Megumi wouldn’t have a hard time focusing on his work. Today, it ended up being impossible. Could anyone blame him? He peeked over the screen surrounding his desk in hopes of spotting Sukuna several times during the day. His cotton candy pink hair was easy to see even across the room.

No sign of him hearing anything other than the usual things around him. His boss Nanami came by to ask about a report he was to finish this week, and no matter how much Megumi stared at him, he didn’t hear anything but the things coming from Nanami’s mouth.

It wouldn’t leave him alone.

Megumi had to know. When it happened, Sukuna held him. If Megumi touched him, he might get his answer. How was he supposed to find a way to do that in a way that was natural? Moving his eyes over the screen, Megumi chewed his bottom lip.

A question about work. It wasn’t often he asked anyone about anything, tending to be awfully self-relying, but Sukuna was one of the top salesmen in the company. Asking for his advice would not be that strange.

Megumi looked through his mailbox, found an email which could be used as his bait, and printed it. Sukuna’s desk was on the other side of the room, and after snatching the paper from the printer, Megumi made his way over there.

When Sukuna sat by his computer, he always wore glasses with black frames. As Megumi moved closer, he could see his eyes move over the screen. The closer he got; the more Megumi hesitated. What was he thinking?

He was well on his way to turn and leave when Sukuna looked up, they made eye contact, and Sukuna smiled.

Damn it.

There was no other reason for Megumi to make his way to that side of the office unless it was to talk to someone over there. He tried to come off as relaxed as possible when he stopped by Sukuna’s desk after all. Sukuna twisted to face him. His perfect posture in the desk chair was near provoking.

“Can I ask you about something, Ryomen?”

“Of course,” Sukuna said. “What can I help you with?”

“Well, it’s, uhm…” Megumi paused. Would he need a lot of contact? Sukuna had his entire arm around Megumi’s waist in the elevator. No skin contact, however, as far as he remembered. He adjusted his stance, placed the paper on Sukuna’s desk. Sukuna turned his chair forward again. Megumi bent forward just enough so that his arm nudged Sukuna’s shoulder and pointed at the paper. “I did remember that you have worked with this client before, right?”

Sukuna hummed, gave a slow nod as he read the printed email. “I have. They were accommodating.”

He smells so nice, and by the gods, I wish he’d call me by my name. I bet it would sound so –

Megumi nearly flinched. It was just like it had been in the elevator. Sukuna’s voice streamed right into his head, and there was no way he had imagined that. Straightening up, Megumi lost contact with Sukuna’s body, and his voice disappeared. As if he would need any more confirmation, Megumi leant slightly to the side so that he could see Sukuna’s mouth properly. His lips didn’t move. After he had finished reading, he looked up at Megumi.

“I thought maybe you would like to be the one who kept in touch with them,” Megumi said.

It was ridiculous to come and ask that instead of just forwarding the email. He was prepared to come off as a bit stupid to make sure that he wasn’t losing his mind, however. And Sukuna didn’t seem to mind that he had come there.

“It’s alright. It doesn’t have to be me, and I don’t think they would mind that you got back to them.”

“Okay. Do I have to keep anything in mind?”

“Not that I can think of.”

Sukuna handed the paper back. Megumi reached for it and made sure to do it in a way that he ended up touching Sukuna’s fingers. He blessed his naturally stoic expression when Sukuna’s voice poured inside his head again.

He’s so fucking cute. I was scared that I went too far in the elevator, but he’s just like he always is, thank goodness. Is he looking at my lips? Oh god, he is. Are they chapped?

Sukuna’s tongue moved to wet his lips. Megumi lifted his gaze.

“Thank you.” Megumi took a step back. “Sorry for disturbing you.”

“Not at all. You can ask me anything, at any time.”

Megumi gave a short nod. Unless Sukuna was an awfully talented ventriloquist and playing a very strange joke, then Megumi was truly hearing his thoughts.

And Megumi might be a virgin, but even he understood that it sounded awfully much like Ryomen Sukuna was into him.

Notes:

A short first chapter to begin with, the upcoming will probably be longer. Let me know if there's any interest to an AU like this!
