2012
"why do you even bother to plant those seeds?"
junseo rumbles and rolls his eyes when he heard seokhwa trying to put his nose on his newest 'project'. he found those lemon seeds in the kitchen, on top of the counter, when he tries to sneak in and get some chocolate. it entertains him when he imagined what would happen if he could successfully nurture the seeds and get his own lemon.
"hyung, let's make a bet. if i can harvest the lemons, you will grant my wish."
"easy."
2024
seokhwa never knew that junseo actually asked his mother to buy him another lemon sapling from the market because his own lemon won't grow.
junseo grins softly when his mind wandered back. his head was looking down, staring at the marble flooring. it is way more eyecatching than anything else in the room. he hesitates when he tries to look up, knowing that name carving is right in front of his face.
little did he know that staring at the wooden carving can deepen the void space in him. it's not the carving that aches him. it's the urn behind the glass door and how it reminds junseo about the person who once lived closely.
"the lemon tree was cut down, hyung. and that is when i'm finally brave enough to visit you and tell you that i asked mom to buy me a new sapling that day."
he sighs. "it pained me how i still see the lemon tree even when you don't."
fin.
