Two hearts connected by one beat
-Journey to Bethlehem.
Experiencing emotions was not an easy thing to do. At least not for Glamrock Freddy.
His system was giving him several emotions at the same time as he waited for his superstar. His future wife.
Oh, because even if it wasn't official before the laws of humans, a marriage was going to happen between an animatronic and a human. Of course, hidden from the Pizzaplex's only security guard.
After each animatronic "woke up" following the incident with a child who snuck into the pizzeria, the robots' AI had undergone a major change that made them capable of feeling real emotions and thoughts on their own.
Freddy had been the first to develop human emotions, including love. One that came from meeting the new employee who would staff the Fazer Blast gift store.
Compared to other employees at the same attraction, the girl always greeted the bear in a cordial and friendly manner, sometimes asking him how he was doing or if he needed anything. Similar to how he treated his animatronic friends.
Even she had met Gregory and although at first, the kid showed no interest in getting along with her, the woman fought to befriend him after learning of the boy's situation, letting him know she would be there for him when he needed it.
This awakened a homey feeling in the bear. In addition, the woman would visit him in his green room whenever she could to talk about trivia or get some advice from him.
Affection was called love when Freddy experienced a negative emotion he never had before.
Jealousy.
Jealousy of a young man who, after being attended by the girl, began to frequent the place and the attraction just to see her.
After talking to his best friend Chica, he learned that this was a normal feeling for humans, but that it was not always reciprocated.
Unfortunately for Freddy, it ended in that result.
His superstar went to his room to talk to him about her happiness about her courtship with that boy. Freddy supported her as the good friend she saw in him.
And perhaps his affection for the girl would have returned to friendship were it not for the fact that he noticed bad behaviors in that man.
Freddy watched from afar, pretending to enjoy with the children who came to his attraction. He watched as his superstar fought with her boyfriend and he once tried to hurt her, so the animatronic did not hesitate to intervene and defend her.
He still doesn't understand why his superstar was so naive to believe that man's lies, ending in a broken illusion and an unplanned pregnancy.
The latter being the reason why Glamrock Freddy was now going to marry her.
The animatronic offered the woman to be the father of that baby and after thinking about it for a few days, the human entered his room to accept his proposal after asking the bear to marry her.
"Freddy?" he heard his chicken friend's voice, behind his bedroom door. "It's time, Gregory and Roxy have disabled the cameras and Vanessa has fallen asleep in the office."
The bear closed his eyes. Controlling his happiness and nerves. It was now or never.
He would make his superstar fall in love to make her forget that lout. Together they would start a family.
"Freddy, are you okay?" his friend sounded concerned.
"Yes, Chica. I'll be out in a moment."
"Fine, but hurry up, I don't know which of you two is more nervous," Chica let out a soft laugh. "The two of you make a cute couple."
In time, Freddy would notice.
He took one last look at himself in the mirror in his room. At his request, he wanted the wedding to be as close to a real one as possible, with the clothes, rings, decorations, practically everything.
His superstar did not refuse, on the contrary, after her breakup he could contemplate a loving gleam in the young woman's eyes. Reminding him of those glances that were directed only to him.
He still had a chance and he wouldn't let it go for anything in the world.
Freddy fixed his black jacket and bow tie to finally leave his room. For obvious reasons, everyone waited until closing time. Therefore, the ceremony would take place in the atrium, right on the stage where the animatronic band performs their shows for the public.
On the spot, the bear saw three of his robot friends standing next to Gregory. It was evident from the boy's features that he was bored.
"Finally, you arrive, we thought this would all be a fake," Roxy looked annoyed at the bear. "I'll go get Chica and that human, better get it over with soon to avoid Officer Vanessa."
Roxy left with hurried steps, making the ground shake which made Gregory alert.
"Seriously, you should stop doing that" the kid crossed his arms as he rolled his eyes.
"In your dreams, little guy. We'd stop being cool" Montgomery expressed haughtily.
"Are you ok, Freddy?"
At the animatronic sun's question, everyone turned their gaze to Freddy. For the first time, the bear felt embarrassed to have all eyes on him.
"Maybe a little bit. It's not something I've rehearsed ahead of time, let alone have it on my schedule," he answered honestly.
"It's amazing that you want to get married, I mean, I never expected you guys to feel real emotions" Gregory looked at the bear. The time they met, the boy had taken into account that Freddy was a robot and was programmed to protect him. Over time, however, he understood that the bear's actions to care for him were genuine.
"The amazing thing is that you want to marry a human. What's so special about that?" Monty arranged his glasses in the shape of a heart. At Chica's insistence, he had to put away his other glasses that night.
Freddy fisted his hands, giving the alligator an annoyed look. He wasn't going to fight that night, he had to restrain himself to make the ceremony perfect. He was not going to let his superstar down. Another day he would argue with the animatronic.
"You wouldn't understand," was his only response.
"Here comes the bride!" Sun exclaimed in happiness as he pointed behind the bear.
Freddy panicked. A Staff-Bot in a suit played the typical wedding music. Monty, Sun and Gregory took their seats next to the guests (other Staff-Bots and curiously some Caution Bot as well).
Roxanne took the stage since she would be the one officiating the wedding. Behind her, carrying a small basket full of pink and white flowers on her paws, was Glamrock Chica.
The chicken scattered the flowers on the carpet that led to the archway improvised with materials found on the premises.
"Freddy, buddy. Turn around" Chica encouraged, having a radiant smile. She admitted that this wedding thing was starting to grow on her.
Glamrock looked at her and then at Roxanne. Unlike what he expected, the she-wolf looked content, happy. An emotion she rarely reflected with affection and not with self-centeredness.
The animatronic turned and its bright blue orbs settled on the only female human in the atrium.
He opened his muzzle involuntarily. He had become speechless after seeing his beautiful superstar.
The human was wearing a long sky-blue dress with long sleeves, floral embroidery could be seen on the skirts of the dress and her hair was tied back in a braided ponytail.
She was the most beautiful human Freddy had ever seen in his robotic life. He felt his body heat up and if he was able to blush would everyone present notice.
The young woman walked along the reddish carpet. At no time did she look away from the bear. Both could sense each other's nervousness.
The music stopped once the girl arrived next to the animatronic bear. Roxy cleared her voice before she began to say the words a judge says in such cases.
The bear and the human were not paying attention. The two were engaged in a kind of staring game where they were both losing.
It wasn't until Chica approached to hand over the rings (items found in Lost & Found and never picked up) which rested on a heart-shaped pillow.
The couple-to-be took one to look at each other again. Roxy mentioned other words where the bride and groom were allowed to put the rings on. First it was Freddy to his superstar and then she to the bear.
"Superstar, I promise to make you happy every day. To be by your side no matter what and to protect our family from any danger" Freddy began with the vows.
"I promise to try to love you like you do. To be there for you despite what others say about our differences. I want to raise this baby together with you and form a normal family" The female finished, keeping a hopeful expression.
"By the power vested in me no more than 24 hours ago, I the best one and only Roxanne Wolf, pronounce you man and wife" the she-wolf combed her hair back, looking vain.
Freddy leaned into the human's face. He would try to kiss her despite their notable physical differences. All he succeeded in doing was to give her a sort of peck on the cheek since the human turned her head to the side.
The action disappointed the animatronic a bit, but he knew it would take time for his superstar to accept him as her mate.
For the rest of the night, the animatronics remained in Fazcade. From time to time one of the four principals would take turns watching Vanessa, counting on the good fortune that the other human was fast asleep.
As there were only two humans as guests, it was not necessary to prepare a banquet. Gregory congratulated the couple and then went off to eat whatever caught his eye, while the woman had no appetite.
"Superstar, are you feeling right?" positioned at her height, as the woman was sitting in one of the chairs with round tables that the attraction had.
"I'm fine...well, sort of. Overwhelmed in fact," she raised her gaze to look at her now husband. "I never imagined I'd get married, let alone under circumstances like this and have it all happen so suddenly... I don't know how to explain it."
"I feel the same as you," the bear took one of the small hands and tried to entwine it with his own. Seeing that small gesture, the girl smiled and circled an orange claw. "Since I started experiencing emotions, I feel that I am no longer the same Freddy everyone knows, the one Bonnie knew. Now every emotion is accompanied by an inexplicable fear, as if at any moment I'm going to ruin who I am."
"Freddy-boy, I had no idea of your feelings" with her free hand the human fondly caressed the bear's cheek, Freddy purred in response to the nickname. "Forgive me, these days I've only thought about myself and my future. I have never wanted to leave you aside. I'm selfish."
"You have nothing to forgive for, superstar. I'd take anything from you."
"Now that we are husband and wife, promise that, if anything bothers you about me, no matter how slight, you will tell me," the woman sentenced, her bright eyes glittering in the soft lights of attraction. "Promise me," she pleaded.
"I promise you, honey."
The human's facial expression relaxed.
"Maybe one day I can learn to love you too."
The girl smiled nervously; Freddy loved the embarrassed look on his beloved's face. He felt warmth in his system, he had made her smile and Freddy wished he could do it for a long time more.
"Shall we dance?" he trailed off to then extend one of his paws. Again, the human laughed in acceptance of the invitation.
The animatronic led her to the dance floor, Dj Music Man was happy to see them and played a song ideal for the moment. Soon after, Chica joined in with Monty, and so did Sun.
When Roxy returned from watching Vanessa, she found everyone dancing, she tried to go unnoticed but due to the return of the Gregory, those present noticed the presence of those two inciting them to join in.
For the first time in years, Freddy felt a familiar atmosphere. Very different from what he was used to during the day.
Days later, the young human girl secretly moved into the Mega Pizzaplex.
The money she earned from her job at the store was not enough to pay the rent for the apartment where she lived. She had no family to help her, her parents had passed away and her trusted friends were out of city.
She knew she would have to find another job to support her baby, Freddy had made it clear to her that he would find some way to help her raise money properly.
She was two months pregnant and her belly was quite noticeable. Some of her coworkers asked her about the father. The woman always answered them with a proud smile.
"My son has a better father and he deserves that title more than that jerk who fathered him."
When Freddy was around, he couldn't help but smile with satisfaction. Especially when employees were curious about the ring on his wife's ring finger.
His superstar changing her arrogant smile to a softer, more loving one. Lovingly describing her adorable and handsome husband. For safety's sake, the couple formed an agreement where neither would give any further details about their relationship, their friends agreed in case any fans or staff at the pizzeria wanted to get smart and investigate with any member.
Little by little the human was beginning to feel attracted to the bear. If Freddy could, she knew he would be by her side 24 hours a day. To the bear's relief, he always found calm every night when he tucked his wife in to sleep comfortably, as well as singing softly to both her and their baby.
Oh, and of course, not to forget the many handmade gifts (a bit poorly done, but Freddy did his best) that the woman received.
The nights were difficult for the human due to her condition. Escaping and hiding from Vanessa was no easy task, so Roxy, Monty and Chica distracted the guard with silly excuses so the girl could stay in the bear's room after closing the Pizzaplex.
"If you were small in stature and didn't find yourself waiting for our baby, it would be easier to hide you in my chest cavity" Freddy commented as he helped her lie down on the large orange couch. The bear had to remove the large stuffed animal that represented him to free up space.
"Still, I wouldn't want to hide there. No offense, my love, but I would not like to be crushed to death by my own husband" the girl settled a pillow over her head, the bear subsequently bestowing a blanket. "Gregory has my respects for daring to come in."
"He's a kid with a lot of surprises. Maybe our son will be the same way" Freddy wiggled his ears up and down. A little habit he picked up every time he was feel happy.
"One child like that is enough. Two would be a lethal weapon" the human grinned from ear to ear.
For a few brief minutes the atmosphere became a comfortable silence.
"Is that how it feels?"
"Huh? How it feels what?"
"The love. Does it feel so homey and warm?" the bear looked at his wife curiously. "If this is love, I want to feel it forever."
"You're too cute for this world, Freddy-boy" the woman let out a small laugh.
"May I?" the blue orbs shifted from looking at the human's face to the bulging belly. He wanted to feel the tiny baby. Like a child, Freddy clenched his paws together in embarrassment at his request.
"Sure, you're his father after all" she accommodated to allow him better access to the bear.
Freddy carefully knelt down and in the same way directed one of his paws towards his wife's belly. The sensation he felt was hard to describe, but somehow, he could sense it, his human baby was there, waiting to meet the world.
The animatronic had a myriad of new emotions every day. He had started practicing at the daycare with Sun to learn how to care for and protect a baby or child under the age of five.
He couldn't wait to meet and hold his son in his arms.
He shared a loving look with his wife. The woman suddenly began to squint her eyes in exhaustion.
Freddy pulled away and kissed her on the head, wishing her good night.
One more night he became the guardian of his two superstars.
People say that time is relative, well for a woman who is pregnant, time passes too quickly. Like the blink of an eye.
The last month for the young cashier arrived, with her basic knowledge (and some internet research) Chica and Roxy helped her to bring her baby into the world.
That night, Freddy looked more like a caged tiger as he paced back and forth outside his room. His wife's cries of pain did nothing to calm him.
Monty, Gregory and Sun (occasionally Moon would show up to encourage him) distracted him from his negative thoughts.
The baby's arrival lasted well over two hours. Gregory had to find a way to put a sleeping pill in Vanessa's water bottle. Only then would she sleep longer than necessary and they would avoid a serious problem.
"That's the first time I've ever seen you so anxious," Monty observed the bear with a raised eyebrow. "Even at your wedding you didn't look like that."
"It's part of the process, Monty," Sun interjected. He too was worried, yet the big smile on his face demonstrated the opposite. "In daycare I've run into first-time parents, they're quite anxious and overprotective of their children."
"Hey, that’s enough!" exclaimed Gregory as he held his bear friend's arm.
At the words of his friends, Freddy began to grow impatient. He was about to go into his room to stay calmer when Roxy came out, looking exhausted.
"I never thought I'd say it, but female humans are too strong. Even me being an animatronic I don't consider myself capable of withstanding that much pain" the she-wolf pretended to wipe a bead of sweat from her forehead.
"Th-They, are they okay?" Freddy almost stammers.
"Safe and sound. See for yourself" Roxanne stepped aside, allowing passage.
Freddy looked at the large window covered with red curtains. Without thinking, he remained static. As if his body prevented him from moving, it wasn't until he felt a small touch on one of his paws. He looked down, meeting Gregory's hand.
"Come on. They're waiting for you" the boy smiled genuinely at him.
The animatronic got the courage he needed, walked beside Gregory to his room. The boy took the entry pass out of his pocket and the automatic door opened.
Lying on the orange sofa holding a small bundle in her hands, the young woman rested after a great effort. Glamrock Chica stood to the side, admiring the human baby.
"Congratulations, cutie. That's a beautiful baby."
"Thanks Chica, could you thank Roxy for me?" The woman settled the bluish blanket over her child a bit.
"Sure, sweetie," the chicken smiled, then her gaze met that of her friend and Gregory. "Freddy, Gregory, don't be shy and meet this cuddly baby."
Gregory tried to push the bear to make him react and go first. Freddy shook his head sideways, coming to his senses. Cautiously and with some fear he approached his wife.
"Freddy-boy, meet our son" the woman moved the blanket, leaving better visibility to the baby's face.
The animatronic analyzed it without activating the scanner light. It was a healthy boy, with a normal weight and an average size of a newborn baby.
Their son was finally with them.
"He's beautiful, superstar" joy couldn't fit in his system. "What shall we call him?"
"Umm... maybe his big brother can suggest some name" the young mother brought her gaze to the kid standing a few feet away.
"Me?" Gregory raised an eyebrow, doubtful.
"Sure, your part of this family too, Greg" the human female smiled warmly. "Well, do you have any names?"
"Honestly... no. I don't even have any siblings" the boy lowered his head to the ground.
"That's changed now, superstar" Freddy granted him a sympathetic look.
"How about you, Freddy?" Gregory countered toward the bear. "Any names? Please don't let it be Freddy Jr."
"Actually..." Freddy seemed to think about it. "I like the name Evan."
"Evan?" The mother contemplated each syllable. "I love it."
"Me too," nodded Gregory.
"It’s a pretty name" Chica says.
"Welcome to the Fazbear family, little Evan" Freddy looked at his baby son.
"Look, he's opening his eyes!" Chica shrieked.
The pair of both species watched the baby's movements expectantly. The newborn stretched out his tiny hands as he slowly opened his eyes.
Suddenly, blue irises were staring at everyone present. First at her mother, then at Freddy, Gregory and Chica.
"It’s blue" the animatronic bear looked amazed at the discovery.
"Just like yours, honey." The woman felt like crying from happiness.
"Aww, you are a beautiful family. I know! This moment warrants a photo. I'll go get a Faz-Cam" Glamrock Chica was so excited that no one dared to interrupt her as she left the room with hurried steps.
"I think I'll go with her; I'll probably find some pizza boxes first before the camera" Gregory excused himself. Actually, he wished to leave the couple alone to enjoy the birth.
When the kid came out, the door closed again behind him. In the distance both parents could hear the calm voices of the other animatronics. Later they would have the opportunity to meet the new member.
"Do you want to carry him?" the female asked as she noticed her husband's uneasiness.
"He's comfortable with you" Freddy feared harming his son.
"I've seen you carry children younger than him. Freddy-boy, don't be afraid, Evan will recognize that you are his father. The only father who always looked out for him."
As was becoming customary, confidence came to the animatronic after hearing his wife's words.
Freddy positioned his arms in the same way Sun taught him. With extreme gentleness, the mother placed her baby in the bear's arms.
As soon as Evan felt the change in temperature the newborn showed a grimace of discomfort, it was not until his blue eyes looked curiously at the other pair of the same color.
There was a little laughter, transmitting throughout the room. Then tears appeared.
It was Freddy.
The mother noticed this new ability in her husband. She knew that animatronics could simulate crying, Roxy used to do it often, but none of them really had the ability to shed tears.
She preferred not to say anything, ruining the moment was not in her plans. After all, Freddy deserved the joy he was experiencing.
After living with so many other people's children, he finally got his chance to have a child of his own. Despite the circumstances, of course.
"Thank you, superstar. For everything," the bear thanked through crystal clear tears. At least it was water.
"I'm the one who should be thanking you, Freddy. You've been there for me through everything, you love my baby as if it were your own kind. I can't ask for anything more" without either of them noticing, they had already begun to pour their hearts out. "I love you, Glamrock Freddy Fazbear."
A soft smile escaped the bear's lips, infecting the little baby.
"I don't regret falling in love with you. I could never choose to love another."
