Chapter Text
I have a routine. Every-time I cross another name off my list I go get mocha at my favorite coffee shop and sit there for a while. Because I had to change my plans a bit in the last week, my trip to the coffee shop had to be done on a Monday morning, which let me tell you is everyones’ worst nightmare. Not only does everything take longer but the chances of having to sit next to someone are far too great.
After some time waiting in the queue I finally get to order my mocha. I sit down at a table near a window, putting my mug down. The mocha was worth the wait. It always is. I watch the street through the window enjoying myself when a hand suddenly taps my shoulder.
“Um, excuse me, but is there any chance I could sit with you?” I look at the quite obviously a uni student awkwardly balancing their coffee, books and a laptop.
“I really don’t want to bother you, but this is the only table with a free seat left.”
“Sure, you can sit with me,” Not that I’m too happy about it but you can.
They mostly keep to themselves which I gotta say is a big plus, but then they keep eyeing me indecisively. This is too weird. “Is there a problem or anything?” I ask trying my best not to sound threatening.
“No, not at all,” they reply instantly, “It’s just that um, uuh… Okay, fuck it, this is going to be weird no matter how I say it. Is there any chance you’re a doctor or something like that? I’m not sure how long it takes for someone to bleed out with deep cuts on their inner thighs and a stab wound right below their liver?”
Are they for real? I mean it’s not like I don’t know how long it takes, I’ve tried it quite a few times but it’s not actually that funny of a way to kill someone.
“It takes about half an hour,” I say calmly.
“Oh, so you’re a doctor?” they ask with their eyes shimmering with excitement.
“No, not anything like that…” I chuckle.
They pause, but then their eyes shoot up at me with realization. Oh, shit. Is my cover blown?
“Wait, you’re a writer too?!”
Oh… Not quite, but sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
