Chapter Text
All I remember was working on a new invention for my troupe, receiving a notification on my phone then seeing a flash. It blinded me for a second, after that I got teleported somewhere, and then knocked out.
....
I suddenly woke up. I was in a classroom, sitting on a chair. But...how? It doesn't look like any of Kamiyama classrooms, so I didn't fall asleep in school. "Where am I..?" I looked around and noticed an envelope next to me. I opened it, and read the text:
"Name: Kamishiro Rui
Ultimate: engineer
Date of birth: June 24th
Height: 182cm
For more information about your current stay, please head to the gym."
That's strange. Why is there my personal information? I mean, it's not THAT deep, but— wait wait wait. My...ultimate? What is this? 'For more information about your current stay, please head to the gym.' Guess that's what I'll do. And maybe, I'll find Tsukasa-kun and the others on my way here.
I got up from the chair and left the classroom.
???:"No, Minori don't run!! You'll break something or bump into someone if you keep running like this-!"
Before I could turn around to check who it is, a short, brown haired girl ran into me, causing us both to almost fall. Hopefully I kept my balance.
???:"Aah! Sorry, sorry! I didn't notice you, I'm sorry!!-"
the brown haired girl apologized, and got off of me.
???: "A-are you okay?"
The Another girl said. What the heck? Nene, I didn't mean THAT by— (I'm sorry-)
Rui: "Ah, ye..yes I am. Thank you for concern. But, may I ask what's your name?"
I finally spoke up. I probably look dumb, a girl just dumbed into me and I just stared at her. Congrats, Rui...
Both of the girls nodded and smiled. I noticed the other girl was around the same height as that brown haired one. She also had two pigtails, each on the other side.
???: "M-my name's Kohane Azusawa, the ultimate Photographer! Nice to meet you."
The one with pigtails spoke. I think I've heard of that name before...or maybe I'm just hallucinating.
???: "I'm Minori Hanasato, the ultimate...future...Idol!"
Well, I think it's time for me. I nodded, and spoke.
Rui: '' I'm Rui Kamishiro, the ultimate..."
Wait? Ultimate? Were they talking about..those nicknames on that envelope?
"The...ultimate engineer. Pleased to meet you both."
Minori: "Wait..your ultimate's an engineer?! Does that mean you know where we are???"
Kohane: "Minori...i don't think he will know that.."
Where are we? Right, where even am I? Did me, and these girls got kidnapped..? Let's hope not.
Rui: "unfortunately, I don't. "
The girls lost spark in their eyes for a second, but eventually nodded back.
Kohane: "...told you so."
Well, even they are as lost as I am.
"They also have those 'ultimates' so.."
Rui: "I've got an envelope that said to meet up at the gym for more information. Maybe...we should go together?"
Minori: "yeah! Let's go!"
Kohane: "But..do we even know where to go? I don't have any map of this place on me, so.."
Rui: "I think it's not that far. Let's go. "
Kohane: "S-sure..lets go then. "
We all started walking down the hallway. After about two minutes of walking, we made it to big, dark blue doors with a 'GYM' designator.
Rui: "I guess we're here. "
Kohane&Minori: "mhm."
I pushed the doors open and let the girls walk in first, (Rui gentleman real) me following after. I looked around. The room was crowded with around 17 other people, some of them familiar with me, some of them aren't. "Guess I'll meet some new people today." (Or not)
I noticed the girls I met a few minutes ago already went off into the crowd, leaving me alone.
???: "Look! He's here! Wonderhoy Rui-kun!"
I'd recognize that voice anywhere. Before I could say hi back, Emu, one of my troupe members, ran up to me and hugged me. God, it's the second time today!
???:" E-Emu, calm down! "
???: "Haha! Emu surely is in mood today even in circumstances like these!"
Rui: "hello hello, Emu-san."
Emu let go of me. I looked up to see my other troupe members— Nene, my childhood friend, and Tsukasa, our future star, also the leader of our troupe. Relief washed over me upon seeing them all, together again.
Rui: "hello there, everyone. "
Emu: "Rui-kun Rui-kun! Do you know where we-"
???: "ah, finally those three decided to FINALLY show up! Great!!"
Tsukasa&Emu&Nene&Rui: "huh?"
I turned around to see....Hatsune Miku!? But...no, that's not her. She looked...different. Some gasps were heard throughout the gym. So, I am not seeing things. Good to know.
Miku?: "Okay, so since we're all here, I can finally start my speech! MonoRin, please give me the microphone!"
"MonoRin? Who-?"
As Miku? went up to the main stage, another silhouette appeared next to her. It appears to be that 'MonoRin.' She gave the microphone to Miku? and stepped back.
That 'Miku' had two, long pigtails. Nothing special, right? Well, this Miku had one pigtail black, the other one white. She also had a school uniform, it almost looked like Miyamasuzaka uniform. It looked identically to the one Emu wore to school, (Yk, emu often breaks in to Kamiyama, that's why Rui knows how it looks like) except the skirt was all red and the upper part black&white.
Miku?: "ehem, ehem. Welcome everyone! I am MonoMiku! And ONLY MonoMiku! If any of you dare to call me 'Miku', will be punished!!"
I out of curiosity looked around again to notice that a band formed by four girls, one of them being that girl Minori, had terrified, and puzzled expressions. "Punishment? What does she mean by...a punishment? "
MonoMiku: "And! Do not dare to ask questions as to WHY is that! I won't answer anyway! Haha!"
Other 'vocaloids' that appeared after MonoRin, just laughed. They're all surely not our vocaloids we know...
Tsukasa: "Hey, why aren't others surprised to see 'vocaloids' standing right in front of them??? Isn't it...too weird??
Emu: " Maybe they too have super-duper wonderhoy sekai's like us!!!!"
Nene: "E-Emu!! Don't yell out like that...! What if they don't have one, but someone will hear what you just said and think that we're...weird or something??"
I chuckled.
Rui: "I kinda got used to being called... weird, y'know."
Nene just gave me a 'seriously?' glare. I chuckled again at her doing so which gave me a punch from her elbow back.
MonoMiku: "Hey!!!! You, wonderlands X shittime kiddos at the back! Stop interrupting my speech and listen, because I won't be repeating myself AGAIN!"
That took me aback. Excuse me?
Tsukasa: "H-How did she just call us?! "
Nene: "We should probably just...shut up."
Emu: "...Yes. We're sorry, Miku— ehem MonoMiku!"
MonoMiku: "hm...since it's your first time here, then I'll forgive ya all. BUT! If ANY of you ever interrupts my speech again, then they will be punished!"
I heard Nene mutter something to herself. It went along the lines of:
Nene: "God, okay okay..."
She was irritated, that's for sure.
MonoMiku: "As I said! My name's MonoMiku, welcome, blah blah blah, You all have your ultimates, blah blah blah..."
Len?: "uhm...I think you should tell them about the...game, or at least explain more. "
MonoMiku looked at Len?.
MonoMiku: "ha, right...so! A certain...person was bored enough to trap you all here, FOREVER! HAHA!! But, you must ask then...why??? Or...how??? Well! You all have a thing called a SEKAI, as far as I'm aware. And yes, you all are trapped in...drums please!"
She looked to the side, Luka? and KAITO? nodded and began to clap with their hands on their laps.
MonoMiku: "...in Painful SEKAI! WOOO!!!"
"....what??! We're...trapped here?! Forever??" I looked around and noticed almost everyone with...horrified expressions. Well, except for one, purple haired girl. She seemed...unfazed. Creepy..
???: "but...what do you mean by forever??? We still have our goals, families, LIFE outside of this..sekai!
Minori: " Right! We can't just stay here, because someone felt lonely!"
That whole 'speech' caused a lot of controversy. Even Emu, who once was so cheerful, was now..scared? I turned to see my childhood friend's reaction. Same as others. Horrified, disgusted, but also sad. I placed my hand on her shoulder to show her some comfort, that I am here for her, just like she was for me many times before.
???: "There MUST be a way to get out of here! "
Mhm's of agreement echoed through the gym from others. Right, there must be a way out. And we'll find it, otherwise...who will make others smile? Who will give hope to everyone? Who will...save others? Who will surpass their goals? Who will become a pro? Who will—
MonoMiku: "actually, there IS a way!-"
Tsukasa: "there is??! Tell us! "
Kohane: Yeah, tell us! Please...!"
Nene: mhm!!
MonoMiku looked annoyed again because someone interrupted her, yet again. But, that look quickly changed to one of...happiness?
MonoMiku: "By killing! One of you must kill to get out of here! "
Silence took over the gym.

...[̲̅k][̲̅i][̲̅l][̲̅l]...?
...[̲̅i][̲̅s] [̲̅s][̲̅h][̲̅e]...[̲̅s][̲̅e][̲̅r][̲̅i][̲̅o][̲̅u][̲̅s]
Emu's eyes began to tear up. Nene's and the others, too.
MonoMiku: "hmm? Who so quiet all of a sudden? Isn't it great? You all have a way to escape!!!!"
...
"̶A̶c̶t̶u̶a̶l̶l̶y, ̶i̶t'̶s ̶w̶o̶r̶t̶h ̶i̶t."
Emu: "wha...what?
???: "no...way..."
???: "...you're joking, right..?! You must be! "
I was quiet all the time. I didn't even have the courage to speak up. I just...that's too much.
Tsukasa: "We can't just kill! I don't think any of us would even have the guts to...do THAT! "
MonoMiku: "ah, well, I think— no, I KNOW someone eventually will kill! "
"What? No, no one would ever do that..! Right???"
MonoMiku: "...okay, it's getting a bit irritating that everyone's sooo silent. I guess that means I can end our first, and not last, meeting for today! "
MEIKO?: "didn't you forget about something, MonoMiku?"
MonoMiku: "hmm...ah, yeah, I did. Sorryyyyyyyyy...but I did my job for today, so you, MonoMEIKO could also do that for me. Byeee and happy killing!~ Wonderhoy!"
MonoMiku then took off the stage and disappeared.
My heart almost dropped to my stomach after hearing the last sentence. I don't even know which one hurt more. That whole 'happy killing!~' or her, that monster..using 'wonderhoy' so casually. It almost felt like a betrayal hearing that word coming out of that damnned 'MonoMiku'.
Instead, also irritated MonoMEIKO stood up in her place.
MonoMEIKO?: "alright everybody, MonoMiku forgot to tell you some other important information, so I will do it instead. Firstly, you all will receive Sekaipads, alongside your dorm keys. You all may freely explore the SEKAI, you may visit each other whenever you want, but except for the nighttime, which is from 10 PM to 7 AM in the morning. During that time the water will also be turned off, the cafeteria, pool and the library will be closed. Also, sleeping anywhere but your dorm is strictly prohibited, since it will be taken as 'sleeping during rehearsals' and will have it's punishment. Oh, and I almost forgot— any violence towards any of the Monoloids, is strictly prohibited, too. The cafeteria will be open after 7:30 AM. Time you will eat is to your own liking. We do not care, as long as you won't starve yourselves to death.
"Ah, that's...a lot of information. I think I should note it dow—"
MonoMEIKO: "If I forgot about anything or if your memory if bad, you can always check the rules in your sekaipad. Have a great time. "
After that, all of the 'Monoloids' disappeared.
Suddenly, I felt a pair of hands gripping my sleeve from behind. I turned around to be met with KAITO. but, is it really KAITO?
KAITO?: "Here, please take it. Also, good luck. "
Rui: "...Thank you. I guess? "
He gave me a...'sekaipad' and my 'dorm' keys. Guess I really will stay here for a while...
I looked down at those things, before looking up again and looking at my friends.
What I saw was heartbreaking, to say at least. Nene was hugging Emu with them both crying, while Tsukasa was just staring into nothing.
I walked up to him and placed my hand on his shoulder.
Rui: "Tsukasa-kun...dont worry, we'll get out of here—"
Tsukasa turned around and fake smiled.
Tsukasa: "Ha, what do you mean? Do you think a STAR like me would just cry here? No way! How dare you underestimate my emotions, Rui-kun?! "
I had to admit, Tsukasa looked like he was already crying inside. I just...wanna hug him, or at least show him comfort. That's what friends do in situations like these, right?
Rui: "...you know that showing emotions isn't making you look weak, but human? "
Tsukasa went silent. He was still fake smiling.
Tsukasa: "..I must say, you know me too well. But! That doesn't mean I'll cry like a baby now! "
He escaped my grip and went up to Nene and Emu. Before he could speak, Nene cut him off.
Nene:" We will be going to...my dorm, okay..? "
Rui: "ah...okay. I really hate to say this, but stay safe. "
It hurt as hell.
The girls nodded, and Nene almost started dragging Emu, who was still silently crying onto her shoulder to the door.
I turned to tsukasa.
Tsukasa: "I'll..I'll check up on Saki and her friends. Don't worry about me, a star like me won't ever get lost! Haha! "
And before I could do anything, he went off into the gym to find his sister.
"I think i'll head to my own new dorm, too..I'm already tired from this place. "
