The little imp was tormenting him. He fluttered about in his bright clothes, warbling his little tunes, hoping to entice the great bear. He felt like growling. He was not a prize to be won. Yet… sometimes, when the imp set down his masks, revealed the depths of his soul, Arnaghad couldn’t help but be intrigued. He was older than he seemed and scarred in a way that called to the bear. He leaned forward and pressed one large finger to the bard’s mouth.
‘Hush now, little imp,’ he growled.
Valdo fell silent, eyes wide. Arnaghad smiled in predatory delight.
