Chapter Text
~Daniel~
Daniel knew what his ancestors were about, but he refused to follow in his family’s footsteps. He decided to be more like his older brother, Ominis. Although he didn’t use the dark arts for evil intentions(he was only thirteen after all), and didn’t plan too in the future, he was still not a very nice person. He was raised to be cocky and arrogant. When he was sorted into Hufflepuff, he realised that his bloodline didn’t define him. He would never bully, but if someone ever asked a favour from him, he would gladly profit off of it. People thought that he was rude and obnoxious due to his arrogance. He heard his peers, and even some of his teachers talking about him.
“How did he get into Hufflepuff?” “He’s so arrogant.” “He’s a direct descendant from Salazar Slytherin.” “I don’t believe that he really deserves to be in Hufflepuff.”
He always ignored these snide comments, but some of them still hurt him. Especially the ones from his professors and students in his year and those in Hufflepuff house. His best friend Alex Daun was a fourth year Gryffindor, and they were in crossed wands together, and were usually on the same team, but sometimes Lucan Brattleby changed it up, and the two fought on opposite sides of the courtyard. They also played quidditch, and while Alex was a chaser, Daniel was a beater. They only played against each other twice, because Headmaster Black decided to remove quidditch from the elective curriculum this year. The entire school was upset about it, but especially Imelda Reyes. She was the Slytherin captain, and the star flyer, so she was visibly upset by this sudden change. He heard her complaining to Ominis and his boyfriend Sebastian. She was whining so loudly, and Daniel and Alex exchanged looks, like, she is seriously over reacting .
Suddenly he saw Leander Prewett walking past, and his heart skipped a beat. He knew he was gay from the moment he laid eyes on Leander. No questions asked. Alex knew this, of course, but was not thrilled. Alex was fine with Daniel being gay, but Leander was Alex’s cousin, and also a little bit of a bitch.
Ominis hated Leander, but Daniel found him endearing. His flame red hair, and vibrant freckles. Those adorable dimples, but most of all, his personality. Leander could be a bit arrogant at times, but he was nice to his friends. Daniel always froze up when he saw Leander talking to someone. Those dimples were breathtaking.
He sighed, staring longingly at Leander as he walked by, talking to Natsai Onai - she liked to be called Natty - another fifth year Gryffindor. Suddenly, Natty looked behind her and Leander and saw Daniel staring. He blushed, looking away nervously.
Alex nudged him in the shoulder, and whispered, “I think Natty might think that you like her,” “There is no way!” Daniel responded whisper shouting. “She’s older than me. There is no way she thinks I like her.” “You never know, Danny. She might like you. Do you want me to talk to her for you? I can tell her that you don’t like her.” “No!” Daniel shouted loudly. Some sixth years who were walking past stared at them in confusion. Alex gave them a stare back, like, leave us alone. It’s none of your business . Daniel appreciated his friend.
“Alex, do you want to go to the room of requirement to talk about this more privately?” Daniel asked. “Sorry, I can’t. Garreth wants me to help him with a new edible potion. Sharp doesn’t trust him, so Garreth wants me to get his supplies for him, and because I’ve never been reprimanded, Sharp still trusts me. Well anyways, see you later Danny!” Alex said, strutting off.
— —
Alex had gone against Daniel’s wishes, and went to talk to Natty in the Gryffindor commons that night. He was about to tell Daniel what he had done, but suddenly Leander walked up behind them, and rested his hand on a heavy hand on Daniel’s shoulder. Daniel shuddered violently, and he felt something in his stomach flip as he heard Leander’s deeper, more mature voice whisper, “Hey Daniel. I heard you wanted to talk to me.” Daniel spun around so fast, he felt the whiplash himself.
“H-hi, Leander. What are you doing here?” “Nothing, I just heard from a friend that you wanted to get to know me.” Leander said in a seductive voice.
What did you tell her? Daniel used legilimency to question why Leander knew that he wanted to talk with him. I just told Natty that you didn’t like her that way! Alex said. Well clearly she found out somehow and told Leander! Daniel thought. I’m sorry! Alex thought back. “Talking about me?” Leander said with a smirk, caressing Daniel’s upper right arm. Daniel shuddered again, feeling all weird inside, and Leander was looking pleased with himself.
“Daniel, may I speak with you.. Alone?” Leander said, giving Alex a death stare. “Su-sure!” Daniel squeaked, and gave Alex a look like, don’t wait up . Alex didn’t seem too thrilled with his cousin's new found fascination with his best friend.
Leander grabbed Daniel’s arm, and led him to a dark corner that Daniel hadn’t even seen before.
“So, I heard you have the hots for me,” Leander said. Very subtle , Daniel thought. “Um… I… yeah,” Daniel sighed, not really knowing what to say. “Well how about we see if the feeling is mutual,” Leander said, looking straight at Daniel’s lips. Suddenly Daniel felt himself getting pulled in by the torso, and his face being grabbed by a cold hand. A soft, yet aggressive kiss was planted on his own lips. He held it for a few seconds, before pulling back, blushing so hard, he felt like his skin would melt off if Leander continued to look at him with those gorgeous hazel eyes.
A slight smirk crept onto Leander’s face, and Daniel felt his stomach melting. He rushed off to his dorm, and stuck his face in his pillow. He screamed in excitement, and then grinned ear to ear.
By Godric, that was fantastic! Daniel then started crying, though he didn’t know why. Was he still in shock? Did he feel regret for kissing his best friend’s cousin? Did he feel bad for running away so abruptly? Anyway, all he knew was that he loved Leander, and now he was pretty sure the feeling was in fact mutual.
— —
A few hours later, he went down to the Great Hall for supper, and before he could walk to the Hufflepuff table, he again felt his arm getting yanked. Oh Godric, was Leander going to kiss him again? No. He was dead wrong. Instead he was greeted by a very angry looking Alex.
“What did you do?” Alex asked, his jaw clenched, and speaking furiously. “How could you kiss him!” Alex yelled. He was being held at wand point by his best friend. This was the most terrifying experience he had ever had, and he’d had a lot of bad experiences.
“He’s my bloody cousin! You can’t go running around kissing the shit out of him!” “What!?! I didn’t kiss him, he kissed me!” “But you didn’t pull away! You could have, but you didn’t.” Alex said, finally putting his wand down. “I’ll let you go this time, but if I see or hear one more thing about you and my cousin, I will murder you.” Alex growled, storming off.
“What was that about?” Daniel spun around at the sound of Leander’s masculine voice. “Ignore him. He’s just mad that you got your first kiss before him.” “I can’t be seen with you. I’m sorry.” Daniel said, running out of the Great Hall, the corner of his eyes burning with the salty sting of his tears. He sprinted across the castle, down to his common room, not even bothering to grab a bite to eat from the kitchens. He laid in bed sobbing his eyes out until he had no more tears left to shed.
He cast a silencing charm around his bed, and hid under the covers, so that if any of his roommates walked into the dorm, they wouldn’t see him bawling his eyes out. He was finally able to fall asleep, but in the morning he was so exhausted that he skipped breakfast, and his morning classes. He eventually went up to the Great Hall for lunch, but when he entered charms class - his first class of the afternoon - he saw Leander sitting in the corner speaking to professor Ronan. Leander looked over and winked, and when Daniel didn’t respond with any reaction, Leander made pouty lips.
Leander caught up with Daniel after charms, on his way to Magic Theory.
“Why are you hiding from me love?” Leander asked in a sweet voice. “I’m not allowed to speak with you anymore. Alex said that if he sees us interact, he would stop being my friend. He’s the only friend I’ve got. I can’t lose him.” Daniel said, staring at the floor while still walking, never missing a step, never looking up. “Love, he doesn’t control your life. You like me, and I like you back. Don’t let Alex rule over your relationship with me.” Leander said, so soothingly, whilst being very persuasive. “If Alex doesn’t approve of us, so be it, but Godric’s heart, I really like you, so it’s ok to like me back.”
Suddenly, Daniel felt a rush of confidence. He grasped Leander’s arm and ran up the astronomy tower stairs to the Room of Requirement.
~Leander~
Leander saw a pair of doors appear on the seemingly empty wall. Daniel dragged Leander into the room. What started as a mess of rubbish and old school supplies, turned into a nice moonlit room, with a large sofa in the centre.
“What is this place?” Leander asked in wonder. “The Room of Requirement. A place that is only visible to those who need it. I think right now, we might need it.” Daniel said.
Daniel led Leander to the sofa, and together the two boys sat on it. “I want to try something.” Daniel said. He leaned over his side of the sofa, and planted a soft kiss on Leanders cheek. He then sat back into a more upright position, and waited for Leander to respond. When Leander just sat there looking shocked, with his mouth agape, Daniel took this as a chance to dig a little deeper. He scooted closer to Leander, so much so that their shoulders were almost touching.
Daniel leaned over to Leander again, and this time, placed a strong kiss onto Leander’s lips, and they two stayed there for a little while. Finally Leander broke free and took a deep breath. Then he jumped onto Daniel’s lap, and started kissing him back. Leander started to get aggressive, biting at Daniel’s bottom lip. Daniel let out a soft moan, and Leander pulled back slightly.
“No…” Daniel mumbled. “You like that, don’t you love.” Leander said lovingly. Leander then leaned back and his back fell against the couch cushion. He pulled Daniel’s body closer and started to kiss his face all over, eventually ending at his neck. Leander started to suck and bite Daniel’s soft skin. “Blo - ody… M-M-Merlin, y-you’re g-g-good… at… this-s.” Daniel said, his words slurred.” “I’m glad.” Leander said seductively.
Leander started moving hands further down Daniel’s back, and felt Daniel pulling at his hair. Leander was glad his love enjoyed their little charade. Leander eventually made his hands get down to Daniel’s lower back. He worked his mouth back up to Daniel’s lips, but the boys weren’t quite finished. Daniel grasped Leander’s arm with his, and started moving it up and under his top. Leander was shocked that Daniel was doing this, but he sure as hell was not opposed. He reached both of his hands up Daniel’s top, and Daniel lifted his body up so that Leander could pull the shirt over his head.
After the shirt was removed, Leander used his thumbs to play with Daniel’s chest. The younger boy bit back a moan of approval, and Leander started to push Daniel onto his back, so Leander could rest on his boy’s chest. He closed his eyes and plastered a little kiss on Daniel’s chest. Leander rested his head on Daniel. His breathing started to get lighter, and eventually Daniel closed his own eyes and let out a light snore.
“I really like you.” Leander whispered, before passing out.

~Alex~
Alex felt bad for Daniel. Why did he yell at his best friend like that? Daniel was already going through a lot, he didn’t need his best and only friend mad at him. Alex thought he ought to apologise to Daniel, but when he went to Professor Fig’s classroom - the Magic Theory professor - he didn’t see Daniel. He asked Natty if she had seen him, but she said no. He asked random students in the corridors, but no one knew anything about Daniel’s whereabouts.
Suddenly Sebastian spoke behind Alex. “I think I saw him going up towards the Astronomy Tower with a certain red haired cutie.” Sebastian said plainly. “That bitch!” Alex said. He turned around to face Sebastian. “I know that I shouldn’t have yelled at him like that, but I still told him to stay away from Leander!” “Well little brother,” Ominis started from behind Alex. He turned around. “Stop doing that! I don’t need people scaring me from behind.” “What I was going to say was, Daniel wasn’t lying about what happened yesterday before supper. Leander did kiss him first. But about an hour ago, I saw Daniel take Leander’s arm, so I think that this time, Daniel is to blame.”
“I think I know where they are.” Alex mumbled. “I’ll be back, right after I kill them.” “Don’t use the dark arts!” Ominis shouted after him as he ran off to find Daniel and Leander.
Alex slowed down as he passed the talking gargoyle. “Where are you off to little trouble maker?” The gargoyle said. “No where.” Alex growled. “Only going to find and kill my best friend. Stupid bastard.” “Just don’t get caught!” The gargoyle said in a sing-song voice. “Thanks.” Alex said, and walked off up the stairs.
He walked up to the tapestry of the dancing trolls, and turned around. He walked three paces to the left, three paces to the right, and three paces to the left again. A set of double doors appeared in front of him as he thought, Daniel Gaunt and Leander Prewett . He walked in and saw a pair of boys laying on top of a large sofa, and one of them had his shirt off.
He immediately recognised Daniel to be the shirtless boy, and Leander was the clothed boy laying on top of Daniel, with his head resting against his chest. “Daniel Scorpius Gaunt and Leander Ingatius Prewett! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?” Daniel fluttered his eyes open, and when he saw Alex with a face that could only be described as pure rage and resentment, he jumped up and opened his mouth to speak, but no sound came out.
~Leander~
Leander felt his body being shoved off of Daniel, and he opened his eyes to Daniel being in a state of shock, and a red faced Alex. “Er- Danny, how did he find us?” Leander whispered. “Sebastian said he saw you two coming up here around an hour ago! An hour!” Alex yelled.
“Nothing happened between us!” Daniel yelled. “Sure. So your shirt fell off itself. And what is that mark on your neck? Is that a hickey!?!” Alex said, shouting more than questioning. “I’m sorry Alex! I don’t even know what happened! It’s like a spell was put on me…” Daniel got quieter, and looked at Leander. “Did you put Felix Felicis in my pumpkin juice at lunch, Leander? Or did you cast a luck spell on me during charms?” Daniel asked, very suspicious of Leander. “Of course not love.” Leander laughed nervously. “But Daniel is right, nothing happened. We just kissed, and I might have kissed his neck.” Leander said ‘might’ in a squeaky voice. “Might? You totally did! I do not care whether you fucked each other. I just care that you didn’t listen to my wishes. I asked you…” Alex said, pointing his fore finger at Daniel. “...to stay away from you .” Alex pointed at Leander. “And I told you…” Alex said, still pointing at Leander. “...not to touch him!” he finished.
“I love you both, but this is far too much. I came to apologise to you Daniel, but clearly that was a mistake. Say goodbye to our friendship.” With that, Alex walked out of the room.
Leander moved to the opposite side of the sofa while Daniel dug his shirt from the cushions, and put it back on. “Well this will need some ironing.” Daniel said, not looking at Leander. “I’m sorry. I just really wanted you tonight. You looked so cute, all sad, with your glistening eyes, and freckles, and…” Daniel cut Leander off by raising a fore finger. “Don’t try to butter me up. You made me do something that normally I would not want to do, and you also broke up Alex and my friendship. I can’t just forgive you for that.” “I-I understand.” Leander said sadly. I’ll go now.” Leander left, leaving Daniel sitting on the sofa himself.
~Daniel~
Daniel sat on the couch with his shirt still wrinkled. He removed it and summoned an iron and an ironing board, laid the shirt on top of it, and started straightening out the shirt. After he finished ironing it. He let it sit for a few minutes before putting it back on himself.
While he waited, he sat back down on the sofa’s soft, Leander smelling cushions. He leaned his head down against the cushions, and took a deep breath. He smelled Leander’s scent, still fresh from the previous hour. He curled up in the far corner of the sofa, face still against the cushion, and started crying. His surroundings changed, with the moonlit room turning dark, and suddenly, across the room, he saw a faint glow. He wasn’t sure what it was, but he wiped his eyes and walked towards it. A see through glass wall had appeared, and he saw a visual of Alex and Leander.
He put his hand to the glass, and almost like a pensive, he was pulled through, and heard the two boys talking. He called out to them, but it appeared that they could neither hear nor see him.
“I told you to stay away from him!” Alex said, tears streaming down his face. “I liked him first! Plus, his older brother Ominis hates you. I should have him. Not you.” Alex said. “Well, it looks like I just got to him first, and he likes me back. I can’t say the same for you dear cousin. He’s. Mine.” A smiling Leander responded. “I hate you!” Alex shouted, running out of the image.
After Daniel heard Alex say that he liked him, Daniel gasped, and instantly felt horrible for making out with Leander. He tried to get back to the Room of Requirement, but he couldn’t find an exit.
He saw Leander sit down on a bed that had just magically appeared, and realised that they must have been in their dorms. Leander held his head in his hands and started crying.
~Leander~
Hot angry tears streamed down Leander’s face. He and Alex had just fought over some guy. Well, not just some guy. A hot, kind, Hufflepuff, who just so happened to speak parseltongue. Merlin, that slithering voice. He loved it so much, but he knew that Alex did like Daniel first, and Leander had just kind of snatched him away from Alex.
He got up from the bed, wiped his eyes, and walked out of the dorm to find Daniel. He assumed that Daniel was still in the Room of Requirement, but he didn’t want to go inside and risk getting caught by Alex, so he just waited outside of the room for Daniel, but when Daniel didn’t come out for half an hour, Leander got worried. He entered through the magical door, and saw nothing and no one, so he had just assumed that Daniel had left before he came back up, or he had somehow snuck out without being caught by Leander.
Leander left after not seeing anything or anyone, and on his way down to the Great Hall, he ran into Ominis.
“Well, well, well. What do we have here? You brother fucker. Where is he!” “I don’t know Ominis. I haven't seen him since this afternoon.” Leander said, in a small voice. “He’s not in the Room, so I don’t know where he is.” “Are you sure?” Sebastian said from behind. “Yes, I’m sure. Now please leave me alone.” “Alright, well we’ll see you in Potions tomorrow morning. Or sooner.” Ominis said, frustrated.
The two Slytherins waltzed away, and Leander continued his walk towards the Great Hall.
~Sebastian~
Ominis and Sebastian walked up towards the Room of Requirement, and when they entered, Ominis cast revelio . “There.” Sebastian pointed towards the glasslike waterfall. “I can’t see where ‘there’ is Sebastian! I’m blind you insensitive bastard.” Ominis shouted. “I’m sorry. Take my hand, and I’ll show you the way.” Sebastian said kindly. “Fine darling.” Ominis said.
Sebastian led Ominis to the glass wall, and Sebastian saw Daniel trying to escape.
“Accio!” Sebastian casted, trying to pull Daniel from the grasp of the hidden room. “Sebastian!” Daniel called. “It’s not working!” “Well obviously dipshit!” Sebastian said. “Ominis, help me?” “Of course darling. Daniel, hold on.” Ominis said, rolling his pale eyes. “Accio!”
Together the two slowly pulled Daniel from the wall, and when they finally got him through, Sebastian could fully see his face, and saw the look of horror and disbelief on his face.
“What’s wrong Dan?” Sebastian asked. “I-I have to go!” Daniel yelled, and rushed out of the room. “Your brother is so weird, Omi.” Sebastian said. “Tell me about it.” Ominis said, closing his pearly eyes and crossing his arms. The boys followed after Daniel, and went their separate ways, with Sebastian going to the Library to annoy Madam Scribner most likely, and Ominis going off to tutor some second years.
