Chapter Text

*BANG*

"-KUDO!!"

So it was official. Life hated Kudo Shinichi.

So much that he got shot in the eye at one of the safest crime scenes he could ever be at.

"-SHINICHI-KUN!!”

"MEDIC!! OVER HERE!!"

Maybe this was the ending he deserved, especially after going against his own fate by living a life returning from Conan.

Yeah. Perhaps it was.

The ending for his cursed life.

"Kudo- Please, listen to me- Stay awake, you idiot...!"

It was Heiji, his usual strong tone replaced with fear and drenched in deep sorrow. His warm, shaking arms desperately held onto Shinichi's body that was turning cold, too fast for anyone's liking.

Shinichi weakly smirked back as he felt warm drops of his fellow detective's tears falling onto his face that was probably drenched in blood. He couldn't see out of his right eye and noticed that the blooming pain that he was supposed to have been feeling was more distant, as if he was under some sort of numbing gas. It didn't mean that he was completely fine, since half of his vision was blown out from his head in a matter of seconds.

He wanted to speak. Say something to his best friend who never left his side, all throughout his adventures as Edogawa Conan, as a rival and as a rival detective that he respected.

But nothing came out except for a light choke. His head spun, his world spun as all he could do was pull what he hoped was a weak smile at the man to assure that his last moments wouldn't be one of terror to anyone later on. The Osakan detective weakly grinned back as he read Shinichi's intentions in his now single eye, but his tears betrayed him as they continued to mercilessly fall.

"Kudo.... Ya' gonna be fine... Just keep ya' eye open, focus on me." He weakly whispered as he tightened his grasp on Shinichi's hand, so hard that Shinichi could feel it through the numbness off his entire body. "Ya’ idiot, you can’t die here… Not after everything...!"

Shinichi knew that Heiji meant every word. But he also knew the truth, that he was going to die in his friend’s arms.

The bullet had hit his head, and was sapping away at his life as the entire scene became a storm of chaos that he couldn't fully describe in his state.

"… 'm sorry..."

He mumbled before the medics at the scene rushed by and took over, performing the best treatment they could with what they had. He saw Heiji being dragged away from him, ripping the grasp he had on Shinichi as medics took over his lone sight. Lights blinded his eye, the red and blue flashes from the cars at the crime scene blinding him as the medics lifted his body on the transferring bed and to the ambulance.

Some came onto the vehicle with him, hands tightly grasping his own limp ones.

Then his vision slightly blurred as the red and blue lights disappeared to the plain, white light of an ambulance. His eye lost focus and his body felt numb as he lost more and more blood by the second.

Shinichi knew that he would die soon as his hearing began to zone out as well. The world was now spinning into a disgusting hue of green and brown, slowing fading to black as his ears picked up what was pure chaos in the ambulance.

"-His blood type-"

"-Nothing matches-"

"-Someone with same fac-"

"-That's impossibl-"

"-It's the only—!!"

"-Then send— to every police and hospi-"

"—HURRY!!"

Despite how chaotic the ambulance was, everything to Shinichi became number, and began to fall into a moment of peaceful silence.

Shinichi relaxed to close his lone, heavy eye.

He was tired.

….

(Like he said,

The perfect ending, for a cursed life like his.)
