Work Text:

Tim sips on his beer and watches Lucy talk to Aaron and Celina. She’s smiling and she looks happy which is all he could ever want for her. She looks beautiful tonight and they were almost late. Even though they had to arrive separately and there was a bit of a mishap, and a fight. He still got to whisper it in her ear as they parted ways.

He didn’t miss the sly smile on her face as she looked back at him, at least he was going to take her home tonight.

“Are you going to ask her to dance?” Angela asks from next to him. He turns to look at her with raised eyebrows.

“Who?”

“Lucy.” Angela replies. Tim looks over at his girlfriend who is still standing by Aaron. He has to keep the grin off her face, because he already told her they were going to dance. And after that he would drag her off to some quiet place and kiss her like his life depended on it. And then he would take her home, and get her out of that dress like he had been wanting to do all night.

He loved to strip her down, take it slow and love on her. They had waited a few weeks before they slept together and god it was worth it.

He already feels a little turned on just at the thought of it, and this woman would be the death of him but he was going to die very happy.

Not that Angela needed to know all that, she didn’t even know Tim and Lucy were dating.

“Why would I ask Lucy to dance with me?” He finally replies looking over at his friend. Angela’s eyebrows go even higher.

“I don’t know. Maybe to keep other men off of her.” Angela says. Tim whips around to see a taller man approaching Lucy, he’s talking to her but she just shakes her head. The man keeps talking and Tim is about to go over and yank him away. But he stays where he is and watches, he feels like he’s about to burst from the seams. Lucy was his, they were dating. They were together. Not that anyone knew that.

“You good?” Angela asks.

Tim nods stiffly. “Fine.” He watches as Lucy shakes her head again and tries to walk away but the man grabs her arm pulling her back. Tim slides off the stool ignoring Angela behind him. He steps next to the man who barely gives him a glance.

“One dance.” He says. “Just one.”

“No.” Says Lucy drily and then her eyes are on Tim and her face softens. “I’m saving a dance for someone else.”

Tim tries not to look too smug at that statement. “You good?” He asks Lucy. She nods her eyes still on his face.

“Hey buddy.” The man says turning to look at Tim. “We are talking here.” He steps in front of Tim, blocking his view of Lucy. Tim actually growls and shoves the man aside. Lucy’s eyes are wide but she doesn’t t pull back when he grabs her waist, in fact she moves closer. He’s vaguely aware of the man walking away but he only has eyes for her.

“Little rough there.” Lucy whispers but she’s laughing a little. She cups the side where the cut is and runs her thumb gently across it.

“Are you okay?” She asks. She has worry in her eyes and he wants to kiss it away, but he can’t right now.

“Yeah.”

Hmm.” She hums like she doesn’t quite believe him. She opens her mouth to say something else but someone cuts her off.

It’s Angela and she’s leading another man towards them. “Hey Lucy. This is Gary.” Angela says. Lucy smiles politely at the man in front of her as Tim pulls her closer to his side. Gary, holds out his hand and Lucy shakes it quickly and then pulls back.

“Gary here wanted to know if you would like to dance.” Angela says. She’s speaking to Lucy but her eyes are on Tim and his fingers on her waist. They are gripping it tightly and he has no plan of letting her go to Gary.

The thought of another man’s hands on her makes him shiver. He’s not usually the possessive type but with Lucy.. it’s different.

“Um.” Says Lucy. “I’m good. Sorry Gary.” Angela raises her eyebrows at her, and then looks at Tim.

“I thought you liked to dance. You—”

“My heels are killing me.” Lucy says quickly interrupting Angela.

She wiggles out of Tim’s grip much to his chagrin and walks away. He longs to follow after her and he’s about to when Angela stops him by putting her whole arm out.

“What are you—”

“So you won’t let Lucy dance with another guy and Lucy doesn’t want to dance with another guy.. give it up Bradford.” She says. “You and Lucy are dating.”

Tim’s mouth falls open and he closes it quickly. “I don’t know what you are talking about.” He says. “Lucy can dance with anyone she wants.” He tries to sound confident and unbothered but he knows Angela sees right through him.

Mmmhmm.” Says Angela. “Then you won’t mind Gary dancing with her.” Tim glances over and sees Gary approaching Lucy. She’s at the drink table and she gives Gary an uncomfortable smile.

“Not at all.” He grits out. Lucy looks around Gary, not doubt looking for him. He swallows and glares at Angela.

“Why can’t you mind your damn business.” He growls. It’s not like they were going to keep it a secret forever.

Angela smirks at him. “Why didn’t you tell me you were dating Lucy.” She snaps back. Tim blows out a breath and looks up at the ceiling.

“How long have you known?” He asks her. She smirks at him again and then suddenly Lucy is back by his side, he reaches out and pulls her to him. She melts into his side immediately.

Angela rolls her eyes, I have had my suspicions for awhile but tonight really confirmed it.” She says smugly.

Lucy rolls her eyes and pushes at Tim, “That’s what you get for being jealous.” She says but she’s smiling and because he can he leans down and kisses her.

“We weren’t planning on keeping it a secret forever.” Says Tim. “Just for a little bit.”

“You two are cute.” Says another voice. It’s Nyla and she’s smirking too. Angela turns to her and holds out her hand.

Nyla rolls her eyes but pulls out some money from her purse. Tim looks between them a little aghast his friends were betting on his relationship with Lucy.

“Now you can stop pretending you aren’t staring at her from across the station.” Nyla says. Lucy wraps her arm around Tim’s back.

“It will be nice to not have to hide it anymore.” She says. Tim pulls her closer.

It will be nice because now he can kiss Lucy, dance with her and pull her to a private corner so he can be alone with her. And he won’t be afraid of being caught by their friends.

“Thanks for betting on us.” He tells the two women. “You were right.”

“I mean you two are very obvious.” Angela says. “You do know that right?” Tim rolls his eyes but doesn’t answer, instead pulls Lucy along. She comes easily and he finds a corner away from everything.

“Were we that obvious?” Lucy asks. Tim shrugs, maybe that didn’t hide it as well as they thought.

“I don’t know. It doesn’t matter now.” He leans down to kiss her and pulls her up on her toes. It’s the first real kiss they have shared all day and it feels so good.

“So now will you be my date to this wedding?”

“It’s almost over.” She says. “But yes. Of course.” He grins at her, and gives her a small kiss.

“Good.”

She stands to kiss him again. And just as her lips touch his they hear a voice grumbling from behind them.

“Damnit I owe Angela money now.” They turn around to look to see Aaron shaking his head. Lucy grins at the look on Tim’s face.

“Let’s give them something to talk about.” She says and pulls him to the dance floor. He follows her because quite honestly he would follow her anywhere.
