Work Text:
“My least favorite color is red,” Chenle mutters to himself as he sits in the lap of his boyfriend. They’ve been dating for two months now, still in the prime age of their relationship of getting to know each other.
Jisung, who maneuvers his head to the side, caves in near Chenle’s neck. “Why is that?”
Chenle shrugs his shoulders, fiddling with the loose string that comes from the fabric of his shirt. “I feel like I don’t look good in red. It’s a color I don’t necessarily look for it in my life. I don’t mind it. But, I don’t find it appealing to me.”
“That’s okay,” The younger one reassures. There is nothing despicable about having preferences in the rainbow, if the hue is not his type then it’s not his type. He does not have to explain the details as to why it is on the bottom of his tier list. “I think you’d look great in every color, just saying.”
Chenle squints a little, a smile appearing through his eyes and slowly on his lips. “You’re just saying that.”
Jisung shakes his head, “Never, I truly believe it.”
—
Ever since, Jisung has been considerate of Chenle’s distaste in the color red. However, swinging through the city in a suit that was primarily made of a crimson red was something he was not going to tell Chenle. Being Spider-man meant his boyfriend hated seventy five percent of his battle gear. Well, he didn’t know that. Jisung was sure Chenle could put aside his preferences for once.
“Seems like a quiet night…” Jisung tells himself as he sits on the ledge of a building. His legs dangle, kicking back and forth as his heels hit the brick wall. With the night occupying their sky, he feels comfortable leaving his mask off to breathe for a little. His platinum silver hair is pulled by the wind, poking his eyes from time to time and becoming messy.
It was recently dyed as Chenle recommended the color. Any words from Chenle were always taken into consideration.
There’s never a moment where he doesn’t think about Chenle, especially when he’s on his shift out being Spider-man. In hindsight, Spider-man doesn’t have a set job in handling the city’s crime — that’s what law enforcement is for. However, there has been a string of robberies that have been occuring and Jisung has made it a personal mission to catch the suspects.
A subtle buzz comes from his pocket, he assumes it’s Chenle who has funny Twitter posts to share and or a check-in on what Jisung is up to. Obviously, he has not told his boyfriend about his identity. He’s sure two months into their relationship is not enough time to drop the bomb onto him. As he pulls his device out, there’s a string of messages that come from his lover. One side of his lips curl to the side, he will always confess how giddy Chenle makes him as there is no reason to shy away with his love.
Of course, criminals always have the best timing. As Jisung is about to respond, the ringing of a bank nearby sets off and that’s Jisung’s signal to grab his mask. He shoves his phone back into his pocket, slips on the rest of his suit and heads over. Ahead of him, he sees two men holding duffle bags that seemingly hold the cash that they had just stolen. Using his webs, he shoots one of them, knocking them down. The bag of cash slides to the side of them, however their accomplice continues to run.
Jisung ends up on the ground and ensures that the first guy is secured before heading off. With the sticky situation he found himself in, there wasn’t any chance that he’d be able to set himself free. Therefore, Jisung continues to run and catch the other individual involved in the crime. As he chases him on foot, Jisung is not merciful with his speed and is quick to catch up with him.
He can hear the terror in his voice, the panic as the criminal realizes that he is becoming slower. “Sir! Stop, just drop the money!” Jisung is not the best at talking people out of crime – nor does he realize there’s no point as they already committed it. “Sir, please– what the hell!”
Busy with his verbal tactics, a knife had been thrown in his direction which had sliced the side of his abdomen. Lucky shot, he presumed, knowing that it was easily dodgeable. “Dude! That was not nice! I gave you a chance!”
Using his webs, he shoots the man down. Which was what he should have done in the first place. As it forces the individual onto his back, the money falls from his grip and the webs sprawl over his body. Jisung catches up, bending down to check on the man with the ski mask. “Knives are dangerous to play with.” Getting close to the caught criminal.
Although Jisung was able to trap him on the ground, a hand swung in his direction and another blade swipes across him. This time, it digs deeper and slices the side of his face. He cups the cut immediately and shoots his hand down. He should seriously start assuming his victims aren’t pinned down.
“You know what, fuck you!”
—
After the fiasco, Jisung does not bring himself home. Sitting outside the small balcony of a particular room, he knocks on Chenle’s window. He peeks like a child, only the area of his eyes and top of head show, which is immediately noticed by Chenle who excitedly opens the glass panel.
“Jisung, I didn’t know you’d— Jisung ?” Chenle’s words are captured by the sight of his distressed lover. He drops his body onto Chenle’s floor, making a loud thud. “Jisung, you’re hurt.” As he cups his boyfriend’s face, smears of blood get on his palms and Jisung chuckles a little.
“Sorry,” Jisung softly apologizes, “I know you hate the color red.”
Chenle panics, examining the crimson that belongs to Jisung. He wipes it on to the fabric of his pajamas, cupping him again out of concern and the blood makes its way back onto his palm “Jisung… What happened?” His eyes trail down to his body, realizing a certain bodysuit is latched onto his skin. “Why are you wearing this?”
Jisung chuckles slowly and a wide smile appears on his face. “Surprise…” He says.
“Spider-man.” Chenle whispers to himself softly, his eyes trail to the cut on Jisung’s side and his hand immediately goes to cover the bleeding wound. For a second, he collects himself. “I’ll be right back.” Shortly, he darts to the bathroom to wash his hands before returning with a first aid kit and a warm wet cloth. “Let’s bandage you up, then we’ll talk.”
“Or, we can do both.” Jisung offers.
Chenle tilts his head to the side, lips pursing into a line. He is focused on bandaging up Jisung, not wanting the wounds he has to become infected. Gently guiding Jisung’s face around, he presses the wet cloth onto his damaged skin and dabs away the blood. The cut is harsh, however Jisung does not seem to mind so it makes Chenle wonder how many times he has gone through this reality. In the middle of processing that his new lover is Spider-man, he decides to fill the silence as his curiosity takes over. “Did you plan on revealing this side of you tonight?”
Jisung sighs, using a hand to brush it through his hair. The strands fall in front of his eyes, “No.”
Chenle’s right cheek twitches. “How long did you want to keep it a secret?”
“Until it was safe for our relationship.” Was the logical answer he had for keeping his second life away from his boyfriend. The silly truth came with, “I also know you hate the color red.”
“Jisung, that answer was not that deep.”
“Yeah, but…” He shifts in his position after he feels Chenle place ointment onto his face. It stings for a moment, but Chenle distracts him with a sudden peck on the lips. “I don’t want you to see my red. Seeing me all busted and cut up, I don’t want you to worry about me. But, I didn’t know where to go and I wanted to be with you.”
“Baby,” The pet name makes Jisung shiver, “don’t take my words too seriously. Come see me from now on if you want to get patched up.” Chenle places a large bandage on Jisung’s face, sliding the adhesive softly across his skin.
“Blood isn’t appealing. It’s also red.”
Chenle sighs, it’s heavy and it’s evident that the older is tired of hearing Jisung try to refuse the service. “Blood is red, but that won’t keep me away from helping you.”
“You’re still not freaked out that I’m a literal superhero. I’m somewhat freaked out because you’re not freaked out.” Jisung points out, his hand is cupping the side of his body. Which is where the other cut is located. Chenle purses his lips once again from the words. “You didn’t know, right ?”
“I didn’t.” He truthfully admits. Chenle pushes away his hand that hides his other cut. “How do you take this off?” As he motions to the whole suit.
Jisung smirks, “Wow, trying to take my clothes off already?”
Chenle playfully hits his shoulder, making the younger laugh. Jisung points to the back of the suit where there is a tiny zipper. He helps the boy up, making him sit criss-cross in front of him. Chenle begins unzipping the spandex that reveals his skin. Due to their relationship being so fresh, he has not seen much of Jisung’s body. However, as this is the first time being intimate up close with fabric being removed, he tries his best to make it special even with these circumstances. His pointer finger starts behind his neck, trailing down the indent of his spine. There are several scars which he assumes are from previous fights.
“You must’ve been alone taking care of yourself.” Chenle kisses the back of his neck, a small whimper escapes from Jisung which makes his head fall down from embarrassment.
“You’re so gentle…” Jisung covers his face with both of his palms, “I should’ve gone to you sooner.”
“I bet you don’t even attend to your wounds properly.”
Jisung laughs, “I don’t.”
Chenle taps Jisung’s right shoulder, making the younger of the two turn his head. Chenle snakes his arm around for his hand to cup the opposite side of Jisung’s face. He pulls him closer to him, becoming unstable. His back hits Chenle’s chest and suddenly they’re kissing. Chenle holds him in a position where Jisung is unable to escape, he hears a slight whine come from his boyfriend but he does not budge. Their tongues clash, a warmth is passed between them and Jisung’s neediness rises as he was caught off guard by this version of Chenle.
When Chenle finally pulls aways, his hand falls from Jisung’s face. “I’ll take care of you from now on. Please show all of your red to me when you need me, Jisung.”
“God,” Jisung whispers. He turns around to squish Chenle’s face with both hands. “ How can I ever say no to you ?” Pushing Chenle down slowly onto the floor, another set of kisses are gifted between the lovers.
Jisung’s platinum hair contrasts with the small splatters of red that stain his face. “So, wanna talk about this Spider-man dealio?” Tilting his head to the side, he watches as his boyfriend ogles the suit that covers half of his body.
Chenle’s eyes stayed on his chest for a bit, “Sure…starting off, I didn’t know you were so toned…”
“Spider-man has to be built to save the city, you know?”
“Makes sense,” As Chenle’s hand begins to trail up his forearm, “mind showing me around?”
“The city, or me?”
“Why not both?” He offers.
