If you told either Julia or MK that they would become friends after their time of Total Drama they would've laughed in your face for sure, by the end of the first season they really hated each other and for good reasons. For MK it was because Julia orchestrated her elimination (even though MK hated being in that island) and for Julia it was because MK destroyed her social media reputation by uploading that video of her screaming a dinosaur (Although she would gain a new and much bigger fanbase of followers thanks to it). But after both of them put some thought into it they realized they really respect each other, neither of them stopped for anything when it came to playing the game and winning the million, that's why in the second season when Bowie chose both of them to compete in the same team they quickly formed an alliance, and together they became nearly indestructible.
Both of the girls began to slowly spend more time together and by the end of the season they were already really good friends. Something about their personalities felt like it completed the other and now that about 6 months have passed they became really close friends, going out and even starting a podcast together, some of their fans even speculated that they were a couple to which both the girls just laughed off, never actually diminishing the rumors but never confirming it.
In the end they were both really good friends, so why was MK so nervous about meeting Julia in the kleptomaniac's house?
She had texted Julia before telling her 'Wanna come and play sum games?' to which Julia replied ‘k, going over’, ever since the season ended she have been slowly getting more into video games thanks to MK, even appearing in her Youtube channel once or twice by now. Sure they played online most of the time, but this was the first time Julia would actually come to her house, even more to her room! So MK was right now going back and forth to make her room look less like a mess.
Lucky for her, a few minutes after she finished cleaning Julia texted her 'I'm here, come open buttnuckle'.
MK left a small chuckle out, not noticing a light blush that formed as quickly as it faded before going to open the door.
'''Sup, Jules?'' MK greeted, leaning on the doorframe
''Hey girl friend!'' Julia said, going for a small fist bump before entering her friend's home
''So this is Mary Kate's house'' Julia said, teasing by saying MK's full name to which she looked away in embarrassment
''Yeah, my parents aren't home for the day, so why not spend my free time with you? at least this way we both can bore ourselves to death'' MK joked, composing herself again
''You have the house all for yourself and are inviting me to your room? If it wasn't you I would imagine that you'll have an ulterior motive going on'' Julia joked back
''Ha ha, real funny'' MK sarcastically said as they reached the girl room ''So, what you wanna play?'' MK asked
''I dunno, maybe some Minecraft?'' Julia said, even if she played with MK online from time to time, she still didn't knew that many names
''Alright then!'' MK said as she opened her room's door ''Welcome to my cave'' MK said mocking an epic tone in her voice.
MK's room was rather spacious, her room was green colored and it had a closet on the right corner of the room, a bed in the middle and a tv on the north of it, on the left side next to a window Julia noticed a desk with a few drawers that she was 100% sure it was were all the stuff MK stole was, and on top of it there was a computer which had at the side a few figurines of anime characters, Julia had seen those while video chatting with MK once
''I'm just gonna say, the room matches your looks and to be honest, you need a makeover'' Julia teased
''Nah, I'm no valley girl like you, I'm way too cool for that'' MK teased back ''besides, how else am I gonna cover the stuff I get'' she added, signaling her characteristic red jacket
''So, hop in, we goin' mining!'' MK enthusiastically said, to which Julia rolled her eyes in amusement
Julia liked hanging out with MK. There was something about being with her that relaxed the blonde; something about her attitude just felt like she didn't had any pressure to be perfect. Back in her school she was the most popular girl and, while everyone had seen her true nature now, she still had a reputation to maintain and that's why when she got home after the finale she thanked the heavens that it was still summer, she wouldn't let anyone at school see her with her hair like that (just to be sure she still skipped the first week of high school), but with the klepto all the pressure and the reputation was lifted, once shared enough confessionals with a girl you tend to grow pretty close to her.
And even after the finale MK tended to go to Julia's house to talk about anything, at first it was mostly trashing other past and present contestants but as the time went they just started talking about whatever they had in mind at the moment, even MK somehow started guiding Julia through enjoying video games and you know what? it was working. At first she wasn't that much into it but after giving it a chance she found herself liking some of the games MK sent her, even playing them on her free time every once in a while. After some time there was a moment where both Julia and MK were like they were best friends all their lives.
Julia really appreciated MK in those moments, she was in a very vulnerable state after the finale and her being there alleviated Julia from some of the shame she had at that moment, it was also in those moments where Julia started to notice that MK was actually really pretty, sure her wardrobe was hideous for the most part but she had nice features on her face, and her smile was pristine as well, sure she joked with MK regularly about changing her entire appearance but even then she was just plain beautiful for Julia. She didn't realized until more recently, but ever since they teamed up as an alliance back in Total Drama, Julia slowly started to develop a crush for the kleptomaniac, she never mentioned it to her though, she didn't wanted to make things weird between them and she probably wasn't even into girls in the first place.
After a few hours of playing various games MK had they were just gossiping about some of their rivals in the past season.
''Honestly I still don't know how Ripper and Axel are still together after all this time, Axel is way too much for him in my opinion'' Julia said
''Eh, beats me, she probably likes the real bottom of the barrel, and we both know there's nothing lower than Ripper'' MK snorted and Julia laughed as well ''Honestly I just wanted to gag everytime I saw those two lovebirds make out near me. That baking challenge was pure hell''
''I can imagine!'' Julia said ''I still can't believe they just smooched all the time, I mean I had a few clingy boyfriends in the past but they never went to that level'' she cringed a bit at the thought of her past relationships, she was a part of those because it helped her maintain a popularity level in her high school, but there never worked because in the end, there was no real love
''That's one thing I still don't get'' MK said without elaborating further ''You wanna play Mario Kart?'' MK suggested while taking out a Nintendo Switch from the drawer Julia had noticed before
''Wait, what don't you get?'' Julia asked ''Also, sure''
''Well, the idea of kissing, duh'' MK said, as if stating the obvious ''I mean, all you're doing is passing germs to each other’s mouths, I never actually saw the utility for that''
Julia's eyes went wide ''Wait, so you're telling me that you've never kissed anyone before?''
''I mean, why would I do that? I've never had a relationship before'' MK said ''I'm more of a 'lone wolf' kind of girl thank you very much'' she finishes
While MK is finishing setting up the console, Julia gets an idea ''You know, why don't we bet here?''
MK turns around with a confused face ''Okay? What’s the bet?''
''Best out of 5, if you lose I'm gonna be your first kiss'' Julia says, to MK's confusion
''And why would I do that exactly?'' MK asks
''Because duh, if people get to know you're a kissless nerd they will eat you alive, plus you would want to say that you kissed the hottest contestant in Total Drama?'' Julia says, as if that would be that much of a bonus for MK
''Pfft, I mean sure, whatever'' MK scoffed ''just get ready, 'cause I am a real pro at this game'' she said sitting besides Julia, her eyes showing her competitive side
The first race went smoothly for MK, she won that one with no effort whatsoever, but as she went through the second course the thought of Julia's bet appeared in MK's mind, sure she didn't actually cared if she had never kissed anyone yet, but the thought that Julia would be her first kiss wasn't something that she disliked either, she considered that Julia was pretty attractive and well, her personality really connected with her. Sure she was a brat to her during their first season of the show, but when you get into her good side she was actually a pretty cool person, even saying it at one point in a confessional during the latest season.
After the finale and when MK just started going to Julia's house, whether it was for the podcast or just for talking, she started to feel pretty close to the blonde girl, she always felt like Julia was a really good friend of her, the first one she ever had even, but did she want it to be only that?
She never realized it before but she had a crush on the girl, every time they texted each other she would feel her cheeks burning and her heart beat a hundred times faster, and even though MK didn't show up any of these signs while being in person with Julia, she always felt like the valley girl made her day a lot brighter whenever the two of them went out.
The train of thought was distracting her to the point that she barely won the second race and the next two ended up being for Julia ''Alright, the last race, not gonna lie I thought you were better at this MK'' Julia teased
''S-Shut up! I was just letting you win'' MK snarled back, she had never lost a Mario Kart race before and now she had lost two in a row ''can't have that much fun if I won everything'' MK composed herself a bit.
''Yeah, sure. Now come on, choose a track so I can finish you'' Julia teased again, with a huge smirk on her face.
MK picked Rainbow Road for the final track, a track that she pretty much had memorized by now, this would surely be too much for Julia and she would absolutely win for sure...
Although, something inside was telling her to lose on purpose.
She had came all the way here, now why did she wanted to lose this race all of a sudden? Was it because the thought of kissing Julia was too hard to pass?
At this point MK's mind was a mess, she wanted to win but at the same time she really wanted that kiss
now, so unconsciously she started making some mistakes here and there alongside the track, what was supposed to be a cakewalk for MK suddenly became a much more close race for her.
End of Lap 3. Julia came in first.
MK just couldn't believe it, she was speechless. She had never lost in this game before and now she lost 3 times in a row?
Julia on the other hand was celebrating, mostly to annoy MK ''Now for my prize...''
MK's cheeks went as red as a tomato, she didn't actually expected Julia to remember it, in fact she thought that she was just messing with her so she could go ahead and win, although MK on the inside was screaming in happiness.
Julia's grabbed the raven-haired girl's jaw and lifted it a few centimeters so she could be seeing her eye to eye, and before MK could process it Julia pressed her lips against hers.
If MK's eyes were wide open before, they were now as big as a plate, the kiss was short lived, only a few seconds at max. But for both of them it felt like an eternity, a strawberry flavored eternity for MK at least.
As soon as Julia pulled away and saw MK's face, who was still processing everything that went down, she felt her cheeks suddenly burning red as well, she got up the bed at lightspeed ''Ehm... C-Can I go to the bathroom?'' she said nervously
''Y-Yeah Sure!'' MK said after a second, snapping back to reality while Julia just bolted away...
In the bathroom Julia just sat in the toilet covering her face, on one hand she didn't expected herself to go and kiss MK like that, she had just made the bet to annoy her a little and throw her off, she was probably just way too caught in the moment that actually went ahead and dared for the kiss. On the other hand Julia was absolutely joyful, this was the first time she actually had feeling for the person receiving the kiss and it felt like the most amazing thing ever, she had a huge smile on her face, everything just happened so quickly that even she didn't had time to process it, she had just kissed MK!
She went to was her face so she could compose herself a little before going out of her bathroom, she wondered what MK must be feeling at this moment, hopefully she didn't hated her now.
On MK's side... well she was an entire mess, she just got kissed by Julia, and it was her first kiss on top of that! and you know what? she liked it, Julia's lips were so soft that they felt like clouds, she touched her lips and a dumb smile started appearing on her face ''Well isn't that something?'' she muttered to herself before plummeting into the bed, just experiencing the high it left her.
Once Julia went out of the bathroom MK sat straight up, the red on her cheeks that was already gone appearing once again in a lighter color, Julia just sat beside her completely in silence, avoiding eye contact.
After a few seconds MK broke the silence ''It was nice.''
''Hm, what you said?'' Julia said, as if she was just broken out of a hypnosis the side of the wall did to her
''The kiss, for a first one it was nice'' MK repeated
''T-Thanks.'' Julia said, some color appearing in her face. ''But you still would need practice if you wanna kiss someone''
''I-I wouldn’t mind it if it was with you!'' MK blurted without thinking, Julia's face went redder.
''Really?''
''Yeah, I mean you already kiss pretty nice so I think I could learn from a pro at it'' MK said a bit sheepishly
''Aww thaanks'' Julia said a bit less tense and on her usual demeanor
''Yeah, there are some things that you can beat me anyways, don't get used to it'' MK joked, now more calm ''what do you say, wanna keep playing Mario Kart?''
''Isn't that the game where I just beat your butt like three times already?'' Julia teased
''I know, I know, but now it's time you see the real MK going at it''
MK grabbed the controller and selected a new track
''So did you just let me win on purpose so I would kiss you?'' Julia asked jokingly
''...Maybe a little'' MK responded after a few seconds with a small smile
