Work Text:
This is a terrible idea, the voice in his head tells him, but it's far too quiet, outweighed by the enormous feeling of fear in his chest.
Magnifico flips through the book, green tendrils of magic reaching out towards him.
It feels... Good.
How has he not tapped into this power before all of this?
"Mi Rey?" A voice calls from the doorway of the room, and he looks up from the book, collecting the magic in his hand, snapping the book shut.
"Amaya," He starts watching her enter the room, "Get out," It's a command, low and surprising to come from his mouth.
She cannot succumb to the magic too.
It's his.
She must remain safe.
"Oh, Magnifico," She hums as she walks up to him, placing her hand on the cover of the book. She stands on the other side of the desk. "You thought you'd be able to begin without me?"
"I want to protect you," His hand remains closed as he holds it up above his head.
"Oh?" Amaya coos, lifting an eyebrow. "I care for Rosas as much as you do, and..." She slowly opens the book herself, between the two of them.
The green magic swirls around her hand as she holds it above the book. She takes a deep breath, before looking up at Magnifico through her eyelashes.
"Don't we have a Kingdom to protect?"
Magnifico lets himself grin.
