Work Text:
After the initial feelings of anger and fear and distress had worn off from suddenly being put on trial and sentenced to death, a cool acceptance washed over Simon's brain. This was his reality now, and there wasn't much that could be done about it.
He'd been moved down to the solitary part of the prison, a deep ravine of cells with very few people in them.
By happenstance, Viral was there, right across from him- A strange comfort in the silence. Sure, they'd had their qualms in the past, but who cared now? As far as the society above was concerned, they were both just as terrible as one another.
"I'm surprised they sent the big man himself down here" Viral commented once. Simon didn't respond to this. "I mean, things must be getting pretty bad up there for it to resort to this, huh? I bet Kamina would be so proud of-"
"Don't talk about my bro that way" Simon said. He didn't even sound angry, just tired.
To his credit, Viral left the topic alone after that.
