Work Text:
Julian leaned against the railing of the promenade. He was a ways from Garak’s Clothiers, and up a level. And with good reason, too. He couldn't risk Garak looking up and noticing him. No, that would be too obvious, and he was sure Garak would be disappointed in his lack of spy skills. Or perhaps not, because Garak was still coming to their weekly lunches. Julian couldn't quite fathom that. A spy, interested in him? Not that Garak would admit either of those things. And to be honest, Julian was beginning to suspect that there was more to the whole spy thing as well. He shook his head. He wasn't here to overanalyze his relationship with Garak. Right now, he was here simply to watch.
Garak finally poked his head out of his shop, an armful of fabric in his hands. He closed his doors behind him and made sure they were locked. Then he made his way towards the turbolift, and presumably towards his quarters after that.
Julian blushed. He was ridiculous. Stalking his current crush? That was childish behavior. But it had been nice to see Garak, even if from a distance. They didn't have lunch together for another two days. And while Julian could always visit Garak's shop, he didn't want to seem desperate. Not that he was desperate, of course. He was just…infatuated right now. That was all. Garak was new, and interesting. Not to mention exciting. Julian could still vividly remember how loudly his heart had beat when Garak had shoved him into that changing room, roping him into his spy escapades. It had been exciting , everything silly little fantasy that Julian had ever had. So of course Julian was infatuated. It was unlikely that this relationship would go any further than that for either of them.
Julian bit his lip. He hoped it went further. The more he got to know Garak, the more he couldn't stop thinking about him. But that was probably an impractical dream. Julian had long ago given up impractical dreams. He sighed. It was probably time to get back to work. He had patients to see to, after all. Julian stood up and headed back towards the infirmary. He cast one last glance towards Garak's Clothiers before disappearing inside.
