Work Text:

My legs begin to hurt from all this running, but I don’t stop.

The wind on my face is satisfying, but nothing compares to when I manage to win against him. So I won't give up. He’s my motivator, my reason to keep going.

But isn't this too much trouble for a single piece of candy?

I smile to myself upon the thought.

Each turn he makes, I force myself to slow down out of caution. The rain left puddles, and It’d be the worst thing to just slip and/or trip in front of him.

Finally, I managed to corner him. We both stand there, awkwardly. Waiting for the other to move.

He fiddles with the mentos in his hand, taunting me. He grins when I dramatically show my obvious fake distaste for his actions. He's such a brat sometimes.

I take a step closer as a bluff, he puts his guard back up and cautiously waits for my next step.

Just as I was about to take another step, he quickly slipped past me, and me being too small and weak to physically block him, couldn't stop him.

He runs away, a look of relief now that he has his freedom again. But he turns back to me, seeing if I’m still chasing, taunting the mint candy by waving it in the air once again.

I just stare. I don’t move, too tired to try and chase him again. “ I’m only taking a ‘ small break, ‘ ” I’ll tell him, if he asks.

He won't.

But he notices, stares back at me until he looks away.

He probably lost interest in me--in what we were doing.

The dark clouds seem to have made a comeback as they dim the surroundings once again.

Still staring at the same spot he used to be until he left, I sigh.

I honestly could care less about the candy anyway.
