Chapter Text

love 119

the sweetest love

“Baby, this question is wrong.” Jimin points at the page Minjeong is working on.

“What? I thought it was right.” Minjeong pouts, using her white-out to erase the answer she wrote.

“Do you need me to explain it again or do you want to try again?” Jimin asks, smiling softly.

“I’ll try again.” Minjeong sighs.

It’s not usual for first-year university student Yu Jimin to be around Kim Minjeong, who is in her last year of high school. They had been going out since Jimin graduated from the same high school Minjeong is going to right now, after the shorter girl bravely confessed to Jimin when she walked down the podium.

At first, Jimin was in a state of shock since she’d never thought Kim Minjeong, who was on the student council and a perfect-graded student, would confess to her. Jimin admits sometimes she makes bad decisions and doesn’t have the greatest track record, aside from her perfect grades. She had a history of being dubbed a playgirl, so people were either wary of her or wanted a piece of her.

Jimin wouldn’t lie and say Minjeong didn’t catch her attention, even though she was a year below her, but Minjeong was a pretty girl and sometimes pretty girls just charm Jimin completely.

“S-sunbae!” Minjeong had called out to Jimin, who walked out of the hall. Jimin turned around and found their beloved student council president standing right in front of her, hands twisting behind her back.

“Kim Minjeong.” Jimin smiles, bouncing on the balls of her feet cheekily. “Are you going to wish me good luck for my further studies?”

“Yes, but also..." Minjeong blushes before looking into Jimin’s eyes with a determined expression. “Sunbae, I like you.”

Jimin’s jaw had dropped and the smile on her face was wiped from her face. At first, she let Minjeong down as carefully as she could but what baffled her was that Minjeong was grinning so brightly after being rejected.

“I just didn’t want to regret not ever saying it.” Minjeong had said.

Minjeong was like a shot of espresso and for the first few days and weeks of studying at university, Jimin couldn’t stop thinking about Minjeong.

So one day, she finished a lecture and found herself walking to her old high school. At first, a huge number of students still remembered her and greeted her. She was overwhelmed by the number of underclassmen and tried to nod and smile all the way until she found a familiar face.

“Ningning!” Jimin calls out through the crowd.

“Oh, Jimin-unnie!” Ningning blinks.

Ningning and Jimin had gone to the same primary school previously and she was also a hoobae she doted on because Ningning was cute and Jimin taught her a lot of Korean when she was still struggling sometimes. Jimin even learned Chinese off of Ningning too.

“Hey, how’ve you been?” Jimin tries to play it cool at first.

“Great. Are you studying hard?” Ningning asks.

“Of course, you know me.” Jimin grins.

"But what are you doing here? Is Aeri-unnie with you?” Ningning blinks but finds the opportunity to ask about Jimin’s best friend, who also graduated from this school and whom she may or may not have a crush on.

“No, it’s just me; Aeri still has classes. Anyway, do you know where Minjeong is?” Jimin asks, scratching her nape.

“Why are you looking for my best friend?” Ningning crosses her arms over her chest.

“Just, uh, she took something from me and needs to give it back.” Jimin says. “So please, tell me where she is? Or else your parents are going to worry why you aren't home yet if you keep stalling.”

“She’s in the student council room." Ningning rolls her eyes. “You know the way, right? Or do I need to tell you?”
“No, I got it!” Jimin grins. “Thanks, Ning! Love you!”

Jimin presses a kiss on Ningning’s forehead before running away.

“Yah! Unnie!” Ningning grimaces but still smiles.

When Jimin’s making her way to the student council room, she halts for a moment behind the door. She hadn’t really come up with a plan prior to coming here. She doesn’t know what to say, as her mind doesn’t run with any coherent thoughts except for the image of Minjeong’s sweet smile.

It wasn’t a lie to Ningning that Minjeong took something from her and that she needs it back.

Minjeong has taken her mind for weeks on end and she’s been struggling to keep the image of Minjeong away from her thoughts.

Minjeong took her heart and now she wants her to take responsibility.

She slides open the student council room door.

“Jimin-sunbae?” Minjeong turns to her with surprise.

Shortly after that, they began talking more and spending more time together until Jimin was completely wrapped around Minjeong’s finger, and Jimin didn’t mind it at all. She finds herself in this situation quite a lot, laying on Minjeong’s bed and playing with Minjeong’s hair as she helps the girl with her school work.

“Unnie, if I finish this all now, can I get a reward?” Minjeong asks, smiling cheekily.

“What do you want?” Jimin chuckles fondly. “I’m unemployed at the moment, so don’t go asking me for something expensive.”

“I don’t need anything expensive,” Minjeong says, shaking her head.

“Because you already have me, right? I’m priceless.” Jimin grins and Minjeong rolls her eyes.

“Ha-ha, but seriously.” Minjeong pouts.

“Okay, what do you want?” Jimin asks again.

“A kiss.” Minjeong says.

“Just that?” Jimin frowns. “I can give you that normally.”

“Give me a good one, then. One that will last since I’ll get busy with my exams.” Minjeong says.

“Okay,” Jimin chuckles, patting Minjeong’s head.

Minjeong focuses hard on her work, desperately wanting a kiss for being good because she doesn’t get to see Jimin often with how busy she is with university and with how busy she’s getting with her upcoming exams that will qualify her to get into Jimin’s university, which is one of the top ones in their country.

“I’m done!” Minjeong squeals.

“Okay, let me check—”
“No, kiss now.” Minjeong pushes Jimin down onto her back.

“Woah, woah, why are we so impatient today?” Jimin chuckles, holding Minjeong close to her but sitting up.

“I miss you.” Minjeong pouts.

“I know.” Jimin smiles softly. “I miss you too.”

“Kiss, unnie.” Minjeong leans forward.

“Okay, okay.”

Jimin smiles, leaning forward, before pressing a long kiss on Minjeong’s forehead.

“Unnie,” Minjeong whines. “Not there.”
“Where then?” Jimin smiles and she pinches Minjeong’s cheek. “Here?”

“No,” Minjeong giggles, shaking her head.

“Then, here?” Jimin grins, poking Minjeong’s other cheek.

Minjeong shakes her head, bubbling with laughter.

“I think you want it here.” Jimin laughs, rubbing the tip of Minjeong’s nose gently.

“No,” Minjeong shakes her head and takes Jimin’s hand. She folds Jimin’s fingers down with both of her hands until she only has her pointer finger left. She brings it to her face and touches Jimin’s pointer finger to her lips. “Here.”

“Minjeong…” Jimin warns softly.

“Please.” Minjeong pouts, eyelids fluttering cutely and Jimin’s ears burn red.

One thing Jimin was sure of not doing was kissing Minjeong too soon. It’s only been a handful of months into their relationship and Jimin was very careful with Minjeong. Minjeong was someone she wanted to take very seriously because Minjeong is an amazing girl and also because she’s a year younger than her.

Jimin feels very protective of Minjeong and always wants the best for Minjeong.

Jimin didn’t have a pretty track record in high school, but it was because she was scared of turning people down in case they turned on her and said bad words. She didn’t think she was a flirt because she thought she was being friendly, but many people took it the wrong way and she was too afraid to speak, lest no one believe her.

So when sweet Minjeong approached her, Jimin didn’t know what to do.

Minjeong had approached her with no intentions at all except wanting to confess a crush. When she asked why Minjeong liked her, Minjeong was quite blunt. She had described Jimin for who she was deep down—a kind person who is gentle and carries the lamest jokes everywhere with her. She had said Jimin was a very smart person who was hardworking, and that was one of the things Minjeong liked about her.

From that day on, Jimin was smitten.

And for those reasons, she didn’t want to rush into what she had with Minjeong like other people had done to her.

“Unnie?” Minjeong’s pout was irresistible and Jimin was always falling fast and hard.

Jimin cups Minjeong’s cheek gently, leaning closer. Minjeong’s eyes flutter close and Jimin’s lips just barely brush against her lips when she hears the front door of her house open.

“Minjeongie! Your unnies are home!”

Minjeong’s eyes widen and she pushes Jimin away, who has the same horrified look on her face.

Oh, one more reason that maybe should've been stated first. The reason why Jimin was so reluctant to date Minjeong or even do anything with Minjeong was because she had these five older sisters that would kill for Minjeong—literally.

“Time to go now!” Jimin’s eyes widened, scrambling around Minjeong’s room. She puts on her jacket and looks for her bag.

“Here,” Minjeong quickly packs all of Jimin’s belongings and helps Jimin put on her bag. “Just go out the window!”
“Again?” Jimin whimpers. “Baby, I don’t want to break my bones.”
“You did it last time,” Minjeong whispers. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay,” Jimin sighs.

Minjeong opens the window and Jimin swings a leg out.

“I’d do anything for you,” Jimin smiles.

“I know.” Minjeong blushes.

“I’ll see you.” Jimin says this before leaning in to press a kiss on Minjeong’s cheek.

“Bye, unnie. Be careful.” Minjeong says and Jimin nods before climbing down the roof and rolling into a bush.

Jimin disappears just in time as her bedroom door opens and five heads appear in the doorway.

“Hey, how was school?” Joohyun asks.

“Good.” Minjeong closes the window and turns around with a smile.

Minjeong actually only has three biological sisters: Joohyun-unnie, who is the oldest; Sooyoung-unnie; and Yerim-unnie. Seungwan-unnie is Sooyoung-unnie’s girlfriend and Seulgi-unnie is Joohyun-unnie's fianceé.

“Sorry, we couldn't be home earlier,” Sooyoung says, wrapping her in a hug. “Yerimmie and I had a bunch of classes back-to-back.”

“It’s okay.” Minjeong smiles, hugging her back.

“Were you studying?” Seulgi asks, seeing the scatter of papers on Minjeong’s bed.

“Yeah, I was doing some homework.” Minjeong answers.

“Aw, what a good baby!” Yerim pinches her cheek. “Want an allowance?”

“You act like she’s so much younger than you,” Seulgi snorts. “You’re only two years older than her.”

“But she’s still in high school,” Yerim coos.

“It’s okay, unnie.” Minjeong grins at the affection.

Ever since their parents passed away in an accident when Minjeong was ten, her three older sisters have done everything to help raise her, even if Yerim was only two years older than her. Minjeong had always been small when she was growing up, which is why her sisters always took so much care of her. Joohyun was already a legal adult at the age of twenty when their parents passed, so she took custody of Minjeong and Yerim. Sooyoung was fifteen, helping Joohyun raise their little sisters and along the way, Joohyun met Seulgi at a bookstore and fell in love with the photographer.

Joohyun studied to become a doctor and eventually finished her studies, despite how busy her life was, and now she works at a hospital, where she met an intern, Son Seungwan. She befriended Seungwan and ended up introducing her to Sooyoung and those two have been together since then.

Now their lives are steady and Minjeong has grown taller than two of her sisters.

Everyone disperses to go wash up and later Minjeong trudges down to the kitchen to find Seungwan cooking up an easy pasta dinner for them all.

“How was work?” Minjeong asks, immediately helping Seungwan cook.

“It was alright, nothing too bad.” Seungwan smiles. “Joohyun-unnie assisted in a surgery, though, so she must be tired.”
“Really?” Minjeong blinks.

“Mhm.” Seungwan nods.

Seungwan had always been the balance in their family, sometimes more on the peaceful side, alongside Seulgi when Minjeong needed the peace. Minjeong was a quiet kid growing up and her sisters were not when they were all together in the same room. Joohyun was a quiet and reserved person by nature, in contrast to Sooyoung, who was a social butterfly alongside Yerim. Those two chatted a lot and put Joohyun into the mix—Minjeong thinks she’s developed tinnitus from living with her sisters. Seulgi wasn’t too loud, but she often got teased and she is very sweet, so Minjeong likes to hang out with her often.

“So, anything new in your life these days?” Seungwan asks as Minjeong sets out the table.

“Me?” Minjeong blinks. “No, not that I know of.”
“No… boys? Girls?” Seungwan teases and Minjeong blushes.

“N-no! No way!” She stutters, thinking of the girl who just climbed out of her window earlier.

"Aw, come on, you can tell me.” Seungwan says. “I’m not scary like the other four.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it,” Minjeong says, shaking her head. “My sisters, including Seulgi-unnie, would kill the person and then probably kill me.”

“But seriously, no one’s taken an interest in you?” Seungwan asks, putting the plates on the table.

Minjeong shrugs.

“You’re this beautiful and smart, but you’re telling me no one has come up to confess to you?” Seungwan asks.

“Unnie,” Minjeong whines and Seungwan giggles. “And even if there were, they’d probably be too intimidated or I’d just reject them.”

“Alright, but if there is, you’d tell me, right?” Seungwan asks. “I’m the nice unnie; I won’t tell them about it unless you tell me to.”
“I promise.” Minjeong nods, oddly feeling guilty.

“Wow, what smells good?” Sooyoung comes down first and hugs Seungwan, pressing a sloppy kiss to her cheek and Seungwan doesn’t mind it at all.

“Just some pasta.” Seungwan smiles.

Minjeong smiles at their affection and doesn’t feel grossed out about it all.

Yerim bounces down later and she’s already gossiping to the others about what she discovered in her university batch.

Minjeong feels warm and happy, but she still feels something hollow in her chest and it has something to do with Yu Jimin.

“You’re going to walk to school?” Jimin asks, one hand on her phone, as she enters her car, ready to go to campus.

Yeah, Joohyun-unnie and Seungwan-unnie left the house already because they have an early shift.” Minjeong says. “ And I don’t want to bother Seulgi-unnie; she’s sleeping really deeply. Sooyoung-unnie’s car is in the shop and Yerim-unnie doesn’t drive.”

“Baby, I can come pick you up if you want.” Jimin says.

“No, I don’t want to bother you either. You have classes.” Minjeong refuses. “I can take the bus.”

“No way, I've heard about too many perverts on the bus; I’ll take you to school.” Jimin decides. “Just wait for me, okay?”

Okay,” Minjeong says shyly. “Thank you, unnie.”

Jimin drives smoothly and it doesn’t take long to reach Minjeong’s house from her apartment, which she shares with Aeri.

Minjeong quickly stands up from the pavement where she was sitting and plays a game on her phone before hopping into Jimin’s car.

“Hi,” Minjeong beams, leaning forward to press a kiss on Jimin’s cheek.

“Good morning.” Jimin grins, putting the seat belt on Minjeong. “You’re beautiful.”

“Beautiful?” Minjeong frowns. “I always look like this.”

“I know. Always beautiful.” Jimin says it sweetly and Minjeong blushes. “Ready to go now?”
“Yep!”

Minjeong slips her hand into Jimin’s and holds their intertwined hands in her lap and Jimin watches her from her peripheral vision from time to time, wondering how she landed such a cute girlfriend.

The traffic isn’t too bad and soon they reach Minjeong’s school.

“Do you need me to pick you up?” Jimin asks.

“I’ll see if my sisters can. If they can't, I’ll call you.” Minjeong smiles.

“Okay, have a good day at school.” Jimin smiles.

“You too!”

Jimin’s late to her lecture but it’s alright; she’s late for a good cause. The good cause being taking her lovely girlfriend to school on time.

Jimin runs to class with her, holding her bag tightly.

She doesn’t watch where she’s going and runs right into someone, scattering their belongings everywhere.

“Oh god,” Jimin crouches and helps them pick up their stuff. “So sorry!”

"Where are you headed, Yu Jimin?" Sooyoung giggles at the little ball of mess the first-year student is.

“Sooyoung-sunbae!” Jimin nearly gasps.

She just rammed into someone and made all their stuff fall to the ground, and that someone is Sooyoung—none other than one of Minjeong’s sisters.

How bad will her day get?

“Relax,” Sooyoung chuckles.

“Really sorry, but I’m late." Jimin stands up and bows deeply. “I’ll make it up to you!”

Jimin runs off and Sooyoung laughs, finding her cute.

Jimin settles in class and she sneaks into the lecture when the professor isn’t looking and locates her best friend in the sea of people.

“You’re lucky he didn’t notice,” Aeri snorts. “Why are you late?”
“I drove Minjeong to school.” Jimin says and Aeri rolls her eyes.

“Whipped.” Aeri says it, and Jimin doesn’t refute it.
“I know.” Jimin shrugs happily.

Classes finish and Jimin fishes out her phone to call Minjeong, since it’s her ending time too.

Unnie!”

“Hey baby.” Jimin smiles when she hears Minjeong’s voice.

“Gross…” Aeri gags and Jimin shoves her.

“Do you still want me to pick you up?” Jimin asks.

“Oh, Ningning and I are going to hang out together today, so we’re going to take the bus together.” Minjeong answers.

“Are you two going out?” Jimin asks.

Nah, we’re just going to play games at my house. My sisters are all out, so it’s just us.” Minjeong says. "Unnie, you should come too!”
You two should be studying instead of playing games,” Jimin smirks.

But we need to take a break sometimes too!” Minjeong whines.

“Okay, okay. I’ll bring Aeri too.”

“Aeri-unnie is coming?!” Jimin hears Ningning’s voice.

“We’ll be at your house soon.” Jimin chuckles.

They arrive at Minjeong’s house and when the younger girl opens the door, she runs into Jimin’s arm immediately.

"Woah!" Jimin laughs, holding tight to Minjeong before walking into the house. “I guess you missed me?”

“I did.” Minjeong giggles, snuggling into Jimin.

“Aeri-unnie, come help me with this level!” Ningning drags Aeri upstairs.

“Uh, okay.” Aeri blinks.

Whipped…” Jimin whispers when Aeri walks past and the girl glares at her.

“Are you hungry, unnie?” Minjeong turns to Jimin.

“Just peckish.” Jimin smiles. “We should take snacks to feed those two idiots too.”

They gather an armful of snacks before heading upstairs to Minjeong’s room.

“We’ll play games after we study, okay?” Jimin says.

“Aw, unnie!” Ningning whines. “I don’t want to!”

“You have to or else you won’t go to a good university,” Aeri chuckles and that shuts Ningning up right away.

“Okay, unnie.” Ningning smiles sweetly and Minjeong rolls her eyes.

Minjeong gives up her bed for Ningning and Aeri as she sits at her desk with Jimin, having pulled an extra chair from Yerim’s room to use.

“Like this?” Minjeong asks, solving the question.

“Good, it's right!” Jimin nods, impressed. “Baby, at this rate, you won’t even need my help anymore.”
“I’ll always need your help." Minjeong grins, leaning on Jimin’s shoulder.

“I’ll always help you too.” Jimin grins, pressing a kiss on Minjeong’s temple.

“You guys are gross!” Ningning complains and Minjeong gives her a middle finger.

After finishing their homework, Jimin lies on the bed beside Minjeong as Aeri and Ningning sit on the floor with game controllers in their hands.

“Ah! I’m going to die!” Ningning whines.

“I’ll revive you; where are you?” Aeri squeals.

Minjeong rests her head on Jimn’s outstretched arm as they lay on their sides, looking at each other. Jimin smiles, blowing air on Minjeong’s eyelashes.

“It tickles,” Minjeong says softly, squinting.

“You have pretty long lashes, you know?” Jimin chuckles. She leans forward and presses two kisses on each of Minjeong’s eyelids.

“Is it bad I want you to kiss me like you should’ve last time?” Minjeong whispers.

“Our best friends are in the room,” Jimin chuckles.

“And we can hear you!” Aeri gags.

“Shut up!” Jimin kicks her and Aeri punches Jimin’s foot.

“Unnie, I died.” Ningning pouts.

“Oh, sorry, Ning.” Aeri smiles sheepishly.

Minjeong giggles before scooting closer to Jimin, tucking herself under Jimin’s chin. Jimin sighs softly, closing her eyes briefly as she wraps her arms around Minjeong.

Her eyes open when she hears a jingle of keys.

Minjeong sits up quickly and Ningning pauses the game.

“What was that?” Aeri blinks.

“Shit, I think someone’s home.” Minjeong gets up and Jimin follows.

“What? Who?” Jimin asks.

Minjeong peaks out of her window and sees Seulgi’s car.

“It’s Seulgi-unnie.” Minjeong panics when she looks at the time. “God, I didn’t even realise the time, which means the others might come home soon!”

“Okay, quick, pack up,” Jimin says.

Minjeong helps Jimin collect her belongings and her bag.

“How are we getting out?” Aeri asks.

“The window," Jimin says.

“The window?” Aeri’s eyes widened.

“I always go out with it.” Jimin shrugs. “You go first.”
“What if I fall?” Aeri complains.

“You won't; it’s not that far of a drop!” Jimin hushes Aeri.

Minjeong opens her window and Aeri climbs out first, climbing down and landing feet first but she tucks herself into a roll.

“Wow, that was kinda hot.” Ningning snorts and Minjeong rolls her eyes.

“Bye baby.” Jimin grins, kissing Minjeong’s cheek.

“I’ll see you soon.” Minjeong smiles. “Text me when you get home.”
“I will!” And then Jimin climbs out, but at the last moment, she slips and rolls into the bush again.

Minjeong closes the window.

“Damn it,” she groans. She gets up and dusts herself but suddenly, someone grabs her arm and her eyes widen.

“Who are you?!” A flashlight comes into her face and Jimin shields her eyes with her hand.

“Minjeong! Ningning! Both of you come downstairs now!”

Minjeong and Ningning head downstairs and they see Seulgi first.

“Unnie! What—” Minjeong’s eyes widen when they reach the bottom step and see Jimin being caged between Sooyoung and Yerim.

“Which one of you does Yu Jimin belong to?” Yerim is very unimpressed.

Jimin smiled apologetically, her body losing control as Yerim and Sooyoung both locked an arm into Jimin’s.

“Uh, unnies!” Minjeong chuckles nervously. “You're home early?”

An eerie silence settles into the house and Ningning and Minjeong share a look of panic.

“Yerim and I just got off the bus and we were walking home and we saw that Seulgi-unnie came home,” Sooyoung recounts. “Seulgi-unnie walked through the door and then I noticed something strange in our bushes.”

“W-we were just studying! We asked Jimin -ssi to help us study.” Minjeong lies.

“Why’d she launch herself out of your window then?” Sooyoung deadpans.

“I was—”

“Jimin, shush.” Yerim hushes her and Jimin clamps her lips shut.

“Well…” Ningning winces, not sure how to escape this.

“So, I’m going to ask again, which one of you does Jimin belong to?” Yerim asks.

When would Minjeong get another opportunity like this to tell her sisters about her relationship? She’s been afraid of even saying anything because she knows how scary her sisters are. One time, when she was thirteen, a boy asked her out and her sisters followed her on the date until the boy got uncomfortable and cried. So after that fiasco, she rarely told them of any crush she’d have because she didn’t want a repeat of that.

When she was crushing on Jimin, she didn’t tell anyone, not even her best friend Ningning. She only told Ningning when Jimin and she were dating for two weeks and Ningning was gobsmacked at how she could hide that. Good thing Jimin didn’t go to high school with her anymore.

And now, here is Jimin helplessly standing in her living room as her sisters press them for an answer. What better time to confess than now?

“Actually—”
“She’s mine!” Ningning raises a hand and Minjeong’s eyes widen.

“I told her to come over, but we were only studying!” Ningning lies.

"It's good that you were only studying.” Seulgi stares down at Jimin and she wants to run away.

“I’ve heard stories about you, Yu Jimin,” Yerim says. “You better not be preying on these two. Especially my sister.”
“I–I know—I promise!” Jimin stutters.

Good, now you wait here while I call your parents, Ning.” Sooyoung smiles.

“What? Don’t call my mum, unnie!” Ningning whines.

“Jimin, go home," Yerim says.

“O-okay.” Jimin nods, scrambling.

“But—” Minjeong holds her tongue.

Jimin smiles at her sheepishly before leaving the house.

Minjeong sags onto the couch with Ningning.

“Why’d you do that?” She whispers.

“I just saved your ass.” Ningning whispers back. “Can you imagine if Joohyun-unnie was here? She would’ve killed Jimin. Luckily, Aeri-unnie escaped easily. I sacrificed myself because Jimin was sacrificed.”

“Thanks.” Minjeong chuckles.

“Yeah, now I’m going to get yelled at.” Ningning pouts.

“I’ll tell your mum the truth.” Minjeong assures her.

“Thanks, bestie.” Ningning pouts and Minjeong hugs her.

⋆。°✩౨ৎ✩°。⋆

“Babe, can I go?” Sooyoung whines to Seungwan, who’s packing her and Joohyun’s lunch for work.

“I don’t know, Soo…” Seungwan is a bit wary.

“Yerim is going too!” Sooyoung pouts.

Minjeong comes downstairs in pyjamas and rubs her eyes.

“Where are you guys going?” Minjeong yawns.

It’s 7 a.m. on a Thursday and Seungwan and Joohyun are meant to be working a long shift, while Minjeong has school and Yerim and Sooyoung have classes.

“There’s a party tonight.” Yerim says, stuffing some leftovers in her mouth since Sooyoung had classes to go to. “She’s trying to convince Seungwan-unnie to let her go.”
“It’s not that I don’t trust you; it’s that I don’t trust the people around you.” Seungwan says.

“But I’ll be good,” Sooyoung says. “I’ll come home early with Yerim.”

“...Fine.” Seungwan sighs.

“Yes! I love you!” Sooyoung kisses Seungwan’s cheek.

Seungwan chuckles and Sooyoung bounces around the house before she reaches Minjeong.

“Morning, puppy.” Sooyoung walks over to kiss Minjeong’s cheek too.

“Morning, unnie.” Minjeong responds sleepily.

“Did you sleep well?” Joohyun comes downstairs in her work attire and ruffles Minjeong’s hair.

“I slept okay.” Minjeong nods.

“Hey, Jeongie, do you want me to heat some pasta up for you?” Yerim asks.

“Just a little bit, please.” Minjeong heads over to the dining table and takes a seat.

Seungwan packs her bag and Joohyun puts on her shoes, holding her car keys in one hand.

“Be good at school and get ready soon. Don’t be late.” Joohyun tells her. “Wake up Seulgi, too! Don’t let her sleep in and make her drive you to school, okay?”
“Okay!” Minjeong nods. “Have a good day at work!”

“Have a good day at school, love you!” Joohyun says walking out.

“Love you too!” Minjeong beams.

“Bye, Minjeong-ah!” Seungwan waves at her and Minjeong does too.

“Bye!”

Minjeong eats her breakfast and when she finishes, she cleans her bowl before heading upstairs to get ready.

Sooyoung and Yerim run around before heading to Minjeong’s room.

“We’re going to take the bus now! Get to school safe!” Yerim says.

“Yes, unnie.” Minjeong chuckles.

“And remember, no more people going out of windows!” Sooyoung says.

“Yes! Have a good day, unnies!”

And then Minjeong’s left alone, with only Seulgi’s snores filling up the silence in the house. She packs her bag before going to Joohyun’s room and poking Seulgi to wake her.

Minjeong finishes school and she had told her sisters she was going to study with Ningning after school, but instead she was meeting Jimin at a study café. She brings out her schoolwork to work on and Jimin has her laptop as she works on her assignment.

“Unnie.” Minjeong leans over.

“Hm?” Jimin hums, clacking on her laptop.

“I heard that there’s a party tonight," Minjeong says.

“Uh-huh.” Jimin pauses and looks up at her girlfriend. “What is it exactly that you’re trying to say? Do you want to go to it?”
“No!” Minjeong shakes her head, laughing. “I heard that there’s a university party. Sooyoung-unnie was asking Seungwan to go this morning. She’s going with Yerim-unnie.”

“That’s nice.” Jimin hums.

“Why don’t you ever ask permission from me to go to parties?” Minjeong asks.

“Minjeong, I haven’t gone to a party since graduating high school.” Jimin shrugs.

“Is it because you started dating me?” Minjeong asks.

“No, I just didn’t find the need to.” Jimin says, smiling. “Besides, why would I go to a party when I can hang out with you? And talk to you on the phone, hm?”

“Well, you can go to a party, you know.” Minjeong says. “Aeri-unnie probably goes to them too, so why don’t you go and hang out with your friends instead of always being with me?”

“Baby, are you trying to get rid of me?” Jimin chuckles.

“No,” Minjeong whines. “I’m just saying you should go and have fun. You’ve studied hard enough and it’s not like we’re able to hang out all the time.”
“So, if I go to this party, will it make you happy?” Jimin asks.

“Yes.” Minjeong nods.

“Okay.” Jimin shrugs. “I’ll call you if it gets boring, though.”

“Can I go home now?” Jimin asks.

“You told me you just got there." Minjeong giggles through the phone. “ Go meet your friends!”

“But I’d rather be with you right now, or at home, facetiming you.” Jimin whines.

“I’m ending the call!”

“Minjeong baby, wait—”

Jimin blinks.

Minjeong really did end the call.

She shakes her head, smiling at her silly girlfriend, before finding her friends. She’s a few drinks in and she lost sight of Aeri already, but she vaguely sees someone singing karaoke outside with other people near the pool in this house, and she wonders if it’s her best friend.

“Hey, Jimin!” Jimin flinches when someone touches her shoulder.

“O-oh, hi, Yena-sunbae.” Jimin bows slightly at her sunbae of one year.

“What are you doing here all alone?” Yena grins.

“Uh, I lost my friends.” Jimin chuckles.

“Want me to help you find them? Or you can spend time with me.” Yena flirts and Jimin tries to back away.

“I–I’m alright, Sunbae.” Jimin tries to back away.

This is why she doesn’t go to parties—which was what she was trying to explain to her girlfriend. If Minjeong were here, she’d be hung outside in the burning sun on a human-sized skewer.

Yena giggles drunkenly and leans closer to Jimin.

“Woah, okay, Yena buddy, you are drunk!” Yerim pulls Yena away and steers her in a different direction. “How about finding some water instead of flirting with freshmen, hm?”

“But—”
“Water!”

Jimin sighs and Yerim returns to her.

“Sorry about her.” Yerim chuckles.

“Oh, no, thank you, Sunbae.” Jimin bows, wary that this is Minjeong’s older sister.

“Ey? Sunbae? We’re only a year apart; call me unnie!” Yerim beams.

“Okay, unnie.” Jimin smiles.

“Yerimmie! Stop disappearing! You’re small and it’s hard to find you!” Sooyoung makes her way through the crowd. “Oh, Ningning’s Jimin!”

“O-oh, I’m not Ningning’s Jimin. I’m just Yu Jimin.” Jimin blushes.

“Well, I’m just Sooyoung-unnie, then!” Sooyoung giggles. "Hey, what’s in your cup?”
“Oh, a mix I made.” Jimin says. “You can try it, i-if you want?”
“Thanks!”

Sooyoung takes Jimin’s drink and gulps it down.

“Wow, that’s nice!” Sooyoung grins. “What’d you put in it?”

And that’s how Jimin finds herself being a bartender for the night. After a while, Jimin steps out to call Minjeong again, just because she misses her and also because she’s tipsy.

“Don’t tell me you want to go home again?” Minjeong greets her and Jimin chuckles.

“No, no, I just wanted to call because I miss you.” Jimin says. “And that your sisters are fun.”
Are you getting drunk with my sisters, Yu Jimin?” Minjeong asks. “ You three better stay out of trouble.”

“We won’t get into trouble; don’t worry, baby.” Jimin giggles.

I’m glad you’re having fun.” Minjeong says softly.

“I wish you were here, but maybe like next year, not now.” Jimin snorts.

Yeah, you sound terribly drunk, Jiminie. Call me when you actually leave.” Minjeong chuckles.

“I miss you," Jimin says.

Give me kisses,” Minjeong demands.

Jimin holds up her phone and sends kissing noises through the speaker, causing Minjeong to giggle.

“Bye!”

"Wow, I didn’t know Yu Jimin was cheesy like that.” Jimin whips around and finds Sooyoung standing behind her.

“O-oh, hi, unnie.” Jimin blushes.

“Who was that?” Sooyoung teases.

“M-my girlfriend,” Jimin says shyly. “I was just calling because—”
“You missed her,” Sooyoung chuckles. “I miss my girlfriend too.”

“What are you, uh, doing out here?” Jimin scratches her nape.

“I lost Yerim, but I found you instead, so now come help me find her.” Sooyoung says.

“Okay.”

They walk back into the house in search of Yerim.

“I thought you were a flirt, Jimin. I didn’t know you were already locked in.” Sooyoung says.

“Oh, I’m not a flirt.” Jimin shakes her head. “I just don’t really know how to say no.”
“That’s alright; if you become friends with me and Yerim, then you’ll say no forever, but obviously you don’t need to. Your girlfriend sounds cute on the phone.” Sooyoung smiles.

“She’s cute in real life too.” Jimin says shyly, as if Sooyoung doesn’t live with her or something.

They don’t need to find Yerim for too long when she comes rushing out towards them.

“Woah, hey!” Sooyoung grabs onto Yerim. “What’s wrong?”
“I heard some jerk saying nasty things about me,” Yerim says, wiping her eyes.

“What? Who?” Sooyoung frowns.

“Jae—it doesn’t matter; you don’t know him.” Yerim shakes her head. “Can we just go home? I’ve had enough of this party.”

“Okay, we’ll go outside and I’ll call an uber.” Sooyoung nods. “Jimin, are you okay with being alone? Or do you want us to take you home too?”

“Uh,” Jimin frowns, pissed that some jerk would do this to Minjeong’s sister. “Could you wait a sec? I need to make sure my friend, Aeri, is alright before I go too.”

“Okay, we’ll be outside!”

Jimin finds Aeri with their other friends and when she asks her if she’s alright, Aeri throws a thumbs up with a lazy smile. Jimin rolls her eyes with a laugh before making her way outside.

She pauses though when she hears something about Yerim-unnie, and someone calling this ‘Jae’ guy’s name.

“Hey, are you Jae?” Jimin taps the guy on the shoulder.

“Yeah, huh?” He turns around.

“Okay, good.” Jimin smiles and then he’s met with a fist to the face.

“What are you guys doing here?” Seungwan had walked past the emergency room and did a double take when she saw her girlfriend and her sister in the waiting room.

“We didn’t want to leave her,” Sooyoung says, gesturing to the girl sitting in the chair with her head down and clutching a heap of tissues.

“Sunbaes, I told you I’ll be fine.” Jimin speaks nasally.

“Jimin, you got punched in the nose.” Sooyoung rolls her eyes. “And look how much you’re bleeding!”

“I’m fine!” Jimin winces.

“We’re staying until you get fixed. This is my fault anyway.” Yerim says.

“What happened? Why is it your fault?” Seungwan asks, worried about whatever happened. “And I thought you two were going to a party tonight.”

“This happened at that party.” Sooyoung explains. “It was all fine until Yerim came to me crying, saying some douchebag said something nasty about her and I was going to do something, but she told me not to, so we were outside calling an uber. Next thing we know, Jimin’s tussling with the guy.”

“I felt bad when Jimin started bleeding so we called an Uber here instead of home and now here we are." Yerim smiles wryly. “Don’t tell Joohyun-unnie?”

“You two stay out here. Jimin, come with me.” Seungwan instructs them.

Seungwan leads her to an empty bed and makes Jimin sit before inspecting her nose.

“Any dizziness?” She asks.

"No," Jimin answers.

“State your full name." Seungwan holds a flashlight in Jimin’s eyes.

“Yu Jimin.” She answers.

“Good, I’m going to take the tissues away.” Seungwan says and Jimin nods.

“So, how do you know those two idiots outside?” Seungwan asks, looking at Jimin’s nose.

“We go to the same university.” Jimin answers. “Yerim-unnie is one year my senior and Sooyoung-unnie is four years my senior.”

“Oh, you must be a smart girl. What do you study?” Seungwan speaks affectionately since Jimin is only a year older than Minjeong.

“I’m studying to become a doctor too.” Jimin answers.

“Make sure to study hard.” Seungwan chuckles.

Seungwan wipes Jimin’s nose with something cool and presses gently around her skin and Jimin doesn’t wince.

“Alright, it seems like it’s not broken, just a bit bruised.” Seungwan says. “You’ll just have to go home and ice it. I’m going to tape your nose in case you have any discomfort now, okay?”

“Yes, doctor.” Jimin nods.

Seungwan patches Jimin up and the younger girl quietly admires the doctor. She wants to grow up and become someone like Seungwan, too. And Jimin gets why Minjeong looks up to Seungwan a lot. Jimin can tell that Seungwan is a good role model. She seems gentle and kind but she is also stern when she needs to be.

“All done.” Seungwan smiles. “I hope you don’t go around punching anyone again, okay? You’re lucky you fought with some little boy because the damage could’ve been worse.”

“Thanks, doc.” Jimin grins.

“I don’t think Minjeong would like to see you like this either.” Seungwan smirks knowingly.

“How did you—” Jimin’s eyes widened.

“She’s not as quiet as she is normally on the phone.” Seungwan chuckles.

“But—”

“Don’t worry, I won’t tell.” Seungwan leads Jimin back outside.

Sooyoung and Yerim stand up and head over to Jimin.

"So, is it broken?” Sooyoung asks.

“Are you okay?” Yerim asks.

“She’s fine." Seungwan waves them off. “Now I want you two to make sure she gets home safely—and go home quickly before Joohyun-unnie gets wind of this.”

“Okay!”

⋆。°✩౨ৎ✩°。⋆

For the next few days, Minjeong feels strange. Not because her body is going through changes or because she’s confused in class, but because she’s questioning her girlfriend.

She sits at lunch break, scrolling through her chat with Jimin aimlessly.

< Did you get home okay?

> Yes

That last message was when Jimin went to that party and Minjeong excused her girlfriend’s short reply because she must’ve been tired or tipsy.

< Unnie, are you busy?

> I’m busy with assignments, sorry, baby.

That was last week.

< Jiminieeee

< Can we hang out?

< I miss you!!

> I miss you too, Minjeongie

> But I’m working long shifts

That was three days ago.

< Jimin

< Jimin

< Jiminie

< Jimin-unnie

< why aren’t u replying to me :(( I miss you.

And that was today and she hasn’t gotten a single reply since the morning.

“Why are you sighing?” Ningning asks, sitting next to her at their usual lunch table.
“Jimin-unnie hasn’t replied to me.” Minjeong pouts.

“Yah, aren’t you being clingy?” Ningning teases but Minjeong doesn’t respond like she usually would. “Hey, are you okay?”

“I miss her.” Minjeong suddenly feels like crying. “Ning, do you think she’s going to break up with me?”
“Woah! We are jumping to conclusions. Not even jumping anymore; it’s like you leapt over the conclusion, jeez,” Ningning halts Minjeong. “What makes you think so?”

“Well, every time I call her and ask for her facetime, she always says no and says she's busy.” Minjeong pouts. “I know it’s her first year in college and she’s working at that bookstore now, but she used to always make time for me. She just seems distant.”

“Well, maybe it’s just that. Your sister’s first years in uni were busy too, and on top of that, Jimin is working.” Ningning tries to reassure Minjeong.

“But what if she found someone in uni? Someone better than me and someone who’s not clingy.” Minjeong pouts. “I should’ve never encouraged her to go to that party.”

“Stop, stop—you sound like you’re going to cry.” Ningning halts her, holding onto Minjeong’s shoulders. “Jimin-unnie wouldn’t do that to you, okay? Just call her now.”

“Okay…” Minjeong sniffles before dialling Jimin’s number.

Calling Jiminie 💙…

"Hi, baby, why’re you calling?” Jimin’s voice greets.

‘Speaker.’ Ningning mouths and Minjeong nods before pressing the button.

“I just miss you," Minjeong says.

“I miss you too,” Jimin hums. “Isn’t it your lunch break? Are you eating?”

“Yeah, I’m eating. What are you doing?” Minjeong asks. “Are you in class? Is that why you’re whispering?”
“Uh, yeah, I-I’m in class,” Jimin answers. “Hey, listen, I’ll call you back later, baby; I’m in the middle of something.”

“Okay—”

“Jimin-ah, come here.”

The call ends and Minjeong looks at Ningning, who makes a face.

“Okay.” Ningning winces. “M-maybe we’re misunderstanding this!”
“She found someone better!” Minjeong bursts into tears.

“Thanks, doc.” Jimin grins, looking at her healed nose through her phone camera.

“You can call me unnie, you know.” Seungwan chuckles affectionately. “Now that I know you’re dating Minjeong.”
“I get why you’re Minjeongie’s favourite unnie.” Jimin smiles. “You’re very nice, but aren’t you still going to grovel at me for dating Minjeong?”
“I’ll leave that to the other four. You’re on Sooyoung and Yerim’s good side for now, and Seulgi is easy to get past, but your final boss is Joohyun-unnie, so if you want to be with Minjeong, you’ll have to buckle up.” Seungwan says.

“Of course, I love her," Jimin says nonchalantly.

“You love her?” Seungwan smirks and Jimin blinks.

“O-oh.” Jimin blushes.

“Was that the first time you said it out loud?” Seungwan chuckles.

“Kinda. Yeah.” Jimin grins.

"Well, next time, I hope you get to say it to Minjeong.” Seungwan says. “Now that you’re all fixed up, she won’t question you about your face.”

“Thanks again!”

“Get home safe!”

Jimin skips out of the hospital, being able to breathe clearly now. She hadn’t exactly been avoiding Minjeong, but she refused to pick up facetime calls and hangouts because her nose was still jacked up. If Minjeong found out about it, she’d get yelled at, and because her sisters were involved, Jimin didn’t want her sisters to be in trouble with their youngest either. So Jimin lied and said she got busy with work and assignments, but she actually was, but she just got her paycheck on the same day her last check-up for her nose was, so now she can take Minjeong out on a date!

Jimin drives home and when she arrives at her apartment, she doesn’t spare Aeri a glance before running into her room and calling Minjeong.

Her phone trills and rings, but Minjeong doesn’t pick it up. She must be studying, showering or napping. Those were the usual things Minjeong would do.

> Heyyyyy

> Are you free this Saturday?

> Let me take you on a date, baby, I miss you! ♡(´ε` )

“Minjeong, darling, are you alright?” Joohyun knocks on her door.

Minjeong is under her sheets, listening to loud music as she cries over Jimin. She’s scrolling through all of their pictures and recalling their moments in secrecy.

“You’ve been listening to that song for an hour!” Joohyun says.

“Go away!” Minjeong sniffles.

Jimin-unnie found someone better and now she’s going to see me for one last time on that date before breaking up with me!

Why else would she be so distant?

“What’s wrong?” Seulgi walks past and sees Joohyun knocking on the door.

“I called her for dinner ages ago but she’s still listening to those sad songs. I think something happened and I’m worried.” Joohyun turns to Seulgi with a worried expression.

“I’m sure it’s nothing, babe.” Seulgi hugs Joohyun. “We all had a phase like that as teenagers, too, didn’t we?”
“I guess.” Joohyun sighs.

Minjeong cries and sniffles, blowing her snot into a tissue before holding a secret Polaroid she has of Jimin and Minjeong on their second date, looking so shy and cute.

She puts it away before sitting up.

She’ll just have to man up and accept that Jimin is going to break up with her. She’ll get busy with exams so she’ll focus on that instead of being the epitome of teenage angst. They had a good run, Minjeong thinks.

⋆。°✩౨ৎ✩°。⋆

Jimin waits patiently outside of the café that they usually meet up at when they have time to meet up. She can’t help but smile, thinking of spoiling Minjeong all day today. She holds the bouquet of flowers behind her and bounces on the balls of her feet as she waits for Minjeong.

“Unnie.” Jimin whips around when she hears Minjeong’s voice.

“Minjeong-ah!” Jimin grins, running up to Minjeong. “You’re beautiful.”

“Did I make you wait long?” Minjeong asks softly and Jimin grins.

“Not at all!” Jimin says. “I got you tulips, your favourite.”

Minjeong blinks at the bouquet and takes them into her hand, smiling up at Jimin.

“Thank you…” She says it shyly.

“Let’s go in and get something to eat.” Jimin beams, leading Minjeong into the café.

They sit at their usual table near the windows.

“Do you want me to order our usual?” Jimin asks.

“Don’t you… don’t you want to try something new?” Minjeong asks.

“Something new? Hm.” Jimin hums, looking at the menu. “Okay! I’ll ask what’s nice.”

Minjeong sighs softly, leaning her elbows against the table as she watches Jimin go.

Of course, she wants to try something new.

"I got you a chocolate shake; the cashier said it was nice." Jimin beams, sliding the drink over to Minjeong.

“Thanks…” Minjeong hums, sipping the drink.

Jimin had ordered pork katsu and curry for Minjeong and a grilled salmon salad for herself. She takes Minjeong’s plate and quietly slices all of the katsu into small pieces for Minjeong to eat.

“Is that bite-sized enough?” Jimin asks and Minjeong nods. “Good, ah!”

Jimin holds a forkful to Minjeong’s lips and the younger girl blushes before quickly taking the bite, not wanting any onlookers to notice how cheesy they are.

“Good?” Jimin asks.

“Mhm.” Minjeong nods.

“Oh, you’ve got sauce.” Jimin giggles, wiping the corner of Minjeong’s lip with her thumb before licking the sauce off.

Minjeong blushes before digging into her food. Maybe all that crying she did the night before has made her hungry now. She was stressed all morning and didn’t eat breakfast. Maybe Jimin is tired of taking care of her and wants someone to take care of her for a change.

She sighs before poking a piece of salmon and holding it up to Jimin’s lips.

“Oh, you’re feeding me?” Jimin blinks.

“Eat it.” Minjeong grumbles.

Jimin grins before leaning over to take the bite.

“It’s more yummy since you fed it to me.” Jimin flirts.

“You’re cheesy…” Minjeong averts her gaze.

“You like it.” Jimin giggles.

I do. I like you a lot— Minjeong sighs softly.

Once they’ve finished eating, Jimin takes hold of Minjeong’s hand and drags her along to the train station.

“Where are we going?” Minjeong asks.

“Secret.” Jimin smiles, finding a seat in the crowd and pushing Minjeong to sit down. She stands in front of Minjeong and holds onto the handrails above.

Minjeong looks up at Jimin and stares. How did she get someone like Jimin to like her back? Sometimes she thinks about it. She’s still in her last year of high school and Jimin is already in university and she has a job too. She admits she was insistent, begging Jimin to tutor her and to hang out occasionally after school. She did it until she stuck herself into Jimin’s routine until Jimin couldn’t refute her presence.

Minjeong’s sometimes childish and whiny, but she isn’t stupid. She studies hard and is still the student council president, working hard to appeal to the students and the faculty too. She wonders how Jimin juggles all of her university studies with a childish relationship with Minjeong.

“Why are you staring at me?”

Minjeong blinks and finds Jimin smiling at her, one finger poking her cheek.

“Oh, uh.” Minjeong blushes.

“Do you like the view that much? Am I pretty?” Jimin leans closer, whispering cheekily as she pinches Minjeong’s cheek.

“You are.” Minjeong shrugs.

“I know, but I think my view is prettier.” Jimin grins and Minjeong blushes.

“Stop,” she whines softly.

The train comes to a stop and Jimin pulls Minjeong up.

“Here we are!”

It’s a short walk to where Jimin is leading her and Minjeong gasps when the place comes into view.

“How did you get tickets?” Minjeong squeals, clinging onto Jimin.

“Because my beautiful girlfriend is my lucky charm.” Jimin grins.

A new museum and planetarium had opened recently and Minjeong was dying to go. She thinks she whined to Ningning and her sisters about it a million times, but her sisters are busy and Ningning and her combined are broke kids.

“Thank you!” Minjeong beams.

Jimin checks in the online tickets she purchased before following along behind a bouncing Minjeong.

Jimin chuckles, watching fondly as Minjeong races up to every attraction and stares at it for a long time. Jimin follows closely since she knows Minjeong likes to turn around and explain fun facts to her.

She’d never get bored of Minjeong.

I really love her.

It’s after a while that they reach the end of the museum, stopping at the gift shop and Minjeong blinks.

“How long were we in there for?” Minjeong blinks, the excitement wearing off.

“Two hours, my love.” Jimin chuckles, wrapping an arm around Minjeong’s waist. “The allowed time is only an hour and a half.”
“Oh.” Minjeong flushes.

“It’s okay, as long as you had fun.” Jimin chuckles, bringing Minjeong into the gift shop. “Pick whatever you want; I’m paying.”
“But you’ve paid for me all day,” Minjeong pouts.

“Because I’m rich!” Jimin boasts. “Well, just for today.”

Minjeong looks around, locking her hand into Jimin’s since she knows full well that her girlfriend gets distracted easily.

“Minjeong, look at that plushie!” Jimin points.

“Unnie, that’s seventy dollars; it’s a waste.” Minjeong pulls Jimin along.

“Isn’t this cute?” Jimin coos at some shiny necklace.

“It’s brass; it’s going to turn your skin green.” Minjeong tells her and Jimin pouts.

They look around for a while until Jimin spots something.

“Here! These are cute.” Jimin picks out two charms, a star and an earth.

“Why these?” Minjeong blinks.

“Because I’m your whole world and you’re my stargirl.” Jimin beams, shrugging nonchalantly.

“Oh.” Minjeong smiles bashfully. “I like them. And they’re cheap!”

Jimin and Minjeong head back on the train, sitting next to each other with their new charms dangling on their phones. The star is for Jimin, so she can always have a reminder of Minjeong everywhere she goes, and the Earth is with Minjeong to remind her of Jimin.

Minjeong wants this day to never end.

“Hey, can we go to the park and see if Mr. Lee with the ice cream truck is selling?” Minjeong asks.

“Sure.” Jimin nods happily.

Surely enough, Mr. Lee is there, selling ice cream to some families. Minjeong rushes over and tugs Jimin along before buying two ice cream cones and then tugging Jimin to a bench.

“Wait, we need tissues,” Minjeong says, running back to the ice cream truck.

Jimin chuckles, licking at her ice cream, as she watches Minjeong’s back profile, animatedly talking to Mr. Lee. Everyone used to go to Mr. Lee on hot days after school because the park was right next to their high school and they’d always rush out to get a good serve. Jimin often took Minjeong here too and even if she was by herself, she’d come after uni classes to get an ice cream cone too.

Minjeong comes back and sits right next to Jimin. They eat their ice cream, booking up in the sky as they swing their legs back and forth.

“Did you have fun with me today?” Jimin asks when they’ve finished their ice cream.

“Yes, thank you for being such a wonderful date.” Minjeong beams. “Did you have fun?”
“I always have fun with you.” Jimin smiles sweetly.

“Oh, unnie,” Minjeong giggles. “You have ice cream everywhere.”

Minjeong stands up with a tissue and leans down as she wipes Jimin’s mouth and the tip of her nose. Jimin watches Minjeong’s focused expression, where she always sticks her tongue out when she’s really honed in on something. She smiles softly and feels completely smitten by Minjeong.

“Hey, baby, can we talk?” Jimin asks.

“Oh.” Minjeong blinks. “Okay.”

Here it is.

Minjeong sits back down on the bench next to Jimin and braces herself, inhaling deeply.

“I know it’s going to be almost a year of us being together when it gets closer to your exams,” Jimin begins. “And I’m so grateful that you liked me for this long and were brave enough to confess to me when I graduated. I just really want to say that I like you so much, Minjeong, and I’m thankful that you looked past every rumour about me and—wait, Minjeong, why are you crying?”

Jimin blinks, staring at her girlfriend, who has begun to cry.

“Yah!” Minjeong stands up and roars. “If you’re going to break up with me, just do it! Stop saying nice things and doing nice things—and making this so much harder than it has to be!”
“Break up?” Jimin’s eyes widen. “W-what?”

“Aren’t you breaking up with me?” Minjeong cries, looking down at Jimin. “Because you found a prettier and better uni girl? I heard her on the phone when I called you!”

“What?” Jimin blinks, standing up to console Minjeong. “Baby, no, I’m not breaking up with you.”

“You’re not?” Minjeong sniffles.

“N-no, no way; I love you .” Jimin confesses.

“You—you love me?” Minjeong blinks.

Jimin smiles softly and cups Minjeong’s face, wiping at her tears.

“Of course I do. How could I not? That’s what I was trying to tell you.” Jimin says. “I’m thankful that you looked past everything that was said about me and gave me a chance. I'm glad I came back to you to give you a chance too. I love you.”

Minjeong pouts and cries again out of relief and Jimin brings her closer to hug her. Minjeong cries into Jimin’s shoulder and holds onto Jimin’s waist tightly.

“Y-you sweet jerk!” Minjeong whines.

“I love you.” Jimin giggles.

Minjeong wipes away her tears before looking up at Jimin. She doesn’t give it much thought or time for Jimin to process, but she’s standing on her tip-toes and capturing Jimin’s lips with her own. The kiss is soft and sweet, just like Minjeong had imagined it for so long.

Jimin’s eyes are wide but she eases into the kiss, cupping the back of Minjeong’s neck to kiss her better. Jimin licks into Minjeong's mouth and when Minjeong whimpers quietly, she pulls away with a grin.

“And I thought I was going to kiss you first.” Jimin chuckles.

“I love you, too, unnie.” Minjeong blushes, hiding her face in the crook of Jimin’s shoulder and neck.

But wait.

Minjeong pulls away and pouts at Jimin.

“Then who was the voice on the phone the other day?” Minjeong frowns. “Are you seeing other girls?”
“Why would I do that when I have you?” Jimin says. “But I’ve only seen Aeri recently, so I’m not too sure.”
“She called you Jimin-ah , so sweetly!” Minjeong scowls. “Who was it?”
“Who calls me—oh! Seungwan-unnie!” Jimin remembers. “I was at the hospital and she was calling to check on me.”
“You’re close with my unnie?” Minjeong blinks and then her brows furrow. “But wait, what were you doing at the hospital?”

And so reluctantly, Jimin recounts what happened at the party and the days after that.

“So that’s why you were avoiding me.” Minjeong huffs as Jimin walks her home.

“Yeah, don’t be mad? Don’t be mad at your sisters either.” Jimin clings to Minjeong’s arm.

“I’m not mad, but you’re stupid. You should've just told me.” Minjeong says.

“Sorry.” Jimin smiles sheepishly.

“And thank you.” Minjeong pecks Jimin’s cheek chastely. “For defending my sister.”
“I’d do it again, but maybe without violence.” Jimin says and Minjeong giggles.

“Oh no, we’re home already.” Minjeong pouts.

Before they know it, they’re standing right outside of Minjeong’s house.

“Are you sad that our day is over?” Jimin coos softly, pulling Minjeong close to her as she wraps her arms around her waist.

“Yes. I wanted to spend more time with you since you’ve been avoiding me for days,” Minjeong grumbles.

“I won’t ever do it again.” Jimin chuckles. “I promise to hang out with you more.”

“Good. Now kiss me.” Minjeong grins.

Jimin leans down and kisses Minjeong languidly, savouring the moment shared between young lovers. Jimin pulls back and kisses Minjeong’s cheeks, then presses a long one to her forehead.

“I love you," Jimin says.

“I know,” Minjeong beams, hugging Jimin tightly.

“Hey, you have to say it back.” Jimin pouts.

“If you kiss me again, I’ll say it.” Minjeong grins cheekily.

“Making me work for it, huh? Oh, how the tables have turned.” Jimin chuckles.

“Hurry before my sisters come out to look for me.” Minjeong whines softly.

“Alright, baby,” Jimin smiles before leaning down to kiss Minjeong again.

Jimin heads to pull away but Minjeong leans closer to kiss longer, eagerly opening her mouth more to lengthen the kiss.

“Mm, Minjeong—”

“Yah!”

They pull away quickly at the sound of Joohyun’s voice.

“Who are you and why are you kissing my baby sister?!” Joohyun’s just come out of her car and she’s rushing towards Jimin.

“W-wait, unnie—” Minjeong’s eyes widen.

“Joohyun-unnie, wait!” Seungwan rushes after her.

It’s too late and they’re too slow to stop Joohyun’s wrath. A quick movement of her hand and then a shoe is being hurled at Jimin’s face.

“Oh god," Jimin crumbles onto the floor, wondering how the shoe came so hard and fast like a damn baseball.

“What’s going on?” Sooyoung and Yerim open the door and Seulgi follows.

“Am I bleeding, doc?” Jimin sits on the couch inside Minjeong's residence.

“Nope, just in pain, I presume.” Seungwan smiles apologetically, holding an ice pack to Jimin’s nose.

Minjeong huffs, having to sit on the opposite couch instead of being next to Jimin since her sisters are standing around her.

“Unnie, you really didn’t have to throw your shoe at her.” Minjeong huffs, scowling at Joohyun.

“I’ve just come home from a shift at the hospital and I’ve seen enough things all day,” Joohyun sighs, rubbing at her temples. “Can you imagine my surprise when I see my little sister, my child, being kissed by some stranger I’ve never seen before in my life? How else could I have reacted?”
“Calmly maybe?” Minjeong says distraught.

“Okay, I apologise, but seriously, who is this?” Joohyun points to Jimin.

“She goes to our university.” Sooyoung answers.

“She’s a first-year.” Yerim chimes in.

“What’s a first-year doing with a high schooler?” Joohyun raises her brows.

“Unnie!” Minjeong whines. “It’s not like that. Jimin went to the same high school as me!”

“Wait, wait, I thought you were closer with Ningning?” Sooyoung pauses. “She said you belonged to her when we found you.”

“Well, Ning was covering for me.” Minjeong blushes. “I called her over.”

“Wait, she’s been in our house before and I didn’t know?” Joohyun backtracks. “Seulgi, did you know?"

Seulgi faces the ceiling and doesn’t say a word.

“Yah, KangSeul!” Joohyun gasps.

“They told me not to tell!” Seulgi cowers.

“Were you two alone in the house? Kim Minjeong, did you sneak her in?” Joohyun says it sternly.

“N-no! Ningning was with me and Jimin’s friend was too! We were studying!” Minjeong defends herself. “She walked through the front door.”
"Yet she launched herself out of your window.” Sooyoung snorts.

“She what?” Joohyun’s eyes widen. “How many times have you done this?”

"Wait, something doesn’t add up to me,” Yerim says. “Minjeong, you told us you were going out with Ningning today.”
“Well, I, um, I lied.” Minjeong flushes.

“I did not raise you like this!” Joohyun gasps, scandalised.

“I have to lie! Or else you'll chase who I like away! Remember what you did to Shotaro?” Minjeong says, exasperatedly.

“Well, that’s because you were too good for him.” Sooyoung excuses.

“I was thirteen.” Minjeong deadpans.

“Okay, so are you dating Jimin?” Sooyoung asks. “I haven’t heard pretty things about her.”
“What have you heard?” Joohyun whips around to face her sister.

“Uh, things. Not that bad, not on my level of high school bad.” Sooyoung grins and Joohyun shudders, recalling the nightmare Sooyoung was when she was in high school and in her first year of university.

"Well, since Jimin is here anyway, yes, I’ve been lying for quite some time but for good reason!” Minjeong huffs. “We went on a date today.”

The room falls silent and Jimin looks up to Seungwan, who shrugs.

“Absolutely not.” Joohyun shakes her head, standing up to pace.

“Unnie, why not? Jimin is a good kid.” Seungwan says. “She’s respectful and she’s been sweet to Minjeong since the beginning. She even helps her with her schoolwork.”

“Why are you on her side?” Joohyun frowns. “You barely know her.”
“Jimin isn’t actually bad; she’s a really good girl, just clumsy often.” Yerim says.

“You too?” Joohyun sighs.

“Well, she punched a guy for Yerim, so I vote for Jimin.” Sooyoung giggles.

“What? What happened?” Joohyun feels an oncoming headache.

“You remember that party Soo and I went to?” Yerim begins. “Well…”

“And then they came to the hospital, and I fixed Jimin up.” Seungwan finishes.

“You guys were in the hospital and I knew nothing of it?” Joohyun pinches the bridge of her nose. “Do I know anything that is going on in my own house anymore?”

"Well, you know now." Minjeong walks over to Jimin and holds her hand. “Jimin is my girlfriend and she loves me.”

“But—”

“And before you say anything, no, Jimin didn’t come onto me. I–I actually confessed to her when she graduated.” Minjeong blushes and Jimin smiles at her encouragingly. “We became friends first and I persisted until she gave in to me.”

Joohyun nods before gesturing to Minjeong to move back.

“Unnie…”
“Sit down.” Joohyun points to the spot next to Jimin.

Seungwan takes the ice pack away from Jimin’s face and moves back too. Joohyun takes a seat on the coffee table in front of Jimin and the younger girl swallows thickly, backing away slightly.

“Your full name and age?” Joohyun asks.

“Uh, Yu Jimin, m-ma’am.” Jimin stutters. “And I’m eighteen this year.”

“What’s your major?” Joohyun asks.

“Medical studies.” Jimin answers.

“You want to become a doctor?” Joohyun asks, hiding her impressed face.

“Y-yes, like you and Seungwan-unnie.” Jimin nods.

“How far have you gone with my sister?” Joohyun asks.

“Unnie—” Minjeong whines.

“Shush, Minjeong, I’m having an adult conversation.” Joohyun says.

Minjeong huffs and Seungwan pats her head.

“We, uh, w-we’ve only had our first kiss today,” Jimin blushes.

“Seriously?” Yerim’s eyes widen.

“Wow, you have crazy self control.” Sooyoung snorts.

“You either be quiet or go upstairs.” Joohyun sighs before turning to her sisters and her fianceé and they all nod.

“What do you think you can give Minjeong?” Joohyun asks seriously. “What will you say that guarantees me that you’ll take care of Minjeong? How do I know you’re not playing with her or that you’re a distraction to her?”

“Um,” Jimin swallows.

She glances to her side and sees Minjeong’s worried expression. Minjeong fidgets and Jimin smiles softly before taking Minjeong’s hand in hers and squeezing it tightly. She turns to Joohyun with confidence.

“I know I’m still young, but the job I have working at the bookstore can allow me to buy things for Minjeong when she wants, but I'm also studying hard to become a doctor so in the future, I will be able to provide more for Minjeong.” Jimin says. “I had a lot of shortcomings before falling in love with Minjeong, but I work hard and I care a lot for Minjeong and I try my best to make her happy to make up for my shortcomings. I know Minjeong deserves everything good and knowing she’s been raised by her strong older sisters, I can see what kind of love Minjeong deserves. I promise to not distract her and to only aid her in her studies so that she can go to a good university too. I am not playing with her and have never thought like that about her or anyone I’ve ever met. I may not have a lot right now, but I will have more in the future, but for now, I only have my love for Minjeong and I love her a lot. ”

Jimin bites her lip nervously, her eyes darting to Minjeong and to her sisters. Seungwan smiles proudly at her, Sooyoung and Yerim nod in acknowledgement and Seulgi gives a thumbs up.

Joohyun sighs before standing up and moving away.

“Unnie?” Minjeong calls back softly, tears in her eyes, feeling her gut twist with anxiety. She’s not sure if she can lose Jimin and she doesn’t want to lose her sister either.

"Jimin," Joohyun says.

“Y-yes?” Jimin swallows.

“You can call me unnie, and please do stay for dinner.” Joohyun doesn’t look back as she heads towards the stairs. “I need to shower; I have a headache…”

Jimin’s eyes widen and she turns to Minjeong, who is grinning.

“W-wait, does that mean we’re allowed to date?” Jimin asks.

“Welcome to the family, kid.” Seulgi grins, walking past Jimin and patting her head.

“That was impressive,” Sooyoung nods.
“You ate that.” Yerim throws a thumbs up.

Minjeong squeals and pounces on Jimin, hugging her tightly.

“Thank you, unnie.” Minjeong uses aegyo as she clings onto Joohyun.

“Don’t suck up to me.” Joohyun grimaces but doesn’t push Minjeong away.

“I love you, Joohyun-unnie!” Minjeong presses a wet kiss on Joohyun’s cheek.

“Minjeong!” Joohyun laughs at the audacity of her sister.

Joohyun rolls her eyes at a giddy Minjeong before finishing setting up the futon beside Minjeong’s bed.

“No funny business. You sleep on the floor, got it?” Joohyun turns to Jimin.

“Y-yes, unnie.” Jimin bows meekly.

“Good. Don’t stay up late,” Joohyun says and then she turns around again. “Leave the door open.”

“Unnie, relax,” Minjeong giggles.

“Don’t test me.” Joohyun pinches Minjeong, who yelps.

Joohyun leaves the room and Minjeong jumps onto her bed. Jimin sits on the futon and peels back the blanket before settling on the futon, but she stops when she hears Minjeong giggle.

“What?” Jimin blinks.

“You’re not seriously sleeping on the futon, right?” Minjeong grins.

“Joohyun-unnie said so.” Jimin shrugs.

“Are you that scared of her?” Minjeong chuckles.
“Yes. I was so prepared to go down on my knees to beg her to love you that I didn’t mind being thrown out.” Jimin shudders at what could have occurred earlier.

“She’s all mush; she’s not scary at all.” Minjeong says. “Come up on my bed.”
“No way, Joohyun-unnie just got used to the idea of me and was nice enough to set up a futon for me.” Jimin shakes her head. “No way am I breaking her trust.”

“Please, just come up?” Minjeong pouts. “They won’t care.”
“Don’t give me those puppy eyes—don’t tempt me, Kim Minjeong.” Jimin shakes her head and lies down.

“Fine.” Minjeong huffs.

She turns off the lamp and lies down in bed. Jimin lies on her back, facing the ceiling and tries her best to close her eyes, but the way Minjeong is rolling around in her bed is too noisy.

“You know, I’ll be cold and lonely without you up here.” Minjeong whispers. “Why sleep on the floor when there's a comfy bed with me lying—”
“Okay, okay!” Jimin huffs, pushing the blanket off of her before climbing into Minjeong’s bed.

“I knew you’d cave in.” Minjeong giggles, pulling Jimin close to her as she lays her head on her chest, throwing her limbs over Jimin.

“It’s going to cost me something if I keep giving into you in the future.” Jimin chuckles, running her hand up and down Minjeong’s back.

“Why? You love me.” Minjeong teases.

“I do.” Jimin smiles.

“Are you kids warm enough?” Jimin startles and her first instinct is to roll off onto the futon, but it's just Seungwan. “Relax, it’s just me.” Seungwan chuckles.

“We are, unnie.” Minjeong giggles. “Don’t worry.”
“Okay, sleep well. Good night.” Seungwan smiles.

“Night!”

Seungwan grins cheekily before closing the gap in the door that Joohyun made earlier.

“Are you sleepy?” Minjeong looks up and Jimin hums softly. The movement of rubbing Minjeong’s back slows down.

“Mm.” Jimin exhales.

“I love you.” Minjeong whispers.

“...I love you too.” Jimin answers.

Minjeong grins before stealing a kiss from Jimin, who’s fallen asleep. She snuggles up to Jimin before closing her eyes too.
