when i held his lifeless body in my hands
gently brushing his blonde hair out of his face
helplessly watching as the sparkle that once looked at me so kindly
fade away.
i hold the universe when i hold you
i held the universe when i held you.
i realize only after
the empty space you once occupied
as your spirit haunts me
of what i didn’t recognize
and all i could have done
it’s only after
that i acknowledge
how dearly i look at your purple purple eyes
how i looked at your purple eyes.
i too realize we never could have been
because even the moon and the sun
as far apart as they are
have to cross paths
to create something as beautiful as a solar eclipse
in every universe, we are starcrossed lovers
not having a fulfilling love story
but what is told
and what is the reality
is good enough for us.
