Chapter Text
You told Demetri there was no way you were going to the party at Moon's house and some how here you were, getting dragged through the front door of her house by none other than your dojo member Miguel. Somehow within the first few minutes of being in the house Miguel patted you on the back and disappeared into the crowed of school mates and people you've never met before. You slowly made your way through the house, having to push a few teens out of the way while doing so, running into Moon finally.
"Oh my god, (Y/n)! Demetri said you weren't coming I didn't expect you to be here. Drinks are in the kitchen and kegs in the backyard." She had a wide smile on her face, red solo cup in hand the only indicator is was a real high school party and not the kind you, Eli and Demetri used to have. You gave her a smile back not wanting to seem rude with her knowing you didn't want to be here. "Yeah, ended up having a change of plans and thought why not come over for the fun." You knew that was a lie but couldn't muster up the guts to tell her the real reason why you didn't want to show. Scanning the crowd you seen the one person you did want to avoid here, that person being Demetri in question. "Well I'm so glad you could make it (Y/n). I'm gonna get back in there go have fun." She gestured over her shoulder back towards the living room where Demetri was. Once she turned around to leave you spun around to part ways but ended up running face first into someone's chest. You stumbled back a few steps taking a look to see who it was.
"What were you two talking about?" You had a confused look on your face. "Hawk?" He gave you a stupid flirty smile like he normally does, handing you a red cup full of who knows what. "Here princess, drink up." Taking the cup from his hand and taking a sip, that damned nickname he decided to call you since he turned into “Hawk” and god did it ruffle your feathers. It was liquor mixed with little to no coke, this wasn’t your first rodeo but god was liquor not your go to drink, especially with little to no mixer in it as well. “Jeez I know you’re a badass now but no mixer? What’s wrong with you?” You choked out a small laugh, looking around at everyone.
Hawk gave you a friendly chuckle with a smile and took a sip of his own drink. “It’s honestly something you just get used to. But what were you two ladies talking about?”
You threw a playful smile on your face you knew about Hawk and Moon’s old relationship and you knew how hung up on her he was. “Oh, you know just the usual; nails, hair and how I’m gonna beat your ass if you don’t stay out of my business.” Punching hawk in the shoulder, but immediately turning your attention to the the cheering going on out back.
Making your way out of the sliding glass doors onto the back porch to be met with the crown of people standing around Tory and some random guy standing on bar stools on one foot chugging out of red solo cups as the crowd cheered ‘chug! chug! chug!’ Watching as Tory gulped down her cup swiftly. You clapped and cheered her along as the guy fell down off of his stool Tori held her cup to rejoice in her winnings throwing the cup down to the ground and yelling into the crowd who wanted to challenge her next and both you and Tory loved challenging each other at the dojo so what could be the damage in taking up her offer.
“Who wants to go next!”
“Hey, miss sunshine! I’ll take ya up on your offer!” You held on to some poor guys shoulder as you climbed atop of the wooden bar stool your chunky heel of your ankle boots making a clonking noise at it made contact, being handed a red solo cup. You and Tory both stared at each other with a gleam in your eyes a challenge in which who could hold their alcohol and themselves up better on one foot. Tory definitely knew how to hand her alcohol but you’ve seen her sparring at the dojo you’ve out balanced her plenty of times to know you could win this you just had to hold on longer than she could, obviously.
”New game!” Both you and Tory raised your cups in a cheering motion inches away from clinking the plastic cups together, raising one leg up just like a flamingos and all at once the crowd started just as they had been earlier when you walked out shouting, Chug! Chug! Chug!. Tory gulped down her drink in fast succession as you slowly started to down yours, this wasn’t a race of who could drink the fastest just of who could stand on one leg drunken longer. Tori had been at this game long before you had stepped outside so she couldn’t last much longer could she?
Finishing your drink here some people on the crowd cheering for you long with stingray and some girl he brought along. Getting handed another cup, downing that one a bit quicker this time you began to sway a bit as the wind pushed through, Tori couldn’t help but smirk as you tried to ground yourself to stop the swaying.
”Is it getting too much for you, freak?”
You crumbled the empty cup in your hand before throwing in to the ground not caring who it hit on the way down. “Not yet, but you couldn’t possibly last much longer sunshine!”
Yes to everyone else it might seem as if you and Tory actually hated each other but in all honesty that’s just how you’ve acting towards each other since you’ve became friends, saying rude things to each other in challenges to push each other to do better. You called her sunshine because of the very clear difference of her attitude to the seemingly nice name, everyone could tell Tory’s attitude was anything but Mrs.sunshine. And she called you what’re the hell she felt like would fit in the moment but sometimes you still felt as if there was some truth behind her words as you were in fact a freak. Hung out with people of a much lower popularity class as everyone else at least that’s how most people see it.
Taking another cup from a hand in the crowd, Tory doing the same the crowd began again yelling Chug! Over and over again. Both of you about six maybe seven cups in and now moving onto shot of vodka holding the shot glass in your hand you began to sway you noticed that you had almost put your foot down but focused and steadied yourself.
“How ya doing over there, (y/l)?” Tory gave you a smirk.
”Oh I could do this all night.” You threw back your shot and threw it to the ground. And just like that Tory was lying on her back, the stool had kicked out from beneath her.
“Guess someone couldn’t hold their liquor, huh?” You looked down on Tory from atop of your stool. Tory gave you a disgusted look as you stepped down off of the stool, throwing out your hand you helped pick Tori up from the ground.
”Good game there sunshine.” You smiled and jokingly nudged she arm with your elbow.
“Didn’t think you’d be able to hold your liquor sweetheart. But Monday in the dojo a new challenge.”
”Oh you’re so on Tory!” You patted her on the back accepting the challenge turning to walk back inside to the kitchen. At this point the world was spinning a bit but eh you would manage, mixing up another drink of vodka and whatever mixer was laying around on the counter.
“(Y/n)? I thought you said you weren’t coming.” Whipping your head around to me met with Demetri with a confused but saddened looking face. You knew it was inevitable that you weren’t going to avoid on of your friends for long but god why did it have to be while you were drunk.
“Demetri, hey!” You couldn’t notice the slight slurring in your words but he definitely could. “Here take a sip you look a lot more sober than I am now.” Pushing your drink towards his face.
Demetri pushed the cup out of his face, ”You know drinking isn’t going to make you forget about him you know.”
Chugging down your cup and angrily placing it back on the counter before trying to start making another one. “I don’t know what you’re talking about Demetri. I’m having fun, letting loose ya know. Now drop it.”
He shook his head in frustration and pursed his lips together before stating, “Are you going to tell him? Or am I going to have to? This is the longest running running secret I’ve kept and believe it or not it’s eating at me.”
”Gonna tell who what?” Hawk stood across the kitchen island from you both. You swore your heart stopped beating in that moment in time as your eyes connected.
“Hawk… it’s nothing drop it.” You grabbed your mixed drink and went to step away.
”She’s been in love with you for years and you’re to blindly in love with Moon to see it!”
You felt your cup slipping out of your hand as Demetri blurted out your entire life secret the one that’s been eating away at you for years, the one you stayed up at night thinking about constantly, the one that made you avoid playing truth in truth or dare. The one that made you join karate in hopes that maybe then he’d see.
You didn’t stick around to see what you come out of either of their mouths, making a b-line out of the kitchen pushing and shoving people out of your way to the nearest set of stairs to get way from everything and then everyone. Shutting yourself away into a bathroom with your back up against a way in hopes no one would be bothered to come looking for you. The sound of knocking pushed you out of your trance of running through your own head.
“It’s occupied!”
Another laps of knocking came from the other side.
”For fucks sake I said it was occupied!”
Again more knocking and at this point you were drunk and beginning to get more angry than you already were quickly unlocking the door and swinging it open, “Can’t you fucking lis-“
You hastily tried to shut the door again as a foot got stuck in the door, “Hawk go away.” You felt defeated, absolutely drug through the mud.
”(Y/n), you’re drunk and I don’t think you should be alone right now.” He started to push the door open some more, you just stepped back believing you’d be strong enough in your drunken state to push against the door to keep him out.
Closing the door behind him and leaning up against the sink while you stood across from him in your original position against the wall. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“And what exactly was I supposed to say to you? Oh hey Eli I’ve been I love with you since middle school please date me!” You flapped your arms around as you spoke.
Hawks breathe hitched when you heard you call him Eli for the first time in a while. “I’ve liked you too for a while but I’m sorta with Moon and you know that.” Hawk across his arms over his chest.
That made your blood boil that he’s still pining after a girl who’s clearly not interested in him anymore at this point you were in fact shouting in anger, “Oh please Eli, she doesn’t like you anymore! Why don’t you see that?”
Hawk dropped his arms down to his sides in disbelief of your words, “We’re on a break dude and I’m trying to win her back over!”
It was now a screaming match between the two of you and your didn’t care who heard you at this point. “I’ve been your friend for a while now Eli and I’m definitely not afraid to tell you that you’re a fucking idiot she’s clearly moved on did you not see her in the living room arm wrapped around that other girl!”
”Maybe we shouldn’t be friends then anymore if you’re going to try make me feel stupid about my decisions!”
”Fine then Eli I’m not gonna be here when she breaks your heart!” You swung the bathroom door open and pushed past Eli to get out of the door making sure you push your shoulder into his as you went past. Can’t believe Demetri and how stupid Eli is being.
