Chapter Text

Rose Marion Tyler was an extraordinary girl. She has done something nearly no other person has done. She has met aliens both good and bad. In times of need, a mysterious stranger called The Doctor was there to help save the day.

Rose lived in The Powell Estate all her life. While it arguably wasn't the perfect home, it was still a home nonetheless. She lived in a flat with her mum Jacqueline “Jackie” Tyler. She also had many friends around the estate such as her best mate Shareen Costello. There was also Sharon Allen and Rose's wannabe boyfriend Mickey Smith. The three of them were also involved in alien incursions.
Rose and Shareen had known each other since they were small. While Shareen’s “bubbly” personality would be a big turning off point for anyone, Rose wasn't one of them. Shareen was very friendly and easy to talk to. Sharon was the other half of the trio. She was inquisitive and no nonsense in her approach. She hoped to become a journalist or a news reporter one day.

It was February and Valentine's Day was coming up soon. Unlike the other girls, Rose couldn't care less about Valentine's Day. She had more important stuff to care about. One day maybe she will find someone, but not right now. Shareen, on the other hand, was always going out with boys. She was optimistic that someday she would find the one.

The three girls were on their way back from school one day. They were just off the bus and nearing the doors of the Powell Estate.
“So Rose, has he asked you out for Valentine's day?” Shareen asked.
“What are you talking about?” Rose asked.
“You know what I'm on about”.
“No I don't”.
“Sheesh Rose, at this point the whole school will know if it happened”.
“What happened?”.
“What Shareen is trying to ask you is, has Mickey given you a card yet?” Sharon said bluntly.
“I’m honestly surprised that he hasn't yet this year”. Rose replied.
“Aren't you not the least bit interested.in him?” Shareen asked.
“Why are you into him?” Rose asked.
“I didn't say that, I'm just saying that it's blatantly obvious he has feelings for you”.
“I know, but I'm not sure if I feel the same way,” Rose said.
“Wait, so it's a 50/50?” Sharon asked.
“Don’t you start now Sharon” Rose stated.
The three girls were about to walk up the stairs to their flats, when Shareen dropped papers from her bag.
“What's that?” Rose asked as she picked it up.
“It's my own personal profile to show off to guys,” Shareen said.
Rose and Sharon looked at the paper and it had Shareen’s likes and dislikes. Her favourite food, tv shows and hobbies. Rose and Sharon shared an annoyed expression with each other.
“What's wrong?” Shareen asked.
“It’s just, why do you do this to yourself?” Rose asked.
“Do what?”.
“Every Valentine's Day, you hype yourself up that you're going to find the perfect guy, and every year you get upset because it ends in disappointment” Rose explained..
Shareen looked at Sharon.
“I have to agree with Rose, this happens every year” Sharon stated.
“What, a girl could dream, can't she?” Shareen asked.
.”Yes, but at the same time you have to lower your expectations,” Rose said.
“You don't think I can do this, can you?”.
“We are not saying that, we are just saying to prepare for disappointment” Sharon said.
“Anyway, i will see you two tomorrow” Shareen then just went upstairs.
“Shareen, wait!” Rose said but it landed on deaf ears as they heard the top door close.
“It's alright, Rose, she will probably forget about this by tomorrow” Sharon said.
“I’m just worried about her,” Rose said.

Rose had made it to her family flat. When she got in, she saw her mum Jackie sitting on the sofa and watching T.V.
“How was school?” Jackie asked.
“Oh, the usual” Rose replied as she sat down on the nearby chair.
“What’s wrong?”.
“Nothing”.
“Rose, I know when something is troubling you”.
Jackie was right in that regard. Jackie could usually tell from Rose’s expressions that something was wrong. It was something she got from her late dad Pete.
“Oh alright, it's Shareen” Rose stated.
“What has Shareen done to you?” Jackie asked defensively.
“She hasn't done anything to me, it's just that-”.
“Just what?”
“Shareen convinces herself every year that the next guy she meets will sweep her off her feet”.
“What's wrong with a little dream?” Jackie asked.
“Nothing, it's just that every year Shareen sets herself up for disappointment and blames herself when things don't go to plan”.
. “Well you know what they say, if you don't succeed, try again” Jackie replied.
“But mum”.
“Rose, if you show Shareen support and encouragement, she might have a chance of finding someone”.
“That's not what I meant”.
“Let me tell you a story, back in 1985 when I first met your father, everyone was saying that I deserved better than him. Our financial situation wasn't perfect, but I knew he was the one for me. You tell Shareen to never give up your dreams, regardless of what others think.
Rose just smiled.
“Now then, I'm going to cook dinner,” Jackie stated.

Later that night, the skies of London were clear. You would think it would just be another quiet night, but you would be wrong. Something crashes from the sky into the ocean below. It left a tail in the sky as it crashed. It was a spaceship that had sunken to the bottom of the ocean. Three life forms emerged from the craft while underwater. They swam up to the surface and towards the docks. These beings had the ability to breathe both underwater and on land. Their mission was simple: bring a potential wife for their son back to their home world to raise the next generation of their kind. One of the beings climbed up the dock platform with spindy like arms. It was now time to blend in with the native lifeforms.
