First meetings (A kiss on the cheek?)

Summary:

"Alright Faith - let's go see, mum. She has a suprise." Wyll chuckled, kneeling down and holding out his hand to his daughter.

"Alright, papa." Faith replied, reaching out to grasp her father's hand. She couldn't wait to see what surprise she was going to get.

Notes:

Ayyy, I'm back at it again. This one is actually based on myself as a child. Yeah. Nearly the same age difference, but I was four not three. Ah, kids.
Anyway, once again, Wyll and Joy - you gotta love them!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Wyll held Faith’s hand as he led her into his bedroom, eyes looking forward to his wife who laid in bed, holding their newest addition to the family.

Joy felt exhausted, face damp with sweat and hair still a mess, but she smiled as she watched her husband and daughter make their way over.

“Hello, loves.” The woman said softly, adjusting herself the best she could manage. The midwife had healed her as much as possible, but even with spells, giving birth still took so much out of her.

Faith let go of Wyll's hand - the 3-year Old clambering up and onto the bed to lay with her mother, resting her head upon her chest.

“Ah – Faith, sweetheart, be careful!” Wyll warned, his tone just nearly above a scold before Joy shook her head.

“Ah, it’s alright, Wyll, I’m fine.” Joy then moved to adjust the swaddle the new baby was in, revealing more of his face. “I’m sure Faith is just excited to meet her new baby brother.”

Looking over, Faith stared curiously.

“Faith – this is Justice.”

After getting a good look at the infants face, the toddler scowls. “I wanted a unicorn.” She then sits up to look at Joy. “Mummy, take him back and get a unicorn.”

“A – a unicorn?” Wyll laughed out, caught off-guard.

Joy was caught off guard, but smiled at her daughter nonetheless. “Faith, honey, Justice isn’t going anywhere – he came from mummy’s tummy.”

At this, Faith crosses her arms. “Then put him back.” The toddler insisted.

“Sweetheart, there was never going to be a unicorn.” Her father tried to state, “And your mother can’t just put him back.”

“Why not?” She asked, her little scowl still upon her face.

Joy and Wyll flashed looks at each other for just a moment, clearly not expecting such a reaction from their daughter.

“Faith, please, how about you come look at your brother again? Please? I promise he’s much better than a unicorn.” Joy asks, moving the baby in her arms, revealing more of him to her toddler as she does so.

“Look – isn’t he such a handsome boy? That’s your little brother – you need to take care of him. Just as he’ll take care of you, eventually.” Wyll stated, moving to sit on the edge of the bed, his hand making its way to Faith’s back to pat it gently.

She leaned in close to Justice – Joy and Wyll watched on happily as they thought she was going to give her baby brother a kiss.

That was before Justice began wailing. The toddler had sucked his cheek into her mouth – not giving him a gentle kiss at all.

“That’s it – Faith Ravengard, you are going to spend time with your grandfather!” Wyll stated, standing up and scooping up the girl.

Ignoring the toddlers protests, he shot an apologetic look to Joy, who was trying to comfort their poor infant son.

Joy nodded at Wyll, moving to caress Justice’s cheek, murmuring soft words of healing.

As her husband and toddler left the room, she sighed, leaning back with her infant.

Perhaps two is enough.’ She thought to herself.
