solar shoved the things on his desk— some even clattering to the floor but he couldn't careless. his fluffy volume bounced slightly when his head made contact with the wood and soon enough, cries echoed his empty dormitory.
"stupid..stupid..stupid.."
he muttered, as his overconfidence let him to fail transfiguration- one of the most important exams. and to worsen his mood, taufan, his dumber peer, managed to pass the exam and snatched first place.
that was unfair, solar is the one to aced everything— a single fail in his report card shouldn't be the reason for taufan, who barely passed the all other subjects, to be crowned instead.
a hand suddenly caressed his back, somehow solar didn't feel the need to smacked it away, it was comforting— solar could be lull to sleep by it maybe. "thorn.." solar whimpered as his face raised to meet the emerald orbs of his best mate..—that's not thorn. instead of emerald, he is met with citrusy orange.
"vassenara?.. this isn't your chamber..-" solar tried to muster up his usual snarky tone but it only sounded like a whimpering stray dog to the gryffindor. blaze flushed, "well.. I went here with ice and—" a finger ushers him to stop and solar understood what he was trying to say.
"you look like a mess" the arsonist commented after the finger backed, running a thumb to wiped the tears nicely. "why do you care?" solar snapped, making blaze raised his hands in defence, "I was just being honest!" the awkward silence made arsonist a tad bit nervous,
"water?" blaze tried to pucker up another conversation, the glass that was previously unnoticed was gulped down in a hurry until solar felt his throat lumpy and choked. "calm down idiot, don't die before telling me what made you like this!" solar gazed at blaze in confusion for the sudden assertive tone he used.
"I flunked an exam and dropped to second place.." blaze raised his eyebrow— "and?" the arsonist asked, "what do you mean?"
"you're telling me, failing an exam is making you all mental and gloomy?" solar heard the somewhat mocking tone blaze had, and was falling deeper into the rabbit hole— that was his sadness. "dude-.. dude, no need to cry!- I was just saying that because life is more than just exams-" solar raised his eyebrow and blaze takes it as a queue to continue, "I meant like, life is so much more than this, if your crying because of some dumb paper now then you might as well kill yourself if you, I don't know.. didn't get the job you wanted in the future-?" despite the hesitance that coated blaze's every word, solar found it strangely comforting.
"you're saying my mental breakdown is unjustified?"
"NO!!.." blaze fumbled with his wordings, making everything else sound like complete gibberish. solar chuckled, "calm down idiot, don't die before telling me what made you like this!" the slyterin teased and blaze seems rather confused.
"what?"
"nevermind, I feel like it's important to add that taufan got first place instead of me" solar explained, his silver orbs seeming distracted. "you still not over that yet?" blaze frowned, understanding what solar meant, the slyterin ignored the question he was asked and remarked "I reckon you will tell him this, you guys are best mates after all" the frown deepened, "do you really think of me that lowly?"
"I feel like you should worry more about your precious 'thornie' than me if it's about snitching."
"I beg your pardon?" solar's tone was somewhat defensive at the mention of thorn, yet blaze continued. "thorn rats you out any chance he gets, why do you think he was sorted into slyterin for god's sake!" solar frowned, "not every slyterin is bad.."
"that's not what I mean-!" seeing solar no longer listening, blaze's frustration with his friend group perished. "just forget it." blaze grumbled, "I will, but I think you should leave before that ravenclaw prefect, kaizo finds you after curfew"
"right.."
"To make things clear if you do tell taufan, I moved on from halilintar, so that airhead can take my leftovers if he wants considering that's all he manages to get anyways" solar chuckled as he practically smelled the anger seeping in blaze's veins. "why solar?.. why forgive thorn for what he did but not taufan?" the slyterin was unpleasantly surprised when the tone was more confused than angered.
"I thought you told me to forget it?" solar frowned, "I did but-" a finger met his lips again, affectively shutting him up. "stay true to your words, vassenara.." solar smirked, a tad bit grateful his mean persona was back in motion. blaze hands reached in but stops, "any closer and that boyfriend of yours might think your cheating, we don't want that."
"I feel like he's the one busy cheating"
solar raised his eyebrow, but this time, blaze doesn't continued.
awkward silence seeps in, and solar doesn't know what to do.
at least he isn't bawling his eyes out right?..
