It hadn’t been that long, at least Saiki had thought so. Until he woke up to the rumbles of the Earth once more. A year flies when you have to deal with as many nuisances as he did.
But, with luck, he only had to redo this year once more for his powers to become strong enough to stop the volcano.
And yet, as he came back that night to a calendar from a year ago once more, he curled into his bed.
He couldn’t tell anyone that he failed. He could only suffer in silence, crying into the dark.
