Work Text:

Brian and Justin were sitting once again on the floor, surrounded by millions of papers, trying to choose the perfect woman to carry their baby. They never thought that it would be so difficult to choose one. They ended up with a few candidates, but still… they were hesitating to make the final decision.

“You know, there is always the choice to not do it eventually,” Brian said and Justin glared at him.

“Come on, we’ve come so far! If I managed to convince you about having a baby, then we can definitely choose a surrogate. Right?”

“Do you really trust anyone of these women? And how on earth can we be sure they are not lying on their bios?”

“We can’t…but what else can we do?”

“We can still ask Daphne…”

“No!” Justin protested. “She just gave birth to Luke. We can’t ask her to get pregnant again.”

“We can…in a couple of years.”

“Ha ha...very funny!”

“Why not? We are not in a rush.”

“Yes, we are! You are not on your twenties anymore…”

“HEY!”

“…so, the sooner the better.”

“If you want to live to raise your baby, don’t even dare to mention my age again!”

Justin couldn’t help but laugh. Teasing Brian about his age never got old. No pun intended. Of course they could wait a couple of years. But, since the moment Brian had agreed for them to have a baby together, Justin was always afraid that he would change his mind. So, there was no way to offer him the opportunity to have second thoughts by giving him two more years until it happens. The knock on the door made him jump a little and turned to Brian puzzled.

“Are we expecting anyone?”

“Well...not a baby for sure," Brian said, and Justin glared at him once again. "...But whoever it is, they seem really excited to see us,” Brian added, ignoring him and got up to open the door. As soon as he did, Molly grabbed his face leaving a kiss on his cheek and then rushed into the loft shouting.

“Justin! JUSTIN! Oh, there you are!” she said when she spotted him sitting on the floor. “I need to tell you! Both of you! Brian, come over here!” she continued while taking off her jacket. Justin and Brian looked really confused. What had happened?

“Hello Molly,” Justin greeted her, not hiding his curiosity on the reason she was so excited.

“See?” Brian said. “I told you that they would be excited,” he added and sat on the couch, lighting a cigarette.

“Don’t you have to quit smoking now that you are going to have a baby in the loft?” Molly asked, already seated across them. Brian glared at her but didn’t say anything. In response, he brought his cigarette to his lips, and inhaled a big puff.

“Are you going to tell us what brings you here?” Justin asked. It was not the time to let her get into a random conversation about smoking.

“Oh yes! Of course! Well…you two have to congratulate me! I came up with the best idea ever!”

“Which is?” they both asked simultaneously.

“I found a way for your baby to be biologically related to both of you! Isn’t that awesome!?”

Brian and Justin were way more confused than before.

“What do you mean?” Justin asked. “How is this going to happen? Last time we checked, two XYs couldn’t produce a baby…”

“Of course not, dummy! But I am related to you… and I am an XX… so…” she said and waited for them to figure out where she was going. The moment they realized what she was trying to tell them, they were overwhelmed with terror.

“What? Why are you looking at me like that?” Molly continued. “Admit it, it’s brilliant!”

“It’s gross!” Justin said. Brian was still unable to talk. The idea of impregnating Justin’s sister was making him want to throw up.

“Why? Can you imagine how perfect it will be if the baby has a resemblance to both of you!? Everyone will be asking how you managed that!”

“And what makes you believe that we will want to answer such a question?”

“Oh, come on! Biologically, Brian will be the father, you will be the uncle and I…”

“…will be the mother!” Brian finished her sentence, speaking for the first time since she started explaining her brilliant idea to them.

“YES! Don’t worry though, the baby will still call me auntie!”

“You really think that’s the problem? How the baby will call you?” Brian asked.

“Don’t be so grumpy, guys! It is a brilliant idea.”

“Molly, stop,” Justin said. “This is not happening.”

“Why not?”

“Are you seriously asking this?”

“Yes! So, you are telling me that you prefer to trust a complete stranger to be the mother of your baby? With me, you won’t have any surprises. You know me, you can trust me!”

“And you call that an advantage? That’s the problem. We do know you! We do not trust you…” Justin said.

“Wow, that hurt, Justin!” she said and looked at Brian, hoping that he would support her but, no luck there.

“As I said, this is not happening. And we are not going to discuss it further.”

“Fine! Do whatever you want…” Molly was clearly really upset by now.

“That’s exactly what we’ll do,” Brian commented.

“…I can’t believe that you are throwing away such a perfect solution. I better go. I don’t want to be keeping you from your research. If the baby ends up a serial killer, it will be too late!” she said while getting up, grabbing her jacket and walking towards the door, leaving the two men still in shock.

“Promise me that we won’t discuss this ever again,” Justin said. “Can we just pretend that it never happened?”

“Fine by me. I’ve already deleted it from my brain.”

“Good,” Justin said, looking at the door where his sister had disappeared a few seconds ago.

“I have always been telling you,” Brian said, while they were eating Thai that evening.

“Telling me what?” Justin asked.

“That all the Taylors are in love with me.”

Justin laughed. “Yeah, right!”

“It’s true! Today was a proof of that!”

“All the Taylors? Even Craig?”

“Craig is the exception to the rule. But I am sure that if he was not such an asshole, he would have fallen in love with me as well.”

Justin tried to imagine his father in love with Brian and he couldn’t. Instead, he stopped eating and put his plate back on the table. His imagination was making him sick to his stomach.

“Your mom is crazy about me. She is saying that I am her favorite son in law.”

“She doesn’t have a second one, that’s why.”

“Details! And your sister. Oh well, your sister wants my sperm to have my baby…so?”

“Everyone wants your sperm to have your baby!”

“That’s true…” Brian said.

“You are such a dick.”

“That’s also true. But you love me,” he said and smirked. “Don’t worry. She is not getting my sperm. Besides, the whole idea and the reason I agreed to this, was that you would become a father.”

“Yeah…”

“Oh no, I know that look. Please don’t tell me you are thinking of it!”

“What? No, of course not. And I hope she won’t mention any of this to mom. She will kill her.”

“Maybe that’s not such a bad idea.”

“Brian!”

“What? You are complaining about her all the time!”

“That doesn’t mean I want her dead.”

“Fine, more in love Taylors for me then,” Brian said and Justin rolled his eyes.

The next morning, Justin woke up and didn’t find Brian lying by his side. He sat up and took a look around, until he spotted him sitting on the couch, working on something at his laptop. He got up and walked towards him.

“Good morning,” he said.

“Good morning, Sunshine,” Brian replied and extended his arm for Justin to come and sit next to him, which he did. He gave him a kiss and hugged him, resting his head on his shoulder.

“You know…I was thinking…”

“Always a dangerous sign…” Brian commented.

“Maybe it’s not that crazy…”

“What’s not that crazy?”

“Molly’s idea…right?” Justin asked.

“No, it’s not…” Brian said and let it sunk in.

Justin moved away from Brian’s embrace and looked at him, not sure if he meant it. His look, though, confirmed that he did. Justin took a deep breath and asked: “So…who’s gonna tell her?” and Brian raised his eyebrow.
