aeon valentine's week 2024

Summary:

day 1 (dates) - "He’s not in middle school, for god’s sake, they’re not…dates."

day 2 (polaroid) - "She nods, gazing at the photo. The similarities between young and current Leon are stark, though it’s clear from the photo he hadn’t grown into his lanky body yet."

day 3 (gift) - "He’d just been trying to do something nice, for Christ’s sakes."

day 4 (cupid) - "Ada just continues outlining his mouth, drawing a line over his pronounced cupid’s bow. It’s so cute, definitely one of his best features. She’d never say it out loud, though."

day 5 (desserts) - "Leon huffs, coming in anyway because he’s a grown man and can get crumbs on the linen if he wants to."

day 6 (kisses) - "Kissing Ada is like he’s 21 again. ... Kissing Leon is simple. Calming."

day 7 (free day/valentine) - "It’s the 14th? It’s February? He’d honestly forgotten. He’s tired."

Chapter 1: day 1 - dates

Chapter Text

Leon never quite knows what to call them.

He’s not in middle school, for god’s sake, they’re not… dates. They’re just two people in the same location, enjoying a similar activity. That’s it. Simple.

“You’re thinking too much.” She says, still looking down at the menu. She’s wearing sunglasses inside, like this is Men In Black or something. Still, Leon can’t help but find it hot instead of dorky.

“Sorry.” He says, because he never knows what to say around her.

Ada peers at him over the glasses. She always has this look in her eye like she thinks something’s funny.

Leon reaches up to fix his hair. God, he's self conscious. Why is he self conscious?

“Want to get out of here?”

The question catches him off guard. They just got here, have barely been seated for all of five minutes. Leon hasn’t even settled on a drink order.

“What?”

The corners of Ada’s lips quirk up. “I said, ‘Want to get out of here?’.” She repeats, closing the menu and placing it flat on the table.

For a moment he just stares, his brain not quite catching up with what’s happening. He’s certain she likes that part, the way she can play with him so easily.

(He doesn’t…hate it, exactly.)

“I…Sure?” Is all he gets out of his mouth before she’s standing and walking off, heels clacking on the hardwood. He scrambles to grab his coat and catch up.

“Thought you got lost back there.” She says breezily as they step out onto the street. It’s not quite nighttime, but the sun is blocked by the tall city buildings, casting long shadows over the road.

“I’m not that inept.” Leon replies, taking a chance to knock his knuckles against her hand.

She laughs softly, nudging him back. It’s cute and makes his heart skip a beat. “No, I guess not.”
