Chapter Text
It hurt.
So much.
To see himself like this, MK didn’t know what to do.
He didn’t know why he ran to his enemies.
He didn’t know what room he was in.
He barely remembered how he got there.
He knew the scent.
Sandalwood and smoke.
Why was it all around him..?
“When is the little thief going to wake up?”
“Father, don’t be hostile. He came to us for help, after all.”
“Our son is right, my love. The monkey boy came to us, the least we can do is help him.”
MK heard a scoff before he felt a hand on his forehead, and a small and pathetic whine that had to have been his. Everything hurt. So much.. It all hurt..
He heard small tuts that he recognized.. They were from Princess Iron Fan. MK managed to open his eyes, immediately regretting it from the blinding light he got directly in his face. He groaned, trying to move to cover his eyes and whining in pain when he did. Honestly, he should’ve expected that one, everything hurt already.
He heard gentle shushes from a different voice as a familiar medium brown hand with darker brown fingertips and claws covered his eyes. The touch was warm and gentle, a stark contrast from the usual warm fist that had connected with his cheek the last time they met.
“Don’t try speaking or moving yet, boy.” A rough voice said, most likely the Demon Bull King.. Even so, he was right. Everything hurt. Even his throat. It hurt to make any noise, yet it also didn’t..
MK nearly gasped when he felt a warm hand on his throat, but it hurt too much to open his mouth, so he ended up making an irritated whine, which got an amused chuckle from the bull demon who was soothing his wounds.. Wait.
Wounds.
He had gotten into a fight.
That’s why everything hurt. That’s why it hurt to speak.
He had gotten slashed across the throat.
“Relax, boy. You’ll still be able to speak once your wounds are healed.” Princess Iron Fan spoke. The mattress sank slightly from the same direction that Princess Iron Fan’s voice had come from, likely meaning that she had sat down on the bed.. Where was he? MK knew he wasn’t in the guest room he had been in before, he knew that. The bed wasn’t stiff.
Slowly, the hand over his eyes was moved. It took a minute to adjust to his surroundings, but he was able to see this time. He saw a large room, ceilings high enough to allow plenty of breathing room for even Demon Bull King. The room was big enough to fit at least 10 of his apartment in it. The walls were covered with red wallpaper with gold embellishments, and decorated with pictures, inventions, etc. He was lying on a large canopy bed with red covers and blankets, multiple pillows, and red curtains that could be drawn.
There was a workbench in one of the far corners of the room, but he didn’t pay mind to that. MK wanted to ask which room he was in, but his throat hurt way too much and he was warned not to speak...
“You’re in my son’s room, monkey.” Demon Bull King sighed, folding his arms as Red Son helped MK sit up, propping him up with pillows and a spare blanket so that MK could properly see everyone who was in the room.
MK saw Demon Bull King, Princess Iron Fan, and Red Son. Red had his hand on MK’s back, Princess Iron Fan had her hand near MK’s foot, and Demon Bull King was standing close to the bed, but not too close. Or at least, for Demon Bull King’s standards.
MK frowned, wanting to thank them for helping him despite the fact that they were technically enemies.. He looked over at Red, ignoring the slight pain it took to look over at the bull demon. He wanted to be alone in the room with Red, but he couldn’t.. Ask.
“Mother, Father, may we have a moment alone?” Red asked, placing a hand on MK’s thigh as he looked over at his parents. Ever since MK and Red became ‘allies’, Red had been much more touchy with MK. He had never really thought anything of Red’s touchiness because it was kind of comforting sometimes..
Princess Iron Fan raised an eyebrow, taking a moment before realizing what Red was requesting. She smirked and stood up, leading her husband out of the room and winking at Red before closing the door behind herself.
Red sighed, gently placing his hand on MK’s arm, raising an eyebrow in silent question of if MK wanted something. MK wanted to speak, but he only managed a whine, wanting to be held, but unable to ask for such a thing.
“Cuddles?” Red asked, noticing how MK’s eyes lit up at the single word question. He chuckled, wrapping his arms around the noodle delivery boy and pulling him close.
MK let Red put his head on his shoulder, unable to do much more since he was unable to move on his own. It still hurt, but it hurt much less when someone else was moving him instead of him trying to move himself.
“Slow and steady, MK.. Slow and steady...” Red whispered, running his hand through MK’s hair as he held the boy against himself. He was controlling his breathing, but Red was scared that MK.. wouldn’t heal.
MK had always been one to heal quickly, but Red was worried that he wouldn’t this time. It was always a worry that was in the back of his mind after the first time that Red had allied with the Monkie Kids. He had a similar worry with Mei, but it wasn’t as severe as the worry with MK.
Red gently placed MK back down, placing a small kiss to MK’s forehead before pulling the blankets over the delivery boy. He stood up, walking over to the workbench on the other side of the room as he sighed. “Good night, MK.”
