Chapter Text
Sat in his swivel chair, Michael Afton was heavily focused on something. He was precise with the small, delicate object laid on his work-desk, using the tiniest screwdriver he could find to put the disk back in place, the lamp shining down on his work also showing the sweat stuck to his forehead and how heavy his concentration truly was.
He let out a sigh of relief and scooted his chair back when he was finally finished, wiping the perspiration on his forehead away with just a swipe of his hand. Michael flicked off the light after carefully scooping up the delicate disk in his hands and walked out of his office.
Upstairs, Michael trailed through the kitchen and living room before heading to the highest level of the house, peeking into the first room on the right down the hall where the door was left wide open.
“ Hey, Bud, “ Michael said in a soothing tone, “ I fixed it. “
His little brother, Evan Afton, perked up before turning to face him, somewhat of a smile etched across what was left of his face. A quarter of it was missing, with lumps of skin missing that showed off the red muscle underneath and a couple of loose veins that had no more blood left to pump through, very little of his skull showing yet the parts that were visible having cracks in them or even bits chipped off. If the injury was just a bit lower, then the child’s left eye would be completely dangling off, as it was already very close to. It undoubtedly unnerved Michael.
The older one slowly walked into Evan’s room, the walls painted baby blue and toys scattered across the purple rug set in the midst of the wooden floor. The ten year old boy settled back on his rocking-chair by the window with FredBear swaddled closely in his arms. The curtains were closed, however, and you could barely see out of them.
“ T―Thank.. you.. “, Evan struggled to say, Michael sliding the small disk on the upper right of the child’s face, making sure it was stuck in place before letting Evan’s hair fall over the disk so it wouldn’t be seen.
And just like that, the missing part of Evan’s head faded back into place as if it was never there to begin with. Michael really didn’t want to, but he silently thanked his late father for creating such intricate technology that could easily trick the naked eye.
Michael was snapped out of his thoughts however when Evan’s tiny finger poked his shoulder, looking up and realizing that the kid’s other finger was pointing out of the now open window, highlighting the empty park that was nearby. Michael chuckled and smiled warmly, “ You wanna go now that your illusion disk is fixed? “
Evan nodded immediately and slipped out of his chair, making his way straight to the door but stopping to make sure Michael was following him.
“ Yeah, I’m coming Buddy, “ Michael murmured.
