Work Text:
Antag let out a low grumble, running his hands through his hair, trying to figure out any other possible way that he and his coworker could escape the hellish nightmare they were stuck in. But, everything he tried was unsuccessful.
Even with the scissors, it seemed pointless. All he did was make small gashes and rips in the carpet, or streaks on the walls. Nothing major.
He heard a small whimper from beside him and almost threw the scissors at the source, but quickly decided against it.
Instead, he stood up and walked over to the pathetic blonde, grabbing him by the tie and looking directly into his tired and miserable eyes.
"Quit your damn whining before I shut you up myself." He spat, to which his coworker slowly nodded in response.
Antag let out a sigh before sitting beside Coworker, staring at the beige walls he'd seen for what felt like months, wishing for the insanity to end. But of course, that wasn't an option. He'd tried that option before.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed his colleague staring at him. His head snapped to look at him, prepared to slap or shout, but instead the other spoke first.
"You've never sat beside me before…" He murmured, his chapped upper and lower lips brushing against each other as he spoke.
…?
Really? He had never sat beside him before…? Huh, weird, he'd never noticed that before.
Antag took a moment to process, before looking back at the wall.
"Yeah? Got a problem with it?" Antag said, his cruel tone remaining present as always.
"N-no, just…thought you hated me…" His coworker responded with a slightly shaky voice.
Hated him? No, he despised him.
"I do," Which was the last thing either of them said for a good few minutes, the silence seeping into each other's brains, and causing Coworker's anxiety to rise. "But the body heat is nice. Even if it's from an egotistical megalomaniac like you." Antag grumbled while tapping his fingers on the floor. He disliked having to explain himself, especially when he didn't really know why he did such a thing.
"Right." His peer nodded, before hanging his head low once more to try and avoid eye contact (both to avoid being awkward and to avoid pissing Antag off.)
Slowly, the soft humming of the yellow lights above him, and the bland walls dissolved into darkness.
Antag's eyes began to flutter open. Shit…had he fallen asleep?
He glanced at his surroundings, noticing a warm feeling around him. He looked down and witnessed two arms clutching him. Then, he looked back, and saw his coworker asleep behind him.
Antag felt repulsed. He wanted to smack the taller man and yell at him. But at the same time, he remained still. He simply observed the man as he slept, his eyes glossing over his distinct features; his messy hair, his softly closed eyes, and his prickly facial hair (Antag had refused to shave his face for him with the scissors, resulting in the hairs.)
He was able to hear the soft snores of his colleague, which he found slightly comforting, (he'd never admit though.) Antag's hand slipped up the other man's face, before he ran his fingers through his hair. A tiny smile creeped up onto Antag's face.
Although, his hand immediately moved away when he noticed Coworker stirring in his sleep. His face got a tiny bit red as he thought back on what just happened.
What the hell was wrong with him?
"Oh…hi," He heard the man in front of him say. Then, his eyes widened. "S-shit, sorry. I uhm…didn't mean to…"
"Shut up."
"I-..."
And the two went silent.
…
…
…
Antag felt his coworker trying to get up, but he quickly forced him to remain seated.
"It's fine." His tone was firm, but somewhat soft at the same time. He reached for his scissors, and opened them. Coworker flinched as he felt them against his face, but was surprised to see that Antag was actually shaving his stubble.
"You look better with a clean face." He murmured, his eyes remaining on the task at hand.
"U-uhm…thanks…?-" He was slightly cut off by Antag gripping his jaw.
"Stop moving, you'll end up with a cut."
Coworker gulped, his larynx brushing against Antag's knuckle. This caused the newbie's attention to be brought to it for a split moment, before it returned to shaving the small prickly hairs off of his peer.
Once he finished, his grip loosened on the other's jaw, and he finally pulled back.
"Much better."
His coworker blinked. Why was Antag being…nice to him? Or well, to the best of his abilities. Did he do something?
"Something wrong?" Antag asked, noticing his colleague's confused expression. This caused Coworker to quickly snap out of his daze.
"You uh…you've never offered to shave my face before. Is something wrong?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
Antag thought about it for a moment.
"It's nothing. I just felt like it."
Then, he sat back beside him.
"So, mind explaining why I woke up with your arms wrapped around me?" The intern asked slowly, trying to maintain his irritation.
"I uhm…I dunno, just…uhhh…"
His coworker had an embarrassed expression on his face. He probably didn't have an explanation (or one he wanted to tell Antag at least.)
"I…er…ahem. I just noticed you were cold…? You looked like you were shivering." He appeared to have found an excuse and just rolled with it. Antag chuckled to himself, knowing it was a lie almost immediately. He woke up sweating. He woke up like that every time.
"Right." He rolled his eyes, before leaning on the taller man. He felt a flinch, but ignored it.
The two sat there, staring once more at the scratches, marks, and tallies on the wall. Neither said a word. Just silence.
