Work Text:
Shirayuki was charming: she was lovely, sweet, glorious, kind, beautiful, marvelous, and stunning. She could light up the darkest corners of the world with her smile; her friendliness, understanding, and hard work were the main weapons by which Shirayuki could make friends with many or at least find common ground. She radiated light, she was that light; she was an angel, a beautiful angel. Zen could not take his eyes off her: he loved her with all his soul. She could relate to many people and, honestly, this pleased him on the one hand, but on the other hand, he felt disgusted when other people approached her.
Shirayuki charmed him with her bright and dazzling smile, her eyes sparkling with emeralds, and her hair a beautiful color, but that did not mean that he alone thought so. She smiled at many people and probably did not notice that she was charming those around her with her smile. How many times he had noticed it himself, it was as soon as Shirayuki simply smiled the natural smile that people around her blushed and embarrassed, some making attempts to flirt with her. Alphas followed her with long glances, their eyes blazing with the desire to get close to her. And it made him angry. It made him angry that these people were making things up, even though omega was smiling naturally and had absolutely nothing more in mind than simple respect and friendliness. He couldn't help it, the girl was a most beautiful creature, and her smile was indeed dazzling. It just annoyed him that many people really took it as flirting.
Throughout the evening, Shirayuki was approached by a big number of people. She shone so brightly; a knee-length black dress with open collarbones encircled her figure, the sleeves loosely encircling her thin arms. Her hair was loose down to her shoulder blades, her jewelry glinting in the artificial light. Zen caught himself thinking he was constantly distracted from his conversations by looking at her. He had to pull himself together; this couldn't go on like this.
Zen wanted to be close to her, but he was dragged into a cycle of conversation, and there was no way he could get even a few minutes alone with his wife. She's his wife, damn it, and everyone had so much impudence like they've forgotten who she was now. Clinging like bees. She's not sweet honey though; she's sweet only to him. Not to everyone else.
All right, he dealt with those admirers; it was enough just to hang around her nearby and glare angrily at anyone who was too suspicious. And also his status in society and a kind of power were his weapons, so some tried to keep their distance, but some had to be tolerated. Raji, for example. That was something of a headache for him. Their first meeting had been unfortunate, and he and the omega had hoped not to see him again, but things had worked out differently, and Raji and Shirayuki were now friends. It was a joy, in a way. Maybe even just a little, just a little, but he felt more annoyed at the sight of him.
He couldn't stand it, especially now, being at a private party his brother had thrown. Well, of course, Raji was here: his brother liked to tease him about it. The truth was he didn't like it. He watched his wife, who was surrounded by Raji, from afar. They were chatting merrily about something, judging by their smiles. For the whole evening, they walked together as they were stuck to each other. Raji clung to her like a leech, as if there were no other omegas who wanted to spend time with him. He did not like it very much.
"Are you tired?" he turned to her, walking over to them, finally avoiding the others after many attempts. Zen smiled wider, touching her red strands. Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at Raji; he hadn't changed his face or looked annoyed as he sipped his wine.
"Slightly, but I can make it through the rest of the evening." then she smiled her charming smile again: that smile was meant for him and him alone - no one else at this party or in this world - Zen could tell that with certainty. His heart quickened, and all the annoyance vanished. He forgot about his surroundings and was about to nuzzle into her neck when a voice sounded nearby.
"You're doing great, Shirayuki. Although I'd expect fewer people to approach you." oh, yes, he's still here. Raji said it like it was nothing. Zen shook a little, though, because he was... Addressing her as "you"? Like, informally? Without “dono” or “san”? He tensed slightly and looked at him with slightly squinted eyes, and then at Shirayuki. Maybe he's imagining it all, yes, that's right, he just heard it wrong.
"I was hoping for that too, honestly, but you helped me a lot." the girl smiled again, quite gently and in a friendly way. Zen looked at her with dazed eyes. Shirayuki addressed him informally as well! Something wasn't right here, the alcohol in his organism must have already started to take effect. It's definitely all in his mind. He rubbed his forehead, frowning. He wanted so badly to go home, hug his wife tightly, and cuddle in bed until morning without letting her out of his arms. "Zen, are you alright? You look a little cranky."
He looked at her, realizing he had been standing there with a frown on his brow the whole time, and immediately tried to relax slightly.
"It's okay. I'm just a little tired." Shirayuki gave him a concerned look in response and looked at Raji and then back at him.
"Raji, I think my husband wants to talk to me about something. I'm sorry to leave you here alone, but we'll be right back." she cast a glance at Raji, but he didn't look annoyed or hurt at all. Zen looked at her with a confused look, feeling how she squeezed his hand.
"No problem, you don't have to worry about that." he waved his hand carelessly, indicating that everything was fine. Shirayuki immediately dragged Zen to the other side, where there were small enclosed rooms with sofas that were hidden by long, thick blue curtains.
After hiding from everyone's eyes, Shirayuki made sure there was no one around, and then, sighing, she turned to Zen. She pressed hard against his chest, placing his arms around her waist: the omega felt the alpha sigh sharply as she pressed even tighter against him; her glossy lips opened slightly, and Zen's cheeks immediately burned with blush, and his breathing hitched as if suddenly all the air had been pumped out of his lungs. He shifted his gaze to the side, trying not to stare at her exposed breasts and soft, delicate skin, trying to hide his embarrassment. The girl ran her hand over his chest, slowly, relaxed, as if she was trying to delay the moment.
"Zen, what's wrong with you? You've been walking around a little cranky all time." her voice was quiet, so gentle, so caring, she was worried about him. Her eyes radiated concern, and suddenly there was an unpleasant lump of guilt. Zen bit his lip slightly, still not looking at her. "You know you can tell me anything, right?"
She cared for him again, she had always been honest and sincere to him, and he was making her worry again. What a fool you were, Zen Wistalia! He's not a little child, after all.
Zen shifted his gaze to the omega and immediately felt the touch of her hand on his cheek. She stroked gently as if to soothe him, and it always worked. He turned his head slightly to leave a light kiss.
"I just... You're incredibly beautiful, Shirayuki. I trust you, and my love for you is boundless, but the people around you... They look at you with long stares and long sighs without any shame or conscience. Raji has been hanging around you all day, you know we don't really get along, but I don't mind your friendship with him at all, and I know you're just friends, and I have no right to limit you. I just..."
Shirayuki looked at him with rounded eyes and then tilted his head so they could bump their foreheads. She knew how he felt about it, but the omega had never given a reason. Apparently, tonight was really too much for him. How could she have missed it and not realized what the object of his irritation was.
"I'm jealous." Zen finally honestly admitted. He had to be open and sincere with her. "It's not your fault, absolutely not. It's just that they're looking at you with bad intentions, and it's obvious in their eyes that they want to get close to you. You're amazing, it's impossible not to want to be friends with you, but these people clearly have bigger dreams and..."
"There's nothing wrong with wanting to protect me, Zen." Shirayuki touched his lips with her fingers. "If it wasn't for you, things might have been different. I married you and I confessed my feelings to you, no one else. You're my family now, my husband, my home."
Her voice was so melodious, so gentle, her pheromones notably soothing him. Zen gazed into his beloved emerald eyes, and before he knew it, he leaned forward, touching her lips. He immediately began kissing her assertively, holding her tightly by the waist with one hand, dipping his other hand into her red hair. Suddenly it felt stuffy, the alpha was sure that their pheromones had mingled with each other and spread beyond this room, but he didn't care. Absolutely didn't care, she was his wife, after all, they were allowed anything. And who would dare interrupt them?
Pulling away, Zen looked at her with flushed cheeks: her cheeks had fused with the color of her hair, she was breathing heavily, and her bright eyes had grown darker. The girl's hair was mussed, her lipstick slightly worn off, and her lips were slightly bitten, but she didn't care. Zen swallowed hard; Shirayuki looked so beautiful, so attractive... After a few seconds, they merged into a kiss again, the alpha wasn't about to let the omega go so quickly. He needed to enjoy her to the fullest.
Meanwhile, Raji was hanging around from one interlocutor to another. He was approached by a couple of alphas who were looking around as if they were trying to find someone. And he knew exactly who they were looking for.
"Excuse us, Raji-sama, have you by any chance seen Shirayuki-sama? She was right next to you all this time." said one man, the others looked at him expectantly. Raji slightly squinted his eyes. He examined the man from head to toe and then took a sip of wine.
"I don't know where she is now; she left with her husband," he replied in a neutral voice. The man and the men behind him were saddened. This could not help but escape his gaze, "You have to stay away from her if you don't want to get into trouble."
"What do you mean by that?" another man raised his voice. Raji only rolled his eyes at his question. He was about to quip when he heard a voice ringing out.
"Raji, I'm sorry to have left you behind for so long."
"It's all right." he turned to her, smiling naturally, as he immediately froze. By Goodness, he'd certainly expected them to be out there kissing, but for it to be that obvious... Shirayuki looked her usual self, her hair was in fine condition, but her lips, despite the amount of lipstick, were still visible as bitten, and also their pheromones, which were mingled with each other, were very strongly felt around the two of them. Zen's pheromones stood out very strongly, causing Raji to pinch his nose slightly. The other alphas, as soon as they inhaled, immediately took a step back, pinching their noses and trying to hide their excitement.
"Is something wrong?" Shirayuki asked in an innocent voice as if she didn't know what was wrong. Zen was standing beside her, wrapping his arms around her waist; his smile was ordinary, but his eyes expressed something else, so many feelings, not good feelings at all.
"No, nothing like that. They just wanted to talk to you." Raji pointed at the group. Shirayuki gave them her natural smile, but Zen was clearly trying to squeeze out a natural smile. The men trembled slightly as they saw the alpha's dark blue eyes and felt the atmosphere around him begin to heat up.
"N-nothing of the sort, we'll leave you to it." one of them took a step back. "We're sorry to have bothered you."
After apologizing, the group left immediately. Zen finally sighed in relief and pulled Shirayuki to him. The girl left a quick kiss on his cheek, smiling softly. He gave her the same soft smile and left the same quick kiss on her cheek. Raji watched the whole thing with a neutral face, though he was very uncomfortable and he was ready to turn around 180 degrees.
"I understand that you two love each other terribly much and that you recently had a wedding and would like to spend more time together as newlyweds, but you're not alone here, lovebirds." he took a sip, looking at the two of them. Shirayuki's cheeks flushed immediately, but Zen gave him a look that he could tell wasn't happy at all for interrupting them. Excuse me, you were in a public place, by the way!
"Sorry for that," Shirayuki muttered embarrassedly, clenching her fists and putting her head down. Zen put his hand on the red top of her head.
"You guys..." whispered Raji as he examined them again from head to toe. He noticed some other details but decided to ignore them. He had absolutely no need to know what they were doing there. That's for sure. "Zen-dono, I'm no match for you."
"What?" Zen looked at him with a confused look, as did Shirayuki.
"I'm not going to take her away from you, we're just friends." Zen blushed slightly, realizing that he was too obvious about this. He had already opened his mouth, about to explain himself, but Raji was faster. "There's no need to say anything, you've been staring at me the whole evening, so I'd better leave you two alone."
At these words, Raji left, waving goodbye. Zen stared dumbfoundedly in his wake, while Shirayuki laughed in her hand at the look on his face, mentally thanking Raji for his understanding. How jealous Zen was, after all, but it's not a problem, in principle. He gave her a slightly offended look, pouting his lips. The girl smiled, snuggling closer to him. The guests still hadn't left, so she needed to pull herself together, though it was unlikely that Zen would let her go now. But it was fine, she was enjoying it.
