The beautiful sunlight seemed to taunt the black-clad crowds gathered around a fresh burial pit. The sun was shining brightly, as if welcoming an angel back to the skies. All who knew her on earth were saddened by her passing. A red-haired child hugged his grieving father and continued to say words of consolation to him.
“It is okay, Daddy… I am here…”
Cale refused to let go of his grip, even as his father's hug tightened and made him unable to breathe. His little hands moved up and down the elder man's back. The focus of his gaze remained fixed on the casket as it was slowly lowered. Carrying the remains of one of the most important individuals in his life. There will no longer be a warm smile to greet him. He will no longer be able to hear his mother call his name. Cale bit his lip, suppressing the sob that was about to escape. His right hand raised, vigorously brushing away the tears that were about to fall. He had to be strong, his father needed him.
His heartbeat raced as the soil began to drop, concealing Jour Thames' resting place for the last time. Flowers began to appear on the tombstone one by one, the only sign that his mother was resting there.
‘Please, Mom… Don’t go…‘
His voice could no longer reach his mother. He obviously didn’t want to cry, but he couldn’t help bursting out into tears. He would never be able to see his mother again. Cale’s tears fell uncontrollably.
