Chapter 1: New Found Friendship

Chapter Text

Mikalea, a vampire, was forced to go to a high school in human territory. Hard to believe that vampires were forced into hiding considering they're seven times stronger than the average man. Still, humans had successfully made their weapon of taboo and almost won the war. Of course, the vampires could've ended the world by now to get back at humanity since it hadn't happened yet for some unknown reason.

Mikaela maintained a quick paste as he walked to the destination that Krul tepes, the former queen of japan, third progenitor, and Mikaela's current caregiver had given to him.

The wind was low, and the scenery looked like as if the world hadn't gone to the deepest depths of the universe.

Mikaela's morning stroll to his destination was quite bland till his device began to buzz.

"Hello?" Mikaela answered, slowing down.

"Mika, are you at the school yet?" The person on the other end questioned.

"Not yet, Krul. I believe I'm close to it by now." Mikaela said formally. It wasn't like Krul was the queen anymore, so why did he act like she still was?

"Good," Krul responded back. "Remember, this isn't a mission. I simply expect you getting basic education for once."

Once, is a key word. Mikaela had almost forgotten he had spent most of his time either in the vampire city, or an orphanage because his delusional of parents throw him out a car. Took a long time for Krul to adopt and find him, even so, Mikaela barely remembers a thing about that adoption center. Either burned down or still running it's immoral shenanigans.

"Okay, I see the school now. Talk to you later." Mikaela said before he hung up. Hopefully Krul wouldn't scold him for the disrespect.

Mikaela approached the school and went through the gates. Scanning the inside of the school at first glance, seemed completely normal just like the aera outside of it. to the right was a from afar clock that had been blocked up in metal bars. It read 8:05.

He was ten minutes early, atleast he had time to mentally prepare himself.

Maybe he should stop blocking the entrance incase someone runs him over.

Mikaela pulled out his phone and searched for the email Krul had sent him about his intel for the mission school year. He still hadn't exactly become used to carrying a phone, but he should get accustomed to it since most humans latched onto their phones more than their life line.

"Locker number: 51, Classes..." Mikaela scrolled down as he memorized these vital things. "Home room... P.E... Mathematics... Japanese... social studies... science and music..." Mikaela mumbled as he subconsciously appeared infront of his locker.

Mikaela didn't have much with him, just a few note books and regular books plus a violin Krul makes his carrying around. Also- his headphones.

Mikaela shoved all his belongings into the small locker as he thought more about what to do afterwards, the question was answered by the bell ringing.

Maybe I should start heading to homeroom...

"Everyone, let's welcome our new student." The teacher said, holding her hand out to Mikaela's entrance as if we was some inhuman specimen.

Mikaeka stepped into the homeroom- room? He didn't really know how school worked considering he was locked up underground for eight years.

Mikaela faced the crowd, preparing himself mentally. "Hi, I'm Mikaela Shindo. Nice to meet you all." He smiled together with a small bow, in a very fake manner.

He could catch a look at the reactions of his soon classmates, most of them seemed unenthusiastic (Thankfully) or a little shocked. He didn't forget his contacts did he? Was his ears sticking out?

To his relief, the teacher dismissed him. "Now, go sit wherever you like. Do know that cluster of seats are occupied by a few other late ones ." The teacher muttered in an irritanted tone.

Mikaela made his way to  the side of the classroom, his seat being near a window. Since his window on the side was a little open, he had plenty of fresh air. Wasn't like he needed it though, although he wasn't going to complain about it one bit.

Few minutes passed after the late bell and more students arrived, presumably, "the late ones"

No one on time spoke a word and the only noise were the brids outdoors possibly arguing about who gets custody over the new born chicks who hatched from their shells and the whining of "the late ones"

"Hey- I am not a loner!" A boy with black hair screeched.

"Ah... Yuu-san... You will be if you keep shouting at an innocent girl like me~" A girl with lilac hair teased as she hurried to an empty seat.

Three other students followed behid, surprisingly only two of the group of five had a natural hair color. Does vibrate blond hair count as dyed or could one be born like that?

The boy who crated a ruckus sat down as he groaned in frustration and defeat, he happened to sit right to Mikaela. Mikaela aswell felt someone from the same direction examining him. Very closely. The other four too sat down near by the raven haired boy.

The teacher sat up, looking a bit miserable, and then quickly marked attendance.

The teacher got up, students not caring one bit, yet the teacher still blabbed about the school basic, grades, expectations, and other stuff.

Even with Mikaela listening to the teacher the best he can, he still felt like he was being watched. The entire lecture.

After the teacher finshed talking and went back to her computer. Afterwards, the class started to make a bit of noise. Due to Mikaela's vampire senses, it was like seven times worse compared to his classmates, making Mikaela pull out his headphones, press against his ears,  and finally laid his head down onto the wooden desk in a "do not disturb way"

Mikaela was admiring the outside unbothered with his headphones blasting music. Yet one conversation caught his attention.

"What? Are you serious? Not only is it impossible, but how can you tell?" A tall male with abnormally vibrant pink hair questioned.

"Just- Just trust me! I know it! I just do." another boy pincked.

Another classmate sighed, "Well if Yu thinks so, theres no stopping him..."

Footsteps approached Mikaela.

"Hi, are you new?" It was the boy who was just screaming eight in the morning. "I haven't seen you around before. I can give you a school tour if you want..." his face flustered.

Mikaela turned his head with a blank expression. "l should be able to locate my classes myself."

Yu looked a little taken back by his response, or maybe what Mikaela had been wearing considering he had faint eyeshadow that Krul made him wear to "bland in"

"Well, we happen to have all the same classes by coincidence, so we'll be going the same way either." Yu said as he pointed to Mikaela's phone that still had the email from Krul open. Thankfully, nothing suspicious on it.

"I'll be fine." He wasn't completely sure about that.

Yu was going to insist more, but the bell for the first class of the day had rang.

Mikaela had arrived to P.E on time no problem without the help of Yu.

No one was in a specific aera, they were just huddled around like baby penguins in the dead of winter.

The teacher was staring at a clipboard while the class was staring at the teacher and side glances at Mikaela.

The teacher took his eyes off his clipboard to speak. "Do whatever you kids want, I have a meeting." The P.E teacher announced before rushing off to who knows where.

The class too ran to wherever they wanted. Few others even skipped class infront of the teacher.

Sheesh no need for introducing himself? Today was a great day.

Maybe Mika should go do something too. Perhaps preserve energy by walking? Mikaela would go do that till someone rudely interrupted his train of thought.

"So... Mika, what are you going to do while the teacher is busy?"

Yu was in another of Mikaela's classes.

"How do you know my name?" Mikaela said as he narrowed his eyes.

Yu palced his arms behind his back. "No ressonnnnn........" Yu came closer to Mika. "Do you wanna play volleyball with me to pass the time?"

"I'm-" Mikaela was off by Yu gripping his hand and dragging him to a near by volleyball court.

Mikaela was severely perplexed to Yu's sudden behavior considering he was clearly stuttering at their first meeting, but humans in general were strange, always having their greed and emotions control them.

"Okay! I'm serving the ball now!" Yu yelled. Wasn't like Yu needed to though since Mikaela could hear him even if he was whispering. Of course, Yu didn't know that, he shouldn't .

Yu served the ball and Mikaela quickly hit the ball back without hindering in any movement. The ball passed the net, and... It was in. The ball bounced on the uneven concrete with Yu later catching the ball. He lightly sighed perhaps in exhaustion or disappointment.

They continued doing a few more rounds of volleyball till Yu broke the silence. "You know, I was never really was good at sports where you gotta hit stuff."

"I can tell."

"Meanie," Yu mumbled before serving the ball and making sure to make it hit directly square on Mikaela's head.

The two played volleyball till it was time to put everything away, it was a bit exhausting for Mikaela due to him losing a bit of energy. How inconvenient for him having P.E first period.

Mikaela could lose his cool on a typical day where the teacher actually taught...

Nonetheless, Mikaela went to the male locker room to get dressed. He did so and was leaving to go on his way till that voice yelled his name again."Mika!~" The boy shouted as he jumped on top of Mikaela. "Jeez you're strong." Yu noted to himself as he got off of Mikaela, who wasn't pleased with Yu's sudden appearance.

Someone please kill me...

Mika was already spent enough, he shouldn't spend more on a random boy he met not even two hours agos. "What do you what now..."

"Just wondering if you wanna be my friend."

"Do I even have a choice?" Yu grinned at Mikaela and once again, dragged him along to do another meaningless task.
