Work Text:
Well, this fucking sucked. The last thing Katsuki wanted was to go out, and especially not today. Not that was he was annoyed or anything, he just thought the whole holiday was stupid in itself. Valentines' day, the day everyone went crazy with giving out roses, chocolates and shit, and guess what, if you didn't get shit, you were deemed a lonely loser. It didn't make sense to him; loves a word he's always hated anyways. His original plan was to nap, train, study, or do like, anything productive without that much effort but noooooo, like always, shitty hair, pinky, ears and dunce face practically dragged him places, and this time it was to an arcade.
Katsuki sighed as he tossed his phone on his bed, going over to his closet to get a change of clothes. He had just gotten off the phone after an hour of them begging him to go to an arcade with them, he eventually gave in since His parents had been insufferable today... and he really wanted to avoid them even trying to ask about a "Valintine". He changed and went downstairs, going to the door, stuffing his phone in his back pocket, leaning down to put his shoes on. His mom, of course saw him; she smirked and placed her magazine down.
Mitsuki: "oh, got something special to do dear, maybe a date perhaps-?"
Katsuki cut her off and glanced over to her, he did not want that conversation to start.
Katsuki: "No. I'm just going to hang out with some friends."
That really triggered a smile from both his stupid parents. His mother nodded;
Mitsuki: "whatever you say~"
Katsuki rolled his eyes, he wasn't in the mood to entertain his mother jokes
Katsuki: "I'll be back later."
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
Katsuki took the bus to the arcade, he pulled out his phone and texted the stupid group chat that pinky had made that just became a hole for memes and jokes, Katsuki didn't mind it all too much though.
(3:49 PM) Katsuki: Omw
After starring at his phone for about 6 seconds and not getting a response, he assumed they were already at the arcade and wasting money playing games. He pulled out his earbuds from his pocket, plugging them in and playing music, trying to ignore the fact the dude next to him smelt like he hadn't showered in a week leaving him wondering why didn't he just walk. It was about 25 minutes later when he arrived at the stupid arcade, it was decent sized, but the thing that got him was that irked him was that nobody had even answered him yet. Rude fucks. He texted as he walked into the arcade, the bright neon lights causing him to groan.
(4:14 PM) Katsuki: ''are you idiots here?"
.
.
.
No response.
He groaned and shoved his phone back on his pocket, walking over to the card machine, as he stopped, he realized his shoelaces were untied, he would have tied them if not for the fact he wanted to hurry up and find the dumbasses who even invited him, so he made a mental note to just do it later. He paid, the machine giving him a playing card. He checked his phone for the umpteenth fucking time and still no response. Those idiots really wanted him to be ticked off, huh? He walked around the arcade trying to find them, swearing to himself the moment he saw them he would give them a mouthful of not so nice things. After 5 minuets of walking around, it dawned upon him, causing him to stop in his tracks.
Katsuki: "Oh, you're fucking with me right now."
They weren't there. They tricked him, and he fell for it, like a complete fool. He immediately pulled out his phone, typing so hard he was surprised the screen didn't break.
(4:18 PM) Katsuki: ARE YOU guys' SRS RN?
(4:19 PM) Katsuki: DID U IDIOTS TRICK ME
(4:19 PM) Katsuki: WHENI FCKING FIND U GUYS IM GOING TO KILL U ALL WTF!!!!!!
(4:19 PM) Katsuki: U GUYS SENT ME TO THIS STUPID STUDID IDIOTIC ARCADE ALON EHAT AM I SUPPOSD TO DO NOW?!!
He was typing so fast he didn't bother to spell check; he was fuming right now. He sent a spew of angry messages as he prepared to walk out, He glanced up from his phone and back down, all the neon lights and red, pink, white and green hearts were making him sick anyway-
wait, Green? what?
Katsuki Look up to see the one and only nerd, Izuku fucking Midoriya. He had to hide. Now. For the first time in his life, Katsuki panicked, quickly walking to behind a wall. He finally understood what was going on. Now, Katsuki wasn't going to lie, he was avoiding the nerd, had been for a while. One might think it was due to hating him and wanting him out his life, but it was the total opposant. After years of knowing the nerd, fighting, talking and working things out, he realized that he, Katsuki Bakugo, might, maybe, possibly, have a crush on Izuku Midoriya; and so why confess when he can just push all his feelings into a bottle and call it a day.
Now he wasn't sure how or who even knew, but never in a million year had he ever expected them to send him on a blind date. What he did know what that someone was going to get their ass kicked. Katsuki peaked from behind the wall, Izuku was busy looking around, maybe for the supposed 'friends' that were supposed to be there with them. Katsuki felt his heart rate spike up, God how he hated that feeling. Izuku seemed equally confused, being busy on his phone texting. Katsuki took it as a chance to run. He started speedwalking towards the exit-
Katsuki: "SHIT!-"
Katsuki tripped, over his shoelace, like a dumbass. What the fuck was wrong with him today? He had, unfortunately, caught the attention of people, his heart practically dropped to his ass as he heard a lovely little nerdy voice exclaim:
Izuku:"oh, Kacchan!"
Katsuki:'fuck..."
Katsuki glanced behind him and back to his phone and playing card on the floor, picking up the items, clutching them in his hand. Izuku smiled and held out a hand to Katsuki.
Izuku: "are you ok? are you hurt?"
Katsuki got a sense of Deja vu, not sure why though, Katsuki looked up, Izuku had such a pitying look, it gave him such a warm feeling in his stomach, which is weird because he remembered it used to make it mad. It was moments like these where he could never figure out why he treated Izuku as harshly as he did through their middle school years, he was glad they grew past that.
He wanted to take Izuku's hand but was scared to, it was so simple, just take the dudes hand, but before he could even react properly, he sighed and got up on his own, glaring at Izuku. He was just..so nice. Something about it pissed Katsuki off. Why did he have to love him. Izuku didn't seem surprised as he pulled his hand back, going back to talking, a sense of nervousness in his voice.
Izuku: "Are you here to meet up with Ashido, Kirishima, Kaminari and Jiro too? ...they asked me to come but i don't see them-"
Katsuki sighed, he really didn't want to tell the nerd the real reason they were there together, he knew the idiot would freak the fuck out and to be honest, things were already awkward between them, no one said anything, in front of them at least, but everyone felt it.
Katsuki: "They went home. Something came up and so they left... I was just about leave too."
Izuku seemed surprised but nodded
Izuku: "Oh, that's uh...weird."
".."
The two idiots stood there for a few seconds saying nothing before Izuku glanced at the card at Katsuki's hand
Izuku: "Do you still have credits on there?"
Katsuki wanted to get out of there as fast of possible, but he wasn't one to lie.
Katsuki: "Yeah. what's it to you?"
Izuku's face practically lit up and Katsuki swore he was almost blinded.
Izuku: "Do you uh- wanna play games with me then? I saw they had Plus Ultra Ultimate 2 over in the back and it's kind of crazy because i can like barely to find it and-"
Katsuki blinked. You can't be fucking serious. The nerd kept rambling about the games and useless information, and Katsuki loved it. How could he just get lost on one topic and not get tired of it? He hated how he loved it. He went over his options in his head, He could either;
A. Turn down this opportunity to go on a date prove he's better at arcade games and go home to skip this shitty holiday.
B. go on a date with Izuku on Valentine's Day Prove he's better at arcade games than the shitty nerd.
This is Katsuki Bakugo we're talking about.
Katsuki: Nerd.
Izuku Huh? what?
Katsuki: I'll play some games with you, just be quite for the love of God.
Izuku almost seemed shocked Katsuki even said yes, it reminded him of when they were kids. Izuku looked around and pointed to one of the games, it was a shooting game, Katsuki shrugged and acceptance and before Katsuki knew it, he was being called over all around the arcade, playing game and competing competitively with Izuku in games, forgetting all about the fact he had been set up by his idiot friends, but deep down he was a bit thankful, and in all honesty, he loved seeing Izuku's competitive smile whenever Katsuki claimed he could get a higher level than him in something, However the nerd would just not stop talking, it was almost laughable how he went on and on and on about the games and cheat codes and shit Katsuki had no idea how Izuku even knew about.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
Katsuki was enjoying this is all honesty, He almost forgot how serious Izuku was when it came to games and the face Izuku made when he lost was priceless, but of fucking course, nothing lasts forever. Katsuki had felt his phone buzzing and checked the messages, his look turning to a scowl. Izuku immediately knew what it meant as he placed the playing card down.
Izuku: "Already Kacchan??"
Katsuki scoffed in annoyance and nodded slightly, putting his phone away.
Katsuki: Old hag wants me home.
Izuku Didn't want him to go but understood, he looked around the arcade and pointed to the photo booth, raising an eyebrow. Katsuki groaned.
Katsuki: "isn't that a bit cliché?"
Izuku: "Please Kacchan!"
Katsuki groaned, he hated having his picture taken, but it was with Izuku so what the fuck ever. He went into the booth with the two of them putting 2 quarters in and fighting over who would put the 5th quarter in. Izuku won. Izuku smiled for all the photos and noticed Katsuki has just simply given a peace sign. Izuku sighed and muttered to him;
Izuku: "Kacchan, can you please smile"
Katsuki: "I don't fucking smile."
Izuku: "Stop being an edge-lord"
Katsuki: 'Don't call me that shit"
Izuku: "Please please please please"
Katsuki: "shut the fuck up the cameras about to go off"
Izuku turned to face him, ignoring Katsuki's request.
Izuku: "Please please please-"
Izuku was immediately stopped as he felt Katsuki cup his cheek, Katsuki's lips pressing up against Izuku's. The breath was knocked out of him. He didn't want to let the moment go. He just couldn't. He leaned into the kiss, closing his eyes, ignoring the sound of the photo booth taking the picture. Thier lips departed, and Katsuki looked away to hide his blush, he awkwardly took his copy of the picture and got up. Katsuki got out the photo booth, causing Izuku to snap back to reality. Katsuki was leaving. He couldn't, oh god no not now, he didn't want him to go. Izuku wasn't even sure if he was thinking. His body just... moved on its own and before Katsuki could walk away, Izuku had jumped out of the photo booth and grabbed onto Katsuki's wrist. Katsuki was caught off guard as he turned to see what Izuku wanted. Izuku could barely manage to get words out.
Izuku: "I- I uh- do you- i mean uh...-"
Katsuki: "Nerd, what? -"
Izuku: "Do you want me to walk you home?!"
Izuku had yelled it a bit, causing a few people to glance over. Izuku retracted his hand, getting out the photo booth fully, looking down awkwardly. Katsuki couldn't believe what he was seeing, he tried to act as he wasn't nervous too as he gave a dry chuckle.
Katsuki: "I'm taking the bus actually-"
Izuku: "W-well then like to the bus stop.. maybe? Please...? I-...want to spend more time with you. I don't want this day to end."
Katsuki decided to take the chance, because in truth, he didn't want this to end either, even if it meant his old hag was right about what the was doing today. After a moment of thinking, he motioned his hand for Izuku to follow and started walking out Ignoring the butterflies in his stomach. Izuku started walking along with him, smiling nervously. They were both silent as they walked to the bus stop, even as they sat next to each other on the bus they didn't say a word. They both ended up getting off about 2 blocks away from Katsuki's home, the awkward feeling still lingering. They gave a quiet wave as they started to walk their separate way but before Katsuki could, he felt a small tap on his shoulder. He turned around to be met with Izuku's lips giving him a quick kiss before scurrying in off. Katsuki blinked; he was the one caught off guard now. Wow. He couldn't stop laughing as he was filled with this warm fuzzy feeling that made him want to hold Izuku's hand like some lovesick puppy. He started walking home, looking back at the photos from the photo booth.
Maybe this holiday wasn't so stupid after all?
His idiot friends still were going to get curse the fuck out the moment he saw them tomorrow.
