It had been a long time since you felt this level of exhaustion and drain in use of your magic. Being S-Class said much of your power and capabilities. But it didn’t change the inevitable to have difficulties and weaknesses like all humans do.
You weren’t seriously injured, though you did wobble a bit as you walked with some mild scratches. Defeating mages of dark guilds took longer than you expected, especially when a number of them had actual skill than they let on.
Some panting escaped you as you gazed upon your field partner in front of you several feet away. Having always hidden his face, you could never quite tell what he was thinking. After spending enough time together, the man had finally indulged in showing his true visage to you in the promise and security of trust.
Watching you for a moment, Mystogan came in large steps to reach you. Helping in contrast to your slower pace. He was also only mildly roughed up with his layers of clothing. But fine nonetheless.
When he finally stood in front of you, the quiet man had his hands to gently hold your arms in support. You could finally see his eyes, revealing gaze of worry behind blue irises.
Looking over you as a checkup, Mystogan then finally spoke, “Are you all right..?”
Seeing his concern, you gave a small smile. “Yes, kind of tired but I’m fine.”
He gave you a once over to see if you weren’t brushing it off before accepting your answer. “We’re done here now, so we should go back to our spot for you to rest, then we’ll meet the client.”
“I really don’t need—”
He cut you off with a gentle sternness of your name.
“It won’t hurt to take a break.” said Mystogan, letting down his disguise. “Half an hour. Okay?” He rested a hand against your cheek, wiping over a speck of dust away. The other reaching down to squeeze your hand.
Observing the sincerity of his face, you couldn’t help yourself to argue with him. Mystogan was always reasonable, he made good decisions.
Your guildmate’s blue eyes were always warm and gentle, what he lacked in communication he made up for in dependability. You never had to worry about Mystogan watching your back.
“Okay, Myst.” you sighed. “Have it your way.” leaning into his hand, enjoying his touch. After spending so much time together, the mysterious blue haired man had let some walls down to give these small gestures of touch, even if he still wasn’t very verbal.
A small smile escaped Mystogan’s lips, rubbing a thumb over your cheek again. “Good. Then let’s go back.”
