Work Text:
As Hermione is sorting through a pile of reports from the Ministry. Her office door swings open to reveal Pansy with a smug look. She’s holding the Daily Prophet in her hand.
“Hermione, you should have a look at this,” Pansy says, as she hands Hermione the article.
“Scandal of the Century, the supposed to be Lady Malfoy spotted mingling with a brunette at Diagon Alley”
Hermione looks up at Pansy with confusion then continues reading. As she skims over the article her eyes glance at a bolded section. Her eyes widen as she looks up at Pansy in shock.
“Well, that marriage ended quickly,” Hermione says, looking back at the article.
“I know right, at least now you have a chance with him,” Pansy remarks, “Oh maybe you can ask him to be your Valentines.”
Hermione glares at Pansy then chucks the Prophet onto her desk and gets up to shove Pansy out the door. But before she does anything Pansy says.
“Mione, you know I am only teasing you.”
Hermione turns around and sits back on her chair. She grabs her tea and sips it, ignoring Pansy who is making kissing sounds around her. Pansy then walks over to the door and as she turns the handle, Pansy looks over her shoulder and gives Hermione a smirk.
“I’m going to floo call Ginny and Luna, I think they will love to hear this.”
Pansy leaves the room, while Hermione shakes her head in frustration. She gets up from her chair and walks over to a stack of pictures on her bookshelf. The photos were mainly of her group which consisted of people from all four Hogwarts houses, and others were just photos of her and Draco hanging out in different places. As Hermione gazes over the photos, her study door opens with a bang and her three closest friends pile into the room with excitement all over their faces.
“Girl, Pansy just told us everything and we think you should send him something for Valentines as he will most likely be alone,” Ginny says really fast.
“Alright fine what did you three have in mind,” Hermione responds slightly irritated, “Okay, Pansy, as you've known Draco the longest, do you have any ideas?
“Well, from what I know he likes Sugar Quills, Chocolate Frogs, any Honeydukes Chocolate and Chocolate Frogs,”
“Perfect, I’ll go and get them and send them to him on Valentines,” Hermione says.
“Why don’t you send it to him tomorrow, so then he can figure out who sent them on Valentine's Day as it will only be the next day, which would make it more exciting,” Ginny recommends, whilst Luna and Pansy nod in agreement.
Hermione hesitates for a second before accepting the girls’ idea. The four of them get into planning. They come to a decision that Hermione will drop the gift off at his office on her way to work with a note.

The following day
As Draco opens his office door the first thing his eyes look at is the basket of sweets sitting in the centre of his desk. Draco places his briefcase down onto the floor and walks over to examine the gift. In the centre of the gift was a letter addressed for him. Draco grabs the letter, opens it and reads it.
Dear Draco,
After seeing that you ended the marriage agreement with Astoria Greengrass, I thought you might want something to cheer you up as this happened close to Valentine’s Day. I’ve been wanting to tell you this for a while, but after the war when we were classmates once again, I somehow gained a crush that has turned into something else. Every time I look at you, I wish you were mine. Every time I see you, I wish I am the one to make you smile. Every time I spot you at work, I wish I’m the one you would walk out of the ministry holding hands with. Happy Valentine’s Day, Draco.
Sincerely,
Your Secret Admirer
Draco rereads the letter again, places it on his desk, then walks outside to his secretary.
“Tracy, send a message to Pansy telling her to come over to my office immediately,” Draco says from the doorway, then walks back into his office.
He goes and sits in his chair whilst examining the gift basket. The gift is decorated with daffodils and roses. It also has a small assortment of sweets. As Draco is about to grab a sugar quill, he hears a knock at his door.
“Come in,” he says as he reaches for the letter instead.
Pansy walks into his office, with a confused look on her face. She goes and sits in the chair opposite him.
“Tracy called saying you wanted to speak to me,” Pansy says.
“Do you know who sent me this? Draco questions, as he hands Pansy the letter and points at the basket.
Pansy just shrugs in response.
“Out of anyone in our group, you’re the only person who knows what sort of sweets I like,” He says.
“Anyone who knows you well, has probably learned what sort of sweets you like,” Pansy says back with a smirk.
“Then explain the daffodils, you’re the only person who knows daffodils are my favourite,” Draco mentions.
Pansy looks down at the floor whilst biting her lip. Draco examines Pansy up and down then a grin appears on his face. Pansy gets up from the chair and walks over to the door. As she places her hand onto the handle she turns to face Draco.
“You know who this person is, Draco just hurry up and accept your feelings for her,” Pansy answers as she leaves Draco’s office.
Draco stares at the letter, then at a picture on his desk. He looks up in shock and grabs a quill and parchment. Once he finishes writing, hands it to Tracy.
“Please send this to Minister Tracy,” Draco says.
Once he is back inside his office, he looks at the letter with hope in his eyes.

The next day, *Valentine’s Day*
Draco is in his kitchen making dinner when he hears a knock from the door.
“It’s open,” he says loudly, whilst focusing on the dinner.
He hears something be placed on the dining table then a voice.
“Do you need any help?” Hermione asks.
“If you don’t mind, could you please grab two wine glasses, they should be in the middle drawer on your right,” He responds.
Hermione grabs two of the glasses and heads back into the dining room. She pours herself and Draco wine and places the glasses on either end of the round dining table. Not long after Draco comes in carrying their dinner and dessert, which was the gift basket she gifted to him the day prior.
“Why did you ask me to come for dinner?” Hermione inquired whilst cutting up her dinner.
“I invited you mainly to say thank you for the gift you sent,” Draco responds.
Hermione looks at him petrified, “How do you know it was from me? it could have been anyone out of our friend group.”
“Well we’re the only two people in our group who aren't dating or married.” Draco responds, “Also you’re the one of the very few people that would put this much effort into a gift.”
Hermione’s face turns slightly pink and gives Draco a small smile then returns to finish her meal. The two of them sit in silence, occasionally glancing up at the other. Once they finished their meals, Hermione got up to wash her plate.
“You don’t need to do that, I can wash up later,” Draco says from behind her.
“Are you sure, I don’t mind doing it now.”
“No it’s okay, how about we finish up the dessert,” Draco suggests.
“That was for you to have on your own,” Hermione responds.
“I want to share it with you,” Draco says, as he takes Hermione’s hand and leads her to his living room.
The gift basket is centered in the middle and has their wine glasses, refilled next to it. As they go and sit down, he hands Hermione the basket and she grabs a couple of Chocolate Cauldrons. Draco turns on the TV and switches it to Netflix. As he scrolls through options, he stops abruptly.
“I want to know, why did you send me this gift basket?” Draco asks as he turns to face Hermione.
“I wrote it on the card,” Hermione responds.
“I know that but I feel there is another reason,” Draco says back.
“There isn’t any, I wanted to do it as a nice thing especially since the scandal was only a few days ago,”
“I may have only been your friend for the last three years, but I was your classmate for eight, I can tell when you’re lying,” Draco says as he turns back to the TV.
The two of them sit in silence for a few minutes. Suddenly without hesitation Draco grabs Hermione by her arm, pulls her onto his lap then kisses her. As their lips meet, a spark is felt throughout their bodies as if the world is telling them they were meant for each other. Once Draco and Hermione pull away, they rest their foreheads against one another and start to giggle.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Hermione,” Draco says with a huge smile as he leans back against the sofa, draping an arm across Hermione’s chest and stares down at her.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Draco,” Hermione responds back as she snuggles into Draco’s chest and looks up him with the exact same smile, whilst putting on a romantic movie.
