Tommy Innes is not in love with his best friend. Nope, definitely not. He doesn't stare at him when Tubbo isn't looking. He doesn't feel lighter when the other boy laughs. He doesn't think about him at night and wonders what it would be like to hold his hand.

Okay, so maybe he is. But nothing is going to ever happen between them.. Right?

But maybe something could! He could go ask Big Q for a fancy suit. He’s bound to have some in the big snazzy country of his. Tubbo likes green, so he could dress up in a green tuxedo. Yeah!

But he would have to get Tubbo a gift if he wants to sweep the other boy off his feet. Not that it would be hard, he has an incomprehensible amount of charisma and charm.

Ranboo gives him more than enough riches, so not that.

Hmm..

Tubbo does love his gadgets and gizmos, so he can build something for him!

This is going to go great!

In hindsight, maybe he shouldn't have tempted the universe.

Tommy hacks into his elbow, plumes of dust rising from the ground. A small crater sits in front of the boy, a few embers floating with the smoke, the ground around the hole blackened. The nice suit he got from Quackity is now covered in soot and crinkled to hell and back. Shit, he thinks.

In the place of what should have been a three-block flying machine is a heap of metal, stone, and slime coagulated into a gross-looking mush. With a frown and a sigh, he plops backward onto the grass, closing his eyes. This is stupid. There has to be an easier way to get Tubbo's heart.

"Boy trouble?"

Tommy screams and scrambles to his feet, tripping over the mush in his rush to get away. He practically growls at Wilbur, glaring daggers at the man. "The fuck? I thought that! You got some freaky powers now?"

"No, you said it out loud." Wilbur rolls his eyes.

"Like I'd take dating advice from a guy that thinks starting a turf war is flirting." Wilbur frowns, pouting a little. "Plus, you're old."

"Sureeeeeeeee, I'm the oldest man in the world. Look at me, I'm so wise and smarter than this child in front of me." He walks over to Tommy, flicking the boy's forehead.

"Fuck you! And Philza's the oldest man in the world, dipshit!"

The older man rolls his eyes, shoving his hands in his long coat. "Do you want advice or not?"

"I literally just said I don't, dumbass."

Wilbur clears his throat, ignoring the name calling, and takes a seat on the ground. He pats the grass beside him, and Tommy begrudgingly complies. Wilbur doesn't tazlk, though. In fact, he's silent for long enough to get on his nerves and is about to tell him off at the 5 minute mark when he finally dsays something.

"You and Tubbo have been friends since childhood. Actually, I think you met him when you both were still toddlers. He's watched your idiotic ass mess up as many times as I have, maybe even more so, because I was dead."

"Hey!"

"I'm not done. He's stuck with you through thick and thin. Through death and life. He's seen you at your worst, and you, him. He's also listened to your horrible ideas with the shittiest proposal and still gone with it." The man looks at the sky, watching the clouds drag on by overhead. "You're probably wondering why I'm even bring this up. It's because I'm trying to make a point. What I'm trying to say is this: You don't need to put on a big show, or-or some turf war, or makes-" He gestures wildly at the mess. "-Whatever that is. Just be your racoon-acting self."

He.. did not expect that. Looks like his brother still has a way with words. But something sticks out from it all.

"Good job scoring Q, looks like you actually have some rizz for once in your life." He laughs before he's tackled to the dirt.

It's night by time he makes it to Snowchester. Tubbo is standing outside of his and Ran's house, watching the snow fall.

As Tommy gets closer, Tubbo's eyes meet his, and a smile breaks out on the hybrid's face.

"Hey bossman, what- The fuck are you wearing? You look like you got blown up!" He laughs, and it feels like summer, warming Tommy's chest and cheeks. The goat buy rushes up to him and ushers him into the house, the other two upstairs, asleep. Tommy shivers, holding a hot chocolate in shaking fingers. Tubbo sits beside him on the couch, waiting until Tommy's stop clacking enough to speak.

"I'm here because I n-need to tell you something." he mutters into his cup, staring at the brown liquid.

The other boy frowns, concern swirling in his eyes. he coots closer, pulling his legs up. "Everything okay?"

The blonde feels his heart skip a beat at the proximity. This is cool, he's cool. Ice cold, even.

"Yeah, I just.." He inhales deeply, holds it beofre exhaling. "I think I'm in love you." He dares to look at Tubbo only to see.. a blank stare.

"..sounds gay." he says, deadpanned.

"Oi! I'm trying to let out my emotions, this is a big deal, man!"

He sets the cocoa on the floor and swats the other who only cackles in response.

"Okay, okay! I'm in love with you too! Stop hitting me!"

They tumble to the floor and freeze. After a moment of silence, they let out a collective breath of relief. The goat boy stares at him, eyes soft. They stay like this for seconds-hours-days-months-years-forever, when Tommy scooches forward, resting his forehead against the other's.

"You mean it?" He whispers, not loud and boisterous and confident, but soft and nervous.

"mhm. Was actually gonna ask you out tomorrow, but you beat me too it."

"Yeah, it's 'cause I'm a big man."

"Sure, Toms." He murmurs back.

And with that, he pulls the blanket over them both, holding Tubbo close, spending the rest of the night whispering to each other on the floor.
