Little April Fools – Sophia and Simon

01/04/2067

“Did you boys know that Gordon was meant to be born on the first of April and not on Valentines Day?” Jeff asked, Scott, John and Alan, as they waited in the lounge, with Scott’s daughter and Alan’s twins, on Tracy Island for news on the birth of Gordon and Penelope’s twin children.

It wasn’t long after the couples wedding in July the previous year, that Gordon and Penelope announced that they too were going to add to the Tracy clan, and that they were also expecting twin children.

Jeff had been shocked and delighted by the news, while his other sons moaned in mock horror that there were going to be more swamp monsters running around the island…

“Really?” Alan replied. “I knew he was born premature, but if he was meant to born on April fool’s day, it kind of explains a lot.”

“He’s making up for it now,” John muttered. “You do realize, that the GDF thought we were pulling their leg when I told them that we were standing down for the next 48 hours, due to family commitments.”

“Why would they think that?” Jeff asked.

“They thought I was pulling and April fools prank,” John growled. “Like I would do such a thing, I’m actually glad that the fish has done something useful, and got us out of com duty, this time of the year is hell.”

“Would you look at all the fluffy bunnies,” Scott giggled, from one of the couches. “Hippity-hop, hippity-hop.”

Not wanting a repeat of his shenanigans when Alan and Kayo’s twin’s were born the year before, Virgil had quietly slipped Scott a tranquilizer, when Penelope had announced that she was in labour, and well…

Alan looked at his oldest brother, “You are totally stoned, bro,” he commented, as he turned his attention to Scout who had toddled up to him. “Yes, your uncle Virgie gave your daddy some medicine that is making him act silly,” he told her. “Hopefully your uncle Johnny is recording this so we can all have a laugh when daddy sobers up.”

“Of course, I am,” John replied, as Jeff facepalmed. “And Scout, please tell your uncle Alan not to call me Johnny.”

Scout giggled loudly, as Scott started chanting, “Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, Jonathan.”

That was when Piper, Scout’s mother and Scott’s wife walked into the room, “Scott?” she asked, as she looked at Jeff and the others. “Okay guys, what’s wrong with my husband?”

“Pipe-pee…” Scott called out, to his wife. “Pipe-pee, Virgie gave me something, and now you have fluffy bunnies hopping around your head.”

Piper shot Jeff a dark look and mouthed, “Remind me to kill Virgil later,” then she cleared her throat. “Penelope has just given birth to the twins, mother and babies are doing well, although Gordon has a busted left hand.”

“Baby?” Babies here?” Scott stood up swaying as he did so. “Let’s go see the babies…”

Piper walked up to her husband, “You are not going anywhere, Scott Tracy,” she growled at him. “Until you have slept off whatever Virgil gave you.”

“Aww, Pipe-pee…” Scott whined. “Wanna see babies…”

“You are in no condition to meet them, Scott,” Piper rolled her eyes, as she turned to Alan. “Can you keep an eye on Scout while I put this one to bed.”

“To bed?” Scott asked. “Are we going to make the babies…?”

Piper rolled her eyes, and dragged Scott from the room, as Jeff, John and Alan cracked up laughing.

Jeff, after speaking briefly speaking to Parker, who was zipped lipped on the baby’s names and genders, ducked his head in the infirmary where Gordon and Penelope were quietly bonding with their children, “How are the new parents doing?” he asked Virgil and Willow softy, as he quietly entered the room.

Virgil looked at his father, “Well you can take a look for yourself,” he replied, as he looked over Jeff’s shoulder. “Where’s Scott? I thought he would be kicking the door down by now.”

Jeff rubbed back of head, nervously, “Scott had a bit of adverse reaction to the tranquillizer you slipped him,” he replied as Gordon noticed his presence in the room, and started making his way over to his father, leaving Penelope with the babies.

Virgil looked at his father with concern, “What sort of reaction?” he hissed, softy, as Gordon looked at his father and brother with concerned curiosity.

“Scott is currently upstairs, stoned off his tits,” Jeff replied. “Piper has put him to bed to sleep it off.”

Virgil, Gordon and Willow stared at Jeff, as Penelope called out, “Are you going to keep your father waiting at the door, Gordon?” she asked. “Or are going to introduce him to his newest grandchildren?”

Gordon jumped, “Sorry, Milady,” he replied, with a laugh, as he moved to rejoin her. “Apparently, Scott had an unexpected reaction to the tranq, Virg slipped him.”

Penelope, cocked an eyebrow, at her husband, “What sort of reaction?”

“One that has him seeing fluffy bunnies everywhere,” Jeff replied, softy as he approached the bed.

Penelope staired at her father-in-law for a few moments, and then shook her head, “I’m sure Piper has him well in hand,” she replied. “But make sure whatever he had taken has worn off before he comes down here.”

Jeff nodded in agreement, “Don’t worry I will have Will check him over before he meets these two,” he replied, as he looked down at the tiny bundles in pink and yellow blankets. “Now who do we have here?” he asked, as he tickled the nose of the baby in the yellow blanket.

The baby sneezed, “You have another granddaughter, dad,” Gordon answered softly. “Meet Sophia Allison Crieghton-Ward Tracy.”

Jeff stared at Gordon, “Another girl!?!” he exclaimed, not unhappy in the slightest. “Are all you boy’s out to break old family legends apart?” Jeff turned to Willow, who had only recently confirmed that she was pregnant with her and Virgil’s first child, and Virgil, as he asked the question.

“I think it’s too soon to tell, Dad,” Virgil replied. “Besides it would ruin the surprise.”

Jeff looked down at Sophia, yes, it would ruin the surprise, Jeff had never wanted to know the gender of his children or, now, grandchildren before they were born, as long as the child was healthy, he didn’t care.

Although seeing his sons having daughters did make Jeff wonder if it was possible…

Then Jeff remembered that Lucy had threatened to castrate him with rusty pliers, if he ever impregnated her again while she was pregnant with Alan, she was done having children, and a sixth pregnancy would have most likely ended with a sixth boy named Walter or Donald.

Jeff looked over at the bundle in the pink blankets, and gently ran a finger down the baby’s cheek, “And who are you?” he asked.

The baby opened his/her blue eyes and tried to look at Jeff, “Kallen isn’t your only grandson anymore,” Penelope replied. “This is Simon Parker Creighton-Ward Tracy.”

Jeff laughed, “If it was another girl, I might have started to get worried,” he replied jokingly, winking at the new parents. “Now Kallen’s not going to be completely outnumbered by sister or cousins,” he looked at Penelope and Gordon. “May I hold them?”

Penelope nodded, as Gordon moved to help place the babies in Jeff’s arms, “As long as you don’t take them off on one of your little adventures,” Gordon replied. “I’m watching you, Dad.”

Jeff shot his son an innocent look, “I wouldn’t do that, son,” he replied, as he leaned down and whispered to the twins: “Not until you’re a couple of weeks old at least.”

Gordon rolled his eyes and shook his head, Jeff’s ‘adventures’ with the kids was usually how Jeff got some one-on-one time with his grandchildren, sometimes he forgot to mention that he had taken one the kids with him, and it caused a few drama’s, considering Scott was a bit notorious for doing it too.

This led to Piper coming up with a few ground rules for Scout, namely, stay in the villa, be contactable, and don’t mess with her routines… Alan and Kayo employed a similar set of rules when it came to Kesha and Kallen.

But figuring out the child care routines was something that was going to be ironed out in the next few weeks, at this moment in time, all Jeff cared about was getting to know his newest grandchildren.

Scott gently placed his new nephew into his mother’s arms, as he nailed Virgil with at glare…

It was the day after Gordon and Penelope’s twins were born, and the rest of the Tracy Family had just been introduced to the new arrivals, when John and Alan decided to share with the rest of the Island the highlight reel of Scott’s antic’s the day before.

Needless to say, it was fortunate that Scott had been holding Simon, when the video started playing otherwise the islands space cases would have probably found themselves in a world of hurt, “Virgil,” he growled at his brother. “You had better start running in Five, Four, Three…”

Virgil didn’t hang around, he cleared the sunken lounge, and charged down the stairs leading down to the kitchen, fully intending to lead Scott on a wild goose case around the island, to give him a chance to calm down.

“…Two, One,” Scott stalked out of the living area, after his brother, to have a discussion with him about the use of tranquillisers…

Notes:

Scott doesn’t take being put into situations where he can’t do anything to help very well, especially when it involves family, and since Willow needed Virgil’s assistance, with the delivery of the babies, the rest of the island has the fun task of handling Scott.
Scott was constantly hovering at the door to the infirmary in full cluck mode, when Kesha and Kallen were born – the only reason why he wasn’t in the delivery room was because Kayo threatened to murder him, when he tried to get in there.

(if a SmotherHenus in full cluck mode it will try and sit on the chick it’s protecting, while trying to kill what’s threatening it or attempt to lay an egg trying. There are very few things short of a tranquilliser dart that can calm a SmotherHenus in full cluck – From The Wildlife on Tracy Island)

Virgil didn’t want to risk a repeat with Gordon and Penny…
