Delivering My Feelings Unto You

Summary:

Sig gets yet another anonymous love letter while inviting Amitie over to hang out. Amitie takes this discovery well.

Notes:

Digging this out of my pile of unpublished fics from previous Secret Santa events I partook in to have them out there and not stuck forever on my laptop. Prompt I was given was Amitie getting jealous at an anonymous love letter Sig received, so...sit back and enjoy this silly ride.

Work Text:

“Hmm? What’s this…?” Sig wondered as he peered into his mailbox.

It’d been a seemingly typical and uneventful day, with Sig having invited Amitie over to hang out at his place after school, only to be greeted by a letter with no return address.

“Who’d you think send this, Sig?” Amitie asked, peering curiously over Sig’s shoulder at the envelope.

“No clue. Maybe someone at school?” he replied flatly.

Taking the mail inside the house to look ay it calmly inside, Amitie followed Sig in curious as to what it contained, finding the lack of a return address just as curious.

Sitting down on the couch and inviting Amitie to sit over by his side, Sig opened the envelope, taking out a flowery sheet of paper with fancy handwriting.

“What’s it say, what’s it say?” asked Amitie excitedly.

“Let’s see…”

“My beloved Sig,” the letter began, “you are the light of my life.”

“B-beloved…?” Amitie reacted in surprise, blushing slightly.

“Amitie?” Sig questioned, oblivious to Amitie’s blush, before ignoring her and continuing to read the letter.

“Your eyes are so calm and mysterious,” the letter continued, “and they hide a charming glare that makes me weak whenever you look my way.”

“A-are his eyes really that mysterious…? I mean, they’re nice, but they seem more pensive than mysterious…” Amitie mused quietly, unheard by Sig.

“You’re so strong, reliable, thoughtful, and cool. You’re the love of my life and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Signed, an enamored admirer,” the letter finished.

Sig put the letter aside in dismissal, seemingly uninterested in its contents. “Huh. Another one of those letters.”

“A-another?” asked a panicked Amitie, visibly blushing in jealousy.

“Yeah. They’ve come every other week or so in the past month.”

“And you’re fine with them? Get real!”

“…why are you so worked up, Ami?”

Amitie paused at the question, still visibly blushing. It was true, she was getting more worked up about this then Sig was. But how could she not? It’s not like she liked liked Sig, but… Sig was her best friend. Her closest companion. Someone she’d share her life with without hesitation. Wait, wouldn’t that imply she’s also in love with him? But is she really? Sure, Sig’s nice and all, but given how easily he dismissed that letter, would he like her back?

“Ami, I like you.”

“Huh?”

Amitie froze at Sig’s comment. Wait, did she say all her thoughts out loud and never realize?

“You did, Ami.” Sig replied, almost on cue.

“Get really real! Why didn’t you stop me sooner…?” Amitie exclaimed, embarrassed at the whole thing.

“Because I like you, Ami,” Sig replied flatly, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

“Y-you…you do…?” Amitie replied, her blush deepening even further now that Sig had put his feelings out there. “I…I love you, too…”

The two quietly embraced as Amitie slowly recomposed herself from her blushing mess, Sig lightly brushing aside her hair to plant a small kiss on her forehead.

The two stayed like this for the rest of the afternoon, warmly cuddled up to one another, with Sig smiling warmly as Amitie collapsed and slept in his arms.

“It sure took them long enough to tell each other how they felt!” an impish voice mused, out of sight and sound. “I’m glad this letter scheme was just as fun as Ringo said it’d be~”

And thus, Ecolo took off, leaving the lovebirds to their own devices.
