Work Text:
"Vincent."
The man puts down the wine glass he's holding and smiled at the woman beside him, who's voice is as sweet as honey.
"Yes, dear?"
The woman smiled, before saying the most absurd thing the man has ever heard.
"Do you think we're soulmates in every universe?"
She then leaned her head onto the man's shoulders, while also staring at him with hopeful eyes.
The man stared back. His heart filled with confusion and he was bewildered.
Why would she ask such a peculiar question?
The man thought.
Even if other universe does exist, why would they be together again?
Countless thoughts raced in the man's mind. But in the end, he mustered up the warmest smile he can pull out and from his mouth slipped out a lie,
"Of course. Why wouldn't we be?"
The man held her hand in his, eyes meeting hers once again.
"I love you, Manon."
And yet, another lie was spoken.
