Work Header

You are the one who lights up my dark path.

Summary:

Jeon Seokmin, the epitome of happiness in the Jeon family. He's always so bright and passionate, no wonder he's labeled the 'mood-maker' and 'the person who can bright up your day just by smiling' by his co-workers in the café he's working in. He's too pure and innocent that his brother is protective of him. Maybe a little too over protective.

Poor guy, must I say. He doesn't know that the universe chose a cold, stubborn, rich and hot playboy that has a fucked up childhood experience for him to be with. Which is the seemingly ignorant costumer he interacted with, Yoon Jisoo.

But hey, the future plans to change Jisoo's behavior and view of the world once they formally meet and get to know eachother. They're gonna be in love anyways.

Notes:

Hello universe! Your sleep deprived author who doesn't sleep on weekends and only sleeps for 3 hours on weekdays has finally released a new fan fiction! I told you guys that I'll be back in late february or march, and so here I am! Thankfully I managed to create this fic a 2-chapter fic so you guys won't wait for a month for the next chapter like you did with my last Junhao fic. Please be mindful of the tags! Any similarity to another work or film is purely a coincidence. Thanks for clicking on my work! Enjoy reading!

Chapter 1

Summary:

Basically the first interaction and an introduction to both the main characters' seperate lives. This chapter is mostly focused on seokmin, so if you're a joshua stan, you'll probably need to wait for the last chapter.

Chapter Text

"Seokmin-ah, when are you going to be in a relationship?"

His mother asks, which he replies,

"When Wonwoo-hyung stops being too overprotective over me."

He giggles while jokingly saying this. Wonwoo almost chokes on his food when he hears this.

"It's not my fault that God made you too innocent! You cry when you see a stray cat or dog looking hungry, just imagine how you would cry if someone breaks your heart!"

His brother defends himself while chewing down his food in between his words.

"Don't speak when you have food stuffed in your mouth, Wonwoo-ya."

Their mother covers Wonwoo's mouth with her hand and Wonwoo nods at her for this.

"Going back to the topic, really, Seokmin-ah, when are you planning to be in a relationship? You're 26 with a stable job. Plus, you're kind, handsome and generous. Anyone would court or date you."

His mother says, with a serious and a worried tone.

"I don't know, mom. I'll just trust the world to let me meet my soulmate when the time comes."

"You need to move your ass sometimes, Seok. You don't know if the universe will actually make your soulmate come to your life. Sometimes, you need to find them. I mean, I moved my ass to find my soulmate. And now I'm married with him."

"You don't need to tell me that you have a relationship while I don't, hyung."

Their father overhears them bickering from the living room.

"You two are very loud, I could hear your voices even if I'm in the living room. Can you not live if you don't bicker with each other for a minute?"

Their father pats both their heads while saying this in a teasing tone.

Jisoo hears footsteps behind the door of his bedroom. But he chooses to ignore it, focusing on scrolling through his phone instead of giving attention to his brother.

"Hey, Yoon Jisoo! Open this door, before I bust it open with your game console you left in the living room last night!"

Jisoo lazily gets up from his bed, opening the door for the other male.

"I didn't steal your chocolate muffin with extra pinches of cinnamon powder that could make an average human with low sugar die with a side of chocolate chips that you hid in the fridge before you ask."

"How did you make that so detailed? I ate it last night already. Anyways, I need you to go to the cafe asap. I need you to get vanilla cupcakes for doljjong ( side note; doljjong is a dog in this universe ), and a strawberry frappé for me. With extra whip cream, by the way."

"No, thank you, you may now leave my bedroom. Just ask your boyfriend."

Jisoo was about to close the door on his brother but Jeonghan tugs his shirt and forces him to take a step out of his bedroom.

"He has work today. Come on, it's my day off from the company today. Can you atleast do a favor for your older brother?"

Jeonghan beams his eyes at his younger brother. Jisoo sighs in defeat as a response.

"You should've asked Seungcheol-hyung to get it for you. But fine. What's the location of this cafe anyways?"

Jeonghan dramatically gasps,

"Don't tell me you forgot the location of the cafe where our grandmother will always take us to when we were a child?"

Jisoo's forehead cringes at the mention of his childhood days.

"Can you just tell me where this cafe is and stop being so dramatic?"

"I'm not dramatic, excuse you! But anyways, it's just 5 blocks away from where the convenience store is."

"Okay, where's your money?"

Jisoo opens his hands, and gets greeted by a wallet from his brother.

"That has my company card inside it. Don't loose it, thank you. Now go. By the way, when ordering the vanilla cupcakes, ask the cashier if they can make it pet-safe. "

Joshua simply nods at his brother.

"Good morning, Seok!! How was your sleep?"

His co-worker, Seungkwan, greets him with a smile that's glad to see him. He returns the smile, of course.

"It's alright, as usual. You're early today, what's up?"

"Oh, it's nothing that much. My boyfriend woke me up with an early morning call earlier."

Seungkwan's twirls his imaginary long hair, which Seokmin giggles at.

"Hansol?"

Seungkwan clicks his tounge,

"Correct!"

"How's it like to have a relationship after a year of pining eachother, hm?"

Seokmin teases Seungkwan and his lovey-dovey relationship. Seungkwan nudges Seokmin's elbow for this.

"You won't understand!"

Seungkwan flushes his cheeks pink as he says this, which Seokmin laughs at.

Seungkwan fixes his composure and speaks up,

"By the way, do you have someone you're talking with already?"

"My answer to that will not change, Seungkwan. You already know it's a no."

Seungkwan pouts and is a bit disappointed when he hears this.

"You're 26, and you've told me that you haven't got a relationship with anyone ever since highschool! Are you still waiting for you soulmate to show up?"

"Yes, I trust the universe to let me and my soulmate meet when the time comes."

"You need to get up and move, Seok. Really, you might grow old alone if you don't find your soulmate."

"I've got 3 people saying that towards me today, even if the time hasn't even reached 12 pm yet. Can you all just let me live my life with my own decisions?"

Seokmin sarcastically rolls his eyes.

A voice calls from the door,

"I need someone at the cashier, I'll just grab my vitamins I forgot at home. Thank you!"

It was another cafe staff and a friend of theirs, Hyun-Min.

That mostly sounded like an order, but Seokmin didn't mind.

"I'll replace Hyun for now, take watch of the muffins that are in the oven please, thank you."

Seokmin says this while walking over at the door to replace the cashier, Seungkwan just nods at him.

Jisoo sighs just right after stepping inside of the cafe.

He was wearing black baggy pants and white t-shirt with a black jacket layered on top of it.

I hate my life, I hate social interaction. I just hope nothing wrong or embarrassing happens.

He walks over to the line infront of the cashier and waits for his turn.

After a few minutes of waiting, it's finally his time to order.

Just say what Jeonghan-hyung asked, and the suffering will finally be over once I get the order.

"Good morning, sir! May I have your order?"

A bright eyed boy, who is so obviously Seokmin, speaks towards Jisoo with an enthusiastic and loud-enough voice.

"Uhm, one strawberry frappuccino, with extra whip cream. And 3 vanilla cupcakes. Also, if it's possible, can you make the cupcakes pet-safe? Like, lessen the sugar or something."

"Sure! Just wait for your order, sir. The cupcakes will take awhile since we'll be adjusting the sugar level for the batter, as you've said. Just a few more minutes and it'll be done. Thank you. Also, can you please write down your name here? We'll call you once it's done."

Jisoo nods ( without smiling ) at Seokmin while writing down his name at the paper, however, he's interally cussing at the world for making him have even more time in socializing. He gives the cashier money as for payment.

God, I hope those cupcakes will be done in a minute. I can't stand this embarrassment. Fuck everyone else.

~

After some time, Jisoo's name gets called by an enthusiastic voice. ( You've guessed it, it's Seokmin who called his name! )

Jisoo walks over to who called his name.

"Here, sir. Thank you for coming by."

Jisoo grabs the paper bag and immediately storms off the cafe. Not realizing he left the wallet Jeonghan gave him at one of the tables.

Luckily, Seokmin notices before he could completely loose sight of Jisoo. Fortunately, Hyun-min returned. So he'll be able to catch up to him if he runs fast enough.

Seokmin grabs the wallet and walks out of the cafe, looking through his left and right vision to spot Jisoo. He spots him not a few seconds later.

He runs towards Jisoo and slow downs his speed when he gets closer.

"Sir! You left your wallet on the table!"

Seokmin says as he manages to speak in between panting his breath.

Jisoo turns around, hands inside his jacket's pockets seemingly not minding if he looses the wallet.

"Oh, thanks."

"No problem, sir. Be careful on your way home."

Seokmin nods at Jisoo while saying this and turns around to go back at the cafe.

he's pretty

Jisoo mentally slaps himself for thinking of that. That's the first time he thought like that of someone since ages.

Notes:

Hope you enjoyed this chapter!! Sorry if it was kinda like a cliffhanger, I promise you that the 2nd chapter will be longer than this. Joshua's pov will be much more portrayed in the next chapter.
