Heard That AnoTaki Are Getting Married

Summary:

MyGO’s band members heard from Anon and Taki that they are getting married.

Notes:

I originally wrote this in Chinese and posted it on Lofter. Seeing it being shared on Twitter in the English-speaking community, I decided to take a stab at translating it. My English is not that good, especially in casual settings. Thus, I bet some of the conversations between the characters and how I describe the events would come across as rather awkward. To make up for this, I’m using DeepL, ChatGPT, and Google Translate, taking only what I think are the good parts. It’s only ~7000 Chinese characters, but translating it to English is taking me quite some time, so I’ll just do it at my own pace, and upload tiny sections at a time. Thanks for bearing with me and I hope you will enjoy this.

Chapter Text

Compared to their high-school and college days, the frequency with which the MyGO band members rehearse together has decreased significantly now that they are all working adults. Give or take, they get together anywhere from bi-weekly to monthly, depending on the situation, and sometimes they do it remotely. At the end of this one time when the five of them were physically together for rehearsal, after Anon had communicated with Taki back and forth through eye contact, Anon finally called out to the other three who were busy packing up, “Sorry, Rikki and I have something to tell you all…”

Tomori, Soyo, and Rana stopped what they were doing and looked at Anon. Anon had a little blush on her face. She looked at Taki in a way that seemed to prompt her to also say something, anything, but Taki just frowned slightly.

“C’mon… Say something, Rikki~ It’s so awkward for me to say this alone~”

“Who was the one who said that whoever made less money this month would be solely responsible for announcing it to the rest of the band? Knowing all too well that she was the one with the higher fixed income.”

“But, Rikki, doesn’t counting in deposits for music composition contracts feel a little like cheating?”

“You were the one who set the rules!”

Soyo glanced at her watch, thinking about a dinner event she had to attend later, and all the preparations she has to go through: the dress, the make-up, etc.. There’s just no time to let these two to go on and on. Soyo sighed, “Okay, that’s it. Let me guess. Either you are breaking up or getting married. It certainly doesn’t look like you two are breaking up, so getting married it is. Finally decided? When is it? And what are you planning for the wedding?”

After hearing Soyo’s words, Tomori shifted her eyes first to Anon and then to Taki. She smiled softly, watery eyes sparkling with delight, “Anon chan and Taki chan are getting married?… Congratulations.”

“Thank you, Tomori.”

Raana re-plugged in her Guitar on the side. Of course, there’s just no way she’d miss out on a perfectly fitting jam session. With the last few strokes on her guitar strings, followed by a satisfying smirk on her face, even Raana spilled out a few words: “Rikki, Anon, good couple.”

Anon first hid her face behind her arms, hands over her pink hair, then she let her arms fall to her sides, with her head turning downwards. Lastly, she slowly looked up at Soyo with her puppy eyes, “Argh… C’mon, Soyorin, just give us a bit more time to announce it ourselves for things like this… Can’t be that hard…”

“Huh, who’s one saying this and that and just can’t get to the point,” Taki interrupted. She then turned to face Soyo, “I bet you are busy, Soyo. Just ignore this brat and run if you gotta run. She’s fine, and we’ll catch up with you later with the details.”

“Aren’t you, Rikky, also responsible for this turn of events? This was supposed to be a special moment, a once-in-a-lifetime thing. No matter how you look at it, we should’ve announced it ourselves. I was just joking before. I’d say it together with Rikki even if Rikki lost. Argh, now, how are you gonna make it up to me?”

“Does it matter? I’ll make it up to you with the rest of my life anyway,” Taki replied seemingly indifferently, but her blush gave it all away. Then she turned to the other three and said with a more serious look, “Yep, Anon and I are planning to get married. Nothing has been decided yet except the wedding dresses. But we are getting married, so we wanted to let you know.” When she mentioned “getting married,” her ears turned red, and when she brought up “wedding dresses,” her lips turned up with eyes so kind that you could feel the warmth through them.

“Anon chan must have designed the wedding dresses and made them by hand, right? Sorry… I really gotta go. Congratulations, both of you! Keep me posted in our chat group when you decide on the date. I can get you a few people to help you organize the wedding ceremony, but you’ll need to have a rough idea on how you want it to go and whom to invite first.”

“Oh Soyorin, you really didn’t have to~ Thanks for all this.”

“Don't mention it. If you two end up breaking up, fighting over all the minute details around planning the wedding, that’d just be a huge hassle for MyGO as a whole. Anyway, gotta go. Talk to you later.”

“Eh, we won’t fight to the point of breaking up.”

“You don’t disagree about the fighting part though.”
