Work Text:
"Spock. Spock! Wake up!" Jim's voice sounded panicked, bringing Spock instantly to wakefulness.
"What is wrong?"
"We're late. My alarm didn't go off, but we should have been on the bridge two hours ago."
Spock rolled back over, closing his eyes. "Jim, we are on shore leave. We do not have to work today, and have nowhere we have to be. We can sleep as late as we like." He wrapped his arms around Jim's waist, pulling his husband down to rest his head on his bare chest. "Come back to bed."
Jim went willingly, tucking himself into Spock's embrace and tangling their legs together. His pulse was still racing, but feeling Spock's slow breathing beneath him was calming. If this was his reaction to missing a day of work, he clearly needed a break.
And Jim was determined to take full advantage of their time off. Last night had been amazing, despite the lingering soreness he could still feel. Ignoring the feeling, he snuggled closer into his husband. Spock began carding his fingers through his hair, and it didn't take long before he drifted off to sleep again.
When Jim awoke the next time, he rolled over, stretching luxuriously in the unusually large bed. It took him a moment to realize he was alone, and he lazily looked around for his husband. Spock was in the kitchen, the brisk tapping of the knife in his hand audible even across the distance. Spock hadn't bothered to fully dress, his loose robe open at the front, and Jim lay there enjoying the view for several long seconds before Spock noticed.
"Good morning, Adun." Spock called across the kitchen, not bothering to keep the smile from his voice. "Coffee is ready if you would like some, and breakfast will be finished in a moment."
Jim slowly rolled out of bed, pulling on loose pants and sliding his feet into a pair of soft slippers. He strode across the kitchen, pouring himself a cup of coffee before heading over behind Spock. He wrapped his arms around his husband from behind, careful to keep his cup upright. Spock leaned back into his arms, turning his head slightly to catch his lips in a deep kiss that left Jim weak in the knees, and he pulled back, setting down his coffee before he spilled it everywhere.
Spock turned away from the stove, wrapping his arms around Jim and keeping him upright as he kissed him soundly. They kissed for a long time, only brought back to reality by the hissing as the water in the kettle reached boiling. Spock spun around, instantly back to business, and Jim took his coffee to sit at the table and recover his breath.
It wasn't long before Spock brought the food over, poached eggs on thick sourdough toast for Jim and oatmeal for Spock, with fresh fruit for both of them. They both ate in silence for a while, both content to simply exist in the other's company without feeling the need to fill the silence.
As they finished, Jim got up to wash the dishes, leaving Spock to his meditation. With the dishes done, Jim crawled back onto the bed, grabbing his reading glasses and opening the book that had been sitting on his bedside table for months waiting for him to have time to read it. He lost himself in the pages, enjoying the tales of a world so much different than the one he lived in, even though it was a history of his own planet, that it was hard to believe.
He was brought back to reality by Spock climbing into bed next to him, plucking the book out of his hands. His attempts to retrieve the book were foiled by Spock's hand on his chest, holding him in place easily. He watched as Spock tucked a bookmark in the pages and set the volume on the table.
"Why?" Jim whined. "I've been waiting to-"
He was cut off by Spock's mouth on his, and his protests faded to nothing in the face of such a great alternative. Far too soon, Spock broke away, laughing at the protests Jim offered. "Come. We may be on leave, but we both have paperwork we need to finish. If we get it finished today, we can enjoy the rest of our leave in peace."
Jim groaned as Spock rolled away, climbing out of bed. "Fine. But if I have to do paperwork, I'm doing it in bed. With you."
Spock returned with both their padds in his hands, smiling. "That was my plan as well." He settled himself into the bed, leaning up against the headboard, and Jim draped himself across his lap, wiggling around to get comfortable. "Ashayam, if you do not stop moving, we will not be accomplishing any work today." Spock warned, reaching down to hold Jim in place.
Jim gave one final wiggle before falling still. "As much as that idea sounds appealing, we do need to finish this work. But after..."
"After." Spock agreed. "If you can behave yourself until your paperwork is completed, you can have whatever you want."
With such an incentive before him, Jim forced himself to focus on the multiple documents needing his attention. Several were complete with a quick read-through and signature, but enough required alteration and additions to keep him busy for several hours.
Finishing the last page, he set his padd down and stretched his stiff back, rolling over to look up at his husband. He ran his fingers up Spock's bare chest, delighting in the slight shiver his husband failed to suppress. "I am not yet finished, Jim. You will need to wait."
"But I am finished, and you said that when I was finished, I could have whatever I wanted." Jim continued running his fingers through the dark hair covering his husbands chest. "You can finish your papers. I'll just find a way to entertain myself while you work."
Spock stayed resolutely focused on his work as Jim played, although a faint blush began rising to his cheekbones the longer he tried to resist. Finally, he tossed his padd aside. "That was the last page. I am finished. And as you have spent the last twenty minutes doing just what you wanted, I believe it is time that I take my reward as well."
He rolled Jim off of his lap, rising up to loom over his husband and kiss him. "I believe I will enjoy this."
