Breath of Zer Dragon

Work Text:

~Prologue~
A thunder ran through the streets of Betwin City. But this wasn’t like a normal thunder. This one was sinister. A roar of death and destruction. One this group had wished they wouldn’t hear. They had only faced a threat like this once before. And which they wouldn’t have to face again.

“I’m really hoping that’s an earthquake.” One of the men said. He ran his hand through his Beeline Honey hair. The other man came up beside him, placing his hand on the first man’s shoulder.

“I think you know what that means, Maverick.” He grumbled, his voice grim. Maverick hung his head. A woman approached the duo.

“Just when I thought we were going to be able to get Onyx too.” The woman mentioned. The first man’s expression softened.

“Let's not discuss that around Maverick, Kate.” The unnamed man spoke.

“He’s a grown man, Ace. And it’s not his fault that his boyfriend is an international spy who has killed some of our agents.” Katie argued. Ace just sighed.

“Only physically am I an adult. Mentally I act like a child.” Maverick winked as he rebutted his friend. Katie wanted to add on another response but was interrupted by a powerful knock at the door. The group looked over to the sound. Maverick stood up. His hand reached under the table and grabbed a sword’s handle. The man brought it up to a defensive stance. He hit a button and the blade of the weapon extended. Katie grabbed a pair of nun chucks off her back. Ace didn’t really have a weapon to grab. He looked around the room.

“You’re kidding, right?” Maverick glanced at his underprepared friend.

“Well, my thing isn’t really a physical weapon like yours. I can just give us the luck that a tree branch will fall and knock the enemy out.” Ace rebutted. He kept looking around the room.

“Just-” Maverick looked around with him.

“Ace! Heads up.” Kate tossed him a dagger. Both of the men looked at her, dumbfounded.

“That was stupidly dangerous.” The blonde shouted at her.

“So is this.” She responded. The knocking stopped just as quick as it started. The door slowly creaked open, a snake slowly slithered in. Its scales were matt and rainbow colored. It started growing human features and stood up. It had an evil smile. Then they saw a leg slip itself through the doorway and into the room.
