Summary:

“You’re a blessing, Midoriya.”

“He is, isn’t he? The best son-in-law I could have asked for.” Mitsuki ruffled Izuku’s hair as he passed her a mug of coffee as well.

Work Text:

Their second year, after the war, brought about a new development with the dormitories. They were now officially allowed visitors, which meant family could come to Heights Alliance. Prior to this, the only time the students got to see their families would be during visits on weekends or longer holidays.

Ever the doting mother, Midoriya Inko wasted no time in making her way to the dormitories the second she had free time. She didn’t even tell Izuku beforehand, too excited to see her son and meet all of his friends, bar Katsuki because she had known that boy since Mitsuki birthed him.

Upon knocking on the door, Inko was greeted with a red-haired boy who did a double take when he saw her. “Hello?”

“Midoriya Inko. Is Izuku in?” She introduced herself.

“Midoriya-san! It’s good to meet you. I’m Kirishima. Midoribro’s at the gym but he’ll be back soon. Come in!” Eijiro moved aside to let her inside and she nodded in thanks, walking inside and letting him close the door behind her. “He didn’t tell us you’d be coming; we would have cleaned up.”

“I didn’t even tell him I was coming.” Inko waved it off and watched a delighted expression appear on Eijiro’s face.

“A surprise! That’s so cool.” He beamed. “Oh, let me help you with those.” He offered his hands to take the bags she was carrying and she handed them off with a word of gratitude.

“The kitchen will be fine. I don’t know where it is.”

“I’ll show you!” Eijiro gestured with his head, leading her past the living room and into the kitchen. “Oh, Kats, hey.”

“Katsuki!” Inko beamed when she saw him and Eijiro startled, eyes widening as he watched a smile appear on Katsuki’s face. “How have you been, sweetheart?”

“Good, Auntie. How are you?” Katsuki asked, actually putting his phone down and tilting his head to accept a kiss on the cheek from Inko. “Here to see Izuku?”

“I’m good, dear, thank you. Yes, I am! I didn’t tell him though, so I’m not surprised he isn’t here. Kirishima-kun told me he would be done with the gym soon.”

“He won’t be happy he missed you getting here.” Katsuki snorted. “But yeah, him and Icy Hot will be back soon.”

“How… how do you know each other?” Eijiro looked confused.

“Forget I’ve known the nerd my whole life?”

“Katsuki and Izuku have been friends their whole lives, and I’ve known his mother since before either of them were born.” Inko explained gently.

“Sick.” Eijiro breathed.

It was then that they heard the front door open and Izuku’s voice filtered through the halls. “I’m just saying, Tenya, we should do an experiment! I want to know who’s faster.”

“Izuku, I will not be part of another one of your experiments.” Tenya’s firm voice denied as they drew closer.

“I don’t have a speed quirk but I’ll do it.”

“You’re the best, Shoto.” Izuku sounded sated. “Kacchan! I have an idea –”

The green-haired boy stopped in his tracks in the doorway to the kitchen and both Shoto and Tenya ran into him.

“Izuku!” Inko smiled.

“Mum?” Izuku looked dumbfounded as he took a step forward. “I – you didn’t tell me you were coming!”

“Surprise!”

“I missed you!” He finally snapped out of his stupor and swooped in, bending down to hug her and rest his head on her shoulder. “You should have told me! How long have you been waiting?”

“Not long, she just got here.” Katsuki replied. “They’re fucking crying.” They were in fact, both crying. Inko more than Izuku but still, tears ran down both of their cheeks.

“I brought some things for your teachers, bring them to them in class tomorrow, okay?” Inko pulled away and cupped Izuku’s face in her hands.

“Okay, I will.” He nodded, wiping his tears away. “Did you bring katsudon?”

“Of course I did! Katsuki, dear, your mother put some of your dads spicy curry in as well for you.”

“Thank you.” Katsuki rifled through the bags and Tenya gaped at the politeness that was normally given very sparingly by Katsuki, and usually only to Izuku or occasionally his close friends.

“You’ll share, won’t you?” Izuku asked, letting go of his mother to poke Katsuki’s shoulder, getting a glare without any real heat behind it.

“Only if you share yours.”

“You know I will.” Izuku beamed before turning to Shoto and Tenya. “Oh, Mum, this is Shoto and Tenya. Shoto, Tenya, this is my mother.”

“Thank you for taking care of Izuku.” Inko smiled at them.

“It’s our pleasure. He looks out for us too, Midoriya-san.” Tenya bowed his head and Shoto followed suit.

“You want a tour, Mum?” Izuku asked.

“Shower first, you stink.” Katsuki complained. “I’ll show Auntie around.”

“Ugh, fine. Thank you, Kacchan.” Izuku sighed dramatically before he pressed a kiss to Katsuki’s cheek and another to his mother’s forehead before disappearing out of the kitchen.

“I hope you don’t mind if I send a picture of that to Mitsuki.” Inko broke the silence.

“Auntie, please don’t. She won’t stop teasing me.” Katsuki complained.

“Too late now, I’m afraid. I’ll ask her to go easy on you, shall I?”

“You’re a godsent, Auntie.” Katsuki sighed. “The old hag makes it her life mission to rag on me every chance she gets. Anyways, come on, I’ll show you the 2-A dorms and you can meet all these extras.”

Katsuki.”

“Sorry.”

“What the fuck.” Eijiro whispered.

“Brat!” The front door slammed open and Denki startled from where he had been passing through the main hallway, eyes wide as he stared at the woman in the doorway who bore a very strong resemblance to Katsuki. “You’re not my brat.”

“Uh… no ma’am.” He shook his head.

“Where’s Katsuki?” Mitsuki asked, one hand on her hip.

“I… don’t know…” Denki replied.

“Auntie!” Izuku appeared from the kitchen, his long hair pulled back in a low bun.

“Izuku!” Mitsuki cooed and Denki watched open-mouthed as she held her arms out and a beaming Izuku hugged her tightly. “Darling! Look at you!”

“It’s good to see you, Auntie.” Izuku laughed when they pulled away, letting her cup his face and turn it left and right. “Kacchan’s getting dressed for the day.”

“And you’re awake before him?”

“I… didn’t actually go to sleep.” Izuku laughed nervously. “Just got back from a run, actually. I was making breakfast; do you want any? You too, Kaminari!”

“You know Katsuki’s not going to be happy you didn’t sleep.” Denki rolled his eyes teasingly. “I’d love breakfast. I’m Kaminari, Bakugo-san, it’s nice to meet you.”

“You too.” Mitsuki nodded.

“You and Katsuki are very alike; you get that a lot?” Denki followed Mitsuki and Izuku into the kitchen.

“Don’t let him hear that.” MItsuki snorted. “But yes, I do get that a lot.”

“Coffee?” Izuku held a mug out to Denki who took it with a wide smile.

“You’re a blessing, Midoriya.”

“He is, isn’t he? The best son-in-law I could have asked for.” Mitsuki ruffled Izuku’s hair as he passed her a mug of coffee as well.

Denki choked on his coffee.

“Auntie, Kacchan and I aren’t married.” Izuku said fondly, sounding as though this wasn’t the first he’d had to remind her of this fact.

“Yet!”

“Yet.” Izuku relented.

“You think he’d choose me as his best man?” Denki asked.

“Are you prepared to fight Kirishima for that?” The green-haired boy asked as he cracked two eggs in a pan and tossed some tofu into a simmering pot of what Denki assumed was miso soup.

“Maybe not. Hey, I didn’t know you cooked, Mido.”

“I can cook. It’s just my mother and I, so if she had to work late nights, I made something on my own. Plus, I learned more after we moved into the dorms because most of us are hopeless, bar Kacchan, so…”

“That’s fair. He’s the only reason we’re all alive and healthy.” Denki nodded seriously.

“I’m glad my brat’s being helpful.” Mitsuki nodded in approval. “Unfortunately, he doesn’t get his cooking skills from me. That’s all Masaru.”

“Damn right.” Katsuki grumbled as he walked into the kitchen. “You didn’t tell me you were visiting.” He glared at his mother.

“No greeting, brat?”

“Whatever.” Katsuki tsked. “Good morning or whatever.”

“Good morning, Kacchan.” Izuku huffed out a laugh, turning his head to accept Katsuki’s kiss on his cheek. “Water’s boiling in the kettle.”

“Thanks.” The blond grabbed a mug out of the cupboard and put a teabag in it. “We’re going to talk about your sleeping patterns later.”

“Told you.” Denki said to Izuku who groaned.

“It’s important to stay healthy, Izu.” Mitsuki nodded. “A proper sleep schedule is very vital.”

“What she said.” Katsuki took a sip from his steaming mug.

“I smell miso soup!” Mina slid into the kitchen with a squeal and did a double take when she saw MItsuki. “Oh my god, are you Katsuki’s mother?”

“Raccoon Eyes –”

“I am!” Mitsuki smiled.

“You’re gorgeous!” Mina gushed. “I’m Mina, one of his friends.”

“Not anymore.” Katsuki frowned.

Kacchan.” Izuku admonished and the boy huffed.

“Yeah, Kacchan, listen to Izu.” MItsuki teased.

“Auntie…” Izuku gave her a look as well.

“Sorry, Izu darling.” She held her hands up in surrender.

“Mido! Teach me your ways!” Mina clasped both of Izuku’s hand. “How do I get Kats to shut up that fast and get a gorgeous woman to call me darling?”

“Mina, I don’t think my method will work for you. I’ve known them both my whole life.”

“Aw.” Mina pouted. “Do I at least get consolation miso soup?”

“Yes, you can have consolation miso soup.”

“Kacchan, come look! Mum sent me some videos she found when she was clearing out our cupboards!” Izuku gestured for Katsuki who was sat on the other side of the room with Eijiro and Denki.

“What kind of videos?” Katsuki asked as he stood, making his way over and pointedly ignoring Denki calling after him dramatically.

“Not sure, she said it was from when we were younger.” Izuku replied.

“When you were younger?” Denki gasped, getting to his feet, and running past Katsuki, sliding, and snatching Izuku’s phone from his hands.

“Kaminari!” Izuku sat up, reaching out with Blackwhip but the electric boy dodged.

“Let me put them on the big screen!” Denki insisted, fiddling with the phone before the TV screen mirrored Izuku’s phone and a video started playing. It got the attention of Ochako and Shoto who were also in the room and Momo and Tenya who were gathered at the dining table behind them, working on something together.

“Kacchan!” A young Izuku walked in front of the camera, dressed in an All Might onesie with the hoodie pulled up over his green curls. “We match!”

“Izuku!” Ochako squealed. “Look at you!”

“I’m looking.” Izuku snorted as Katsuki sat beside him, arms crossed over his chest. The One for All wielder pressed his cheek to Katsuki’s shoulder, revelling in the warmth radiating from the explosive boy.

“Tsk, I guess we do.” Young Katsuki crossed his arms over his chest much like older Katsuki was doing. He was dressed in the same onesie as Izuku but his hoodie was down.

The camera flipped to show Inko and MItsuki side by side. “We did this on purpose.” Mitsuki whispered and Inko nodded, stifling a giggle.

“Kacchan, Kacchan, we’re both number one!” Izuku bounced up and down, clutching an All Might plush to his chest and beaming.

“We can’t both be number one.” Katsuki frowned.

“Dude.” Eijiro snickered. “Let him have this one.”

“If we’re hero partners we can both be number one!” Izuku gasped like he had a sudden revelation.

“Fine! We can be hero partners. But you better only be hero partners with me, get it Zuzu?”

“Zuzu?” Shoto snorted and Katsuki shot him a scathing glare.

“Ah, Kacchan stopped using that when we got older.” Izuku said with a smile.

“You’ve wanted to be hero partners since you were that young?” Momo asked, chiming in as her and Tenya made their way over, leaning against the sofa from behind.

“Yeah!” Izuku nodded.

“Yeah, we had our shit sorted unlike you lot.” Katsuki said.

“Bakugo!” Tenya scolded.

“We should release this video to the public when they’re Pro Heroes.” Inko whispered to MItsuki who grinned mischievously.

“This is why we’re best friends, Inko.”

“It’s so cute that your mothers are best friends too.” Ochako cooed as the video ended and Denki played the next one.

“Mum, Mum!” A young Izuku ran up to the camera. “I’m gonna ask Kacchan to marry me!”

“Holy shit, you really had your priorities set, didn’t you?” Denki whistled and Izuku laughed.

“Okay, sweetheart.”

The camera followed after Izuku as he went to a young Katsuki in the playground and took his hands, asking him a question quietly before slipping a plastic ring onto his finger and hugging him tightly.

“I told you I was the one who proposed first!” Izuku cried out in triumph.

“Whatever. I’ll do it first next time.”

“Next time?” Momo’s eyes widened.

“Oh you guys weren’t there but Bakugo-san, Katsuki’s mother, she called Midori her son in law and he said they weren’t married, and she was like yet!” Denki explained and Ochako’s mouth dropped.

“She’s already calling you her son in law?” The gravity quirk user asked Izuku who chuckled.

“Ocha, she’s been like a second mother to me my whole life.” He shrugged. “To her, it’s just a matter of time before things are official.”

“Which in no way means we’re getting married any time soon.” Katsuki snorted.

“So, I’m the best man, right Kats?” Eijiro asked, winking at Katsuki.

“Not if you keep winking at me, you’re not.”

“Izu! I can be maid of honour, right?” Ochako grinned.

“Ochako, I do think that’s out of line.” Tenya huffed. “But Izuku –”

“No.” Izuku smirked. “I pick Shoto.” And to that, Katsuki groaned.

“Really?” Shoto blinked.

“Yeah!” Izuku beamed. “You can rest assured, Shoto. That best man honour is yours whenever Kacchan and I get married, sometime in the distant future.”
